The bungalow was cozy and as described with free wifi, full bathroom, AC, and large bed with bug-netting.  The grounds were very pretty and nestled in a quiet valley with hiking trail locations nearby ranging from easy to difficult.  Views at the top were incredible

The real star here is the family.  They are super friendly and accommodating.  They will meet every need and go above and beyond to help you arrange any travel plans or answer any question.

If your'e looking for a quiet place to do some hiking and want to meet the friendliest family on Cat Ba this is it!

Cozy bungalow, serene valley, and hiking with incredible views

Really nice stay in remote serene area - right off the hiking trail of cat ba national park.  Free bikes and lovely setting.  We anticipated it would be rustic, but did not expect it to have no heat ( it was cold in December!). Limited bathroom facilities w bugs.  High prices for food for a home stay.  Breakfast was minimal.

Great stay, but

Our host was amazing. He took care of all of our meals, outings, and transportation. We were afraid it would be hard to get there but he helped us with each step of the way. He arraigned a bus that picked us up our air bnb and dropped is off at the harbor where a speedboat was waiting to take us to the hotel. They made our meals each day which were so good. We got to play with the puppies and get our feet massaged by the fish in the creek. Our host showed us his pig and really made us feel welcomed. On our outing day we biked to the harbor where he got us a boat for 2 that took us around the bay where we kayaked, swam, and fished.  The AC was nice. We were even a bit cold at night sometimes! When it was time to leave our host arraigned our transportation back to the harbor and a taxi to the boat we were taking to get to the airport. This was an amazing experience. You will really be taken care of! I’m glad we did this compared to a cruise. Thank you!

Great get away!

We stayed here for 9 nights and was amazing! Would definitely recommend staying here!
The food was amazing, best spring rolls that I have ever had. Nice to share dinner with other travellers too!
The owner was very helpful with booking boats and kayaks and helping us with various other things. Very friendly and welcoming, lovely family!  
Great place to relax as isn't busy, went for walks through the jungle which was great! 
The views were spectacular and the village is stunning such a change from the busy cities.

We will definitely be returning some time!

Great stay couldn't ask for anything else!

Everything was more than perfect! The Food was so delicious and the Bungalow very nice. There is a River in the middle of the resort with small bridges. It looks like in a fairytale. So beautyful! And Most important the owner of the resort has been very helpful and nice. We are so grateful to him.

Simply perfect!

What can I say, me and my partner stayed with Xuan in his family homestay for 2 nights and the most wonderful stay. We stayed in a bungalow for 2, which was spacious and clean. It is very basic but we managed pretty well. The surroundings of the homestay are absolutely stunning, we couldn't believe it when we got there. 

We found getting there a bit tricky, coming from Hanoi we got a coach and ferry to Cat Ba, then a taxi to Beo Pier and had a bit of a struggle trying to figure out which boat to catch to get to Viet Hai. Do Not get on another boat, get on the local boat to Viet Hai, people will try to scam you! We got picked up from the port at Viet Hai by our host and were amazed when we got there.

The meals were fantastic, especially the Vietnamese spring rolls, the best I have ever tasted. It was great to share our table with fellow travellers to share tips and stories about our travels. We had a wonderful sleep here too, it is so peaceful, all you can hear is nature. What a change from Hanoi!

We went a hike whilst we were staying here, up to a viewpoint. It took about an hour to get up, and I can tell you that it is not for the faint hearted, but it is definitely worth it. The view was absolutely incredible and we were the only ones up there!

If you want to experience real Vietnam nature and don't mind living basic, I would highly recommend here. I cannot thank you the host and his family enough, you were a big part of our Vietnam experience, and we will definitely be returning!

Two perfect days::: Good morning Cat Ba bus to Cat Ba. $15 taxi to Cat Ba National Park- WOW hike.
Ben Beo ferry station close to town center. 4 pm Viet Hai Ferry $2 thru amazing scenery one hour to fishing village Viet Hai. Stay at Whisper of Nature Bungalows. Walk in the farms, hike, ride a bike, get a fish spa sitting in the river. This is the spot!
