We made a visit to this place and stayed for 3 nights while staying in Ho Chi Minh City the room was quite basic but it had an en suite it was clean and the hosts where very nice and polite we where in a group of three couples and each room had two double beds and we slept quite well it was comfy. Be warned though your likely to be woken up early as it’s near a busy street which is not quite for long. It is really close to the main strip and would hightly reccomend for this. The hosts son speaks good English and is very helpful and the father tries and is very polite even though English is limited, they gave us good advice on places to eat and where great for helping us book activities through them and it was nice to help this families small business. Overall would reccomend but don’t be expecting an amazing room for how cheap and affordable it is. Great for travellers!

Get what you pay for

The room I briefly occupied was passable. Clean with good wifi but small and not sufficiently isolated from noise. If I strongly disapprove of this hotel it is primarily because of the dishonest, rude staff and the limit of aggressiveness. Indeed, I booked a room for two people but I arrived alone in the morning because the person to join me was coming in the evening. I went out to join her and then when we returned the old gentleman who runs the establishment refused to let her spend the night in the room without explanation and being almost aggressive. I said that I had booked a double room for two people, so no one wanted to know anything. The tone quickly rose and I left the hotel without being refunded.

Dishonesty, Impolite: Fleeing

I've been in this hotel for about 15 days. The shower is flowing slowly, not far from the drop. It takes almost 10 minutes for the hot water to arrive. The family is not friendly or respectful. Don't expect the manager to answer you when you say hello. The manager asked me to pay one day when I wasn't checking out (I guess he was short of money). Since I didn't have $100 on me I told him I was going to the ATM and I would pay tonight. He got angry and said, Don't check the ATM you pay now!!!. He cuts off the fuses after you leave the room, because you didn't let the climate check out (I guess he was short of money).

Very rude and disrespectful family, poor room, shower doesn't work well

I stayed here for a month and it was a mixed experience. The family who runs it is not overly friendly, and sometimes gruff. They did not particularly warm to me over time, although the mother of the family would randomly share food with me at times, which was surprising and kind. At one point, the father felt I owed an extra day (which I am still not sure about), and when I was trying to discuss this in English with one the sons, the father got in my face telling me "shhh" and being quite verbally aggressive. The rate was average, as was the room. The room was cleaned only when asked (but cleaned to a good standard). At one point the cleaner broke the toilet and they did not fix it, so I had to flush for the rest of my stay using a bucket. I stayed in a single room, which didn't have a window. They tended to listen to TV VERY loud during all hours of the day and night, but generally easy to sleep at night. Strong AC, very hot water, strong wifi, good location. I probably wouldn't return, but it was a pleasant enough stay.

Nice enough walk up third floor single room with tv,opening window to the outside, hot water, ac & serviceable wi-fi..Most of the younger family members speak good English the older folks just smile. It's just up the alley next to 84 Bui Vien...Quieter than the main street...Other decent guest houses on the alley as well

Family run affordable guest house

Location is terrific, near the traveller ghetto but on a queit side street. In the HUGE room, there is both ac and fan, so you can choose what you like most for the night. The room was very clean. The hotel has laundry service. Locker in the room. Nice, functional, clean bathroom.

Nice, quiet place

This hotel is literally right in the middle of the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker area in District 1. The room we had was large and clean with balcony, air con, cable tv, fridge and own bathroom. The location is about 60 metres down a very atmospheric alley way. Compared to the main street hotels this location is unbelievably quiet. It is also one of the safest hotels that I have ever stayed in. The alleyway is full of people that know each other's business and there is always at least one family member in the lobby but more generally two or three. Having spent over 9 months in Vietnam I would have to say that this is the safest place I have stayed in and also one of the quietest city locations. The only negative is the lack of news channels on the tv. Overall, at $15 a night for our room it was wonderful value. We stayed a week.

Quiet Refuge

Everything is in the title. The hotel is very well located, right in the middle of the routards district, in a small narrow alleyway that starts from Pham Ngu Lao. Cheap room, 10 dollars a night. The room was clean but nothing more, with air conditioning, wifi, TV, hot water. The reception was very average, the staff barely speak English, they just know how to tell you the price and again they show you it with the calculator. The staff is constantly sleeping in the lobby. For 10 dollars a night, it's acceptable, but I think for the same price we can find better.
