Made me pay 200,000 extra dong because I checked in at 3am. No water in room, dirty sheets.. No massage either when I asked... Basically a business trying to stay alive if you ask me. Very dirty and water dripping in bathroom whole night.

Needed a room to stay for the night..

The room really, really didn't follow the photos...the gloss had definitely faded with the real thing. The room stunk of cigarettes, the fridge had mildew and some dark brown gunk spilt all over the inside....the pipe in the bathroom was leaking on the floor...I have stayed in many hostels and have enjoyed them, but honestly, pay a bit more and go elsewhere. The staff were friendly though.

My fiancé and I booked this hotel through Booking.com, as we were travelling from Saigon to Halong Bay and needed somewhere to stay overnight in between. The trip to get here down the dark alley is nerve-wracking to say the least. We arrived in the evening and were greeted at the reception by scantily-clad women. When we got to our room, there was no air conditioning unit, just 1 fan that did nothing to help with the humidity throughout the night. The 'shower' was dirty and the nozzle was basically a hosepipe. The pillow on the bed had an animal faeces upon it. The photos for this hotel are definitely not a true representation of how it looks. Even the name of the hotel is actually 'The Rose Hotel & Massage', confirming our suspicions that this was a local brothel. We were scared to leave our door unlocked or venture out into the corridor until we left the following morning.

Unpleasant

Was here for 6 nights and when reading previous comments about the hotel was very concerned. Even told then will first check the place and then decide to stay or not. To be honest from the time I arrived till the time checked out didn't really have a bad thing to say. The price was very reasonable and for what was paid it's truly worth it. The reception was very helpful and even gave and upgraded room. When ever we request for something they were more than willing to help and even arranged late checkout for free. This is not really a tourist city but if you going south of hai phong or staying in the city I recommend the place. The street the hotel is located is not the best area but then again that will have no impact.

This was an overnight stop from Hanoi to Cat Ba Island. Reviews were mixed but we booked anyway.

A large but quiet hotel which was clean and tidy. Yes the bed mattress was harder that we were used to, but that seems to be the Vietnam norm. So despite the hard mattress I recommend this hotel.

A taxi at 7.20am to the ferry port took about 15 minutes and meant we caught the 8am speedboat to Catba Island. Very straight forward.
