Arriving in Caracas from Europe (via Paris, Pointe a Pitre) is long and laborious, so landing in Maiquetia and reaching the hotel, the reception was important and the necessary rest was accompanied by a large basket of fruit in the room; later the beautiful terrace facing the park, overlooking the city, were useful after our planned many tours in the wonderful green Venezuela.

El hotel Ávila is a classic of Caracas. Its architecture is one of the most respected and valued for its good taste and distinctiveness. It is a little abandoned and you notice that it has weather like this. Sometimes it looks like a ghost hotel.

I have visited the hotel on several occasions. It has a staff that is mostly friendly and respectful. The areas are spacious, well-lit, safe and quiet in all its extension. Very good hotel, excellent restaurant. plenty of vegetation, green areas, very good care, large parking and security.. with included gym, basketball court, really very comfortable, and can be reached by public transport.

Hermoso is the name of the game.

Stayed here on and off over a few weeks. The housekeeping and event staff were so lovely. Stayed in various rooms each time we stayed. The rooms do vary. And I would recommend the suites. We had rooms overlooking the mountain and the view was lovely. 
Breakfast was rather nice and use of the sports centre (between specified times) was included.
Security is good and I felt very safe there. 
It is a hotel with character. Yes, it is not the most modern hotel (this is part of it's charm), and yes some parts could benefit from a lick of paint, but given the current situation this is understandable. 
It was very quiet while we were there. They had an event one night, but we could not hear this in our room.

Super staff

The hotel Avila has fallen into disrepair. Despite having facilities whose aesthetics have been carefully guarded, the hotel never provides the services it claims to have. Mainly, I was never able to use the pool. It remained dirty and unmaintained during the two days I stayed there, although I was informed at the reception that, the day after my arrival, the pool would be cleaned and would be open for the use of guests, which never happened. Never cleaned the pool, and of course, never opened it for use. The flies are the common guests of the hotel. There are flies everywhere, literally, in the restaurant no longer bothering while I was with the family, in the rooms, the guests are also in place.

Beautiful gardens, the pool is very beautiful. The decoration is seasonal. Careful details. Comfortable rooms. Excellent menu quality in the restaurant. It's a trip to the glamorous past of Caracas. It's not central. It's a relaxing and quiet place. A jewel in Caracas.

Hotel with enchantment

It's a modest hotel that's worth staying in, nothing luxurious but very comfortable, it's well-located, and it's Caracas' cultural heritage for all the years it's got, and therefore it's well-preserved! the breakfast is rich but you can improve it, it's got a swimming pool and a gym and it's a safe hotel.
