I'm not sure why it's called a hotel on tripadvisor but it's a hostel and is called as such on every other site so I just want to make that clear so that your expectations are realistic. I had booked a private room due to all of my camera equipment and supplies I was travelling with so that part is the one I'll be reviewing. I just wanted to start off by saying that the staff and owner are simply amazing here. They were very nice and even exchanged some money for me without charging me anything as well as allowing me to check in early due to having to check out from the previous location at noon. The rooms are in a high rise tower so the views are absolutely amazing and you are able to see a very large portion of the city and normally you would never be able to get these views from this price point. The room was extremely clean, the A/C worked well and the atmosphere was very welcoming. One of the small downsides is that the elevators for minimal and sometimes, the wait can be a few minutes if they are busy. Since this is in a high rise tower, there is parking underground which saves you from having to park elsewhere. The location is fantastic because it is literally a block away from an entire street of street food and is a wonderful place to explore on foot and get some great cheap food and drinks. I would highly recommend Skygon hostel to anyone and everyone!

Great view, great people, and a great value!

Skygon was definitely one of the highlights of being in Ho Chi Minh City!

Arriving at Skygon for the first time, I was greeted warmly by Ha and in typical Asian culture, I was offered local fruits to try. It definitely made me feel very welcomed. After being shown to my room and resting for a bit, Ha came and asked if I wanted to go the market with her which was around the corner from Skygon Hostel. It was a fascinating experience for me and having her explain to me about the culture and etc made the experience even sweeter. The rooms had AMAZING VIEWS of the Saigon River and City View which by the way was right from the window next to my bed! 

I would recommend Skygon for any traveler who wants to have a wonderful time in  HCMC. Real vietnamese neighbourhood unlike the city centre.

Last but not least, Thank you Skygon for the amazing experience! I never thought I would say this but I definitely will be back there with my loved ones.

Good Experience and for a good price!

My sister and I stayed for four nights in late December. We booked a double room and ended up having the apartment to ourselves for the first three nights. The women who work here are incredibly kind and attentive, brought us breakfast every day, helped us book a tour and gave us lots of suggestions of things to do. There was also a free to use washing machine in our room which was great. 

The few bad points: 
As other reviewers have mentioned, the hostel is a bit far to walk from the city centre. Luckily cabs are very cheap. 
The shower was sometimes cold. 
There were some bugs in the room so we couldn't leave food or rubbish out. 

These things didn't really detract from our experience and we had a great stay! Thank you! 

Nice city view 

We stayed in this property for two days and were very pleased with the very good evaluation of our stay. Unfortunately, there was little reason to rejoice. In bed and shower, the hair was from the previous one and the blanket was unrelated. Also otherwise, the cleanliness of the floor, kitchen and bathroom was desirable. The booked and paid private bathroom (which was in the hallway for 3 rooms) was also unfortunately used by several, although we were assured several times that it would not be like this. The breakfast was a small portion of home-cooked food. Must like, but it was better on the second day.

You'll be welcome by a such a kind staff, helpful and so respectful. It's true that is not on the 100% center, but if you're looking for a quiet place in a very interesting headquarter this is the perfect place for it. 
There are a lot of cool restaurants and street food stalls for discovering the authentic Vietnamese food. Also there's a very interesting market around and if you want to get to the airport, railway or bus station is not that far from there. 
This is a so advisable place to stay if you don't want to spend a lot of money and want to enjoy a phenomenal view of Ho Chi Minh City. 

Great view of Mekong River and city skyline!

The highlight of this place is the great views, even better than some rooftop bars. Free breakfast and free laundry are always a plus. The toilets and showers were always clean and free coffee and water are available. The staff is super friendly and it is possible to book tours and buses to other cities very easily. It is not in the backpackers area, but it's surrounded by lots of shops and street food places. Loved it. 

Great views 

First of all. It looks like hostel/homestay instead of hotel. However, their hospitality is quite good with the cheap price. It only cost 5 dollar per night for dorm stay. They serve simple breakfast. Bathroom with hot water shower. Its good place to stay as my bed just beside the window that have a fabulous city view especially during night time. The only con is it abit far away from the city which around 2-3km. You may walk from hotel to the city with proper manroad but will suggest to get grab/ubercar or bike or taxi when during late night. The streets around the neighborhood is but quite during night time 

Good And cheap hostel

Free laundry for starters! Also The staff are really welcoming and friendly, there's breakfast everyday, the beds are comfortable, the hostel is kept so clean and has a great View and it's a really friendly and social environment. Would stay there again and am so happy with my 4 nights there! Ps. Not district 1 but it's a nice break from the chaos and in a more authentic and interesting area :)

Great place to stay!

The Skygon has a very cozy flair due to its WG character. The rooms are clean you have a really fantastic view of HCMC and in the Skygon there is a very friendly staff who were always in a good mood!

Fantastic view

The hostel is very well hidden in the 12th floor of a high-rise building. The hostel manager made a great effort to ensure our well-being and tried to help us with our travel planning, which was difficult due to language barriers. We had booked a two-room apartment, but got an entire apartment, including a kitchen and washing machine for free use. The apartment is lovingly furnished and the view from the bedroom over the city is famous. Water, fruits are included and the location is also good. The only disadvantage was that it wasn't quite clean (in the kitchen, bathroom and room so on) and the breakfast wasn't very good. All in all, however, it was worth a recommendation and one of our better accommodations in Vietnam.
