Holy moly. The Casey Jones Station Inn wins the award for being the worst motel I've ever stayed and I've stayed at some skuzzy places. 

So I was driving to Cincinnati from Austin. I made it to Jackson, Tennessee around 2:30 in the morning. The Casey Jones Inn looked super cute from the outside at night. I googled Casey Jones and the Casey Jones Village looked family friendly, a place I'd want to take my kids. The motels around it advertised $32 vacancies, so I figured the Casey Jones Inn would be about the same. 

I went in to the little run down office. An employee greeted me and I asked about a vacancy. She looked me up and down and asked a couple of times if I had anyone with me. I told her I was flying solo and just needed to rest my head before I could finish my trek. She seemed unsure, but then told me the price for a room was $53. $53? That's hotel prices, and was way over what the motels around were asking. I thought "eff it, I'm already here". I was exhausted and just wanted to lay down so I paid the $$. The employee asked if I wanted smoking or non smoking. I told her non-smoking. She then kept reiterating "no smoking" as if to remind me to not smoke in the non-smoking room I'd asked for. Again, whatever. Maybe she's dealt with people that do. 

So I got my card key and went to my room. Upon being closer to the rooms, I realized how run down the place was - even from the outside. I hoped the inside was better. I stepped in. It looked like it hadn't been renovated since the early 90s/late 80s. The smell hit me like a ton of bricks - it smelled like BO and like it had been hot boxed with cigarettes. I talked myself into staying - I've slept at many punk houses, so this was no different, but why was the receptionist so weird about smoking if she was sending me to the smelliest room...also $53 for this? Anyway, I put all my stuff down and went to clean up and noticed blood splatter on the bathroom door. So I look down and there's pee and what looks like a joint in the toilet (I flushed before I realized I should have taken a picture). No shower for me I guess. I tried to close the curtains, but they didn't close all the way. Again...$53? Then, I noticed the smoke detector had was dismantled, lights were broken, and there were large areas of mismatched paint where it looked like someone tried to fix/patch something. $53??? And you guys were worried about me smoking and having guests? So I decided to reluctantly crawl into bed, trying to forget about the blood and smell. There was a blood droplet that looked smeared on the white sheet. Awesome. 

I still stayed because I already paid and was too exhausted to go argue for a refund and find a new place to stay. Meanwhile, people were partying outside and it took forever to finally doze off. I woke up to the stench of the room assaulting myself face, so I gathered my stuff and high-tailed it out of there.

Don’t Waste Your Money at the Hepatitis Motel

This place is no longer the M Star hotel, it has reverted back to being the Casey Jones Motel. 

I stayed here as a kid about 35 years ago, and decided to stay when passing through town. It was part of a railroad themed tourist attraction when I came here as a kid, but now is just a basic motel. There was a pool, but it has since been filled in with dirt. There also were rail cars you could stay in in the back, but they are now abandoned. 

Pros: 

* Surprisingly clean smelling room
* Clean linens and towels
* Quiet

Cons:

* Room is in poor physical condition. I was in a lower level room which had extensive water damage from the unit above. You could see water stains on the ceiling and walls, and there was a small hole in the wall near the baseboard. 

* Small amount of mold in bathroom, probably due to a non functioning fan. 

* All surfaces were generally worn, especially the bedroom furniture, bathroom counters and the tub. Furnishings were a mish mash of stuff from various hotels. My phone was from Homewood Suites. 

All in all, I don't regret staying here, especially for the price. There are better options though. But don't stay at the motel6 next door. They were having a prostitution bust that night. 

Worn out

the front desk manager was rude spoke over me.... I would recommend this hotel for dogs stay...the staff was inconsiderate and made me feel like I had made a horrible decision the front desk manager was rude beyond my wildest expectations

the customer service at this hotel was horrible

We find this motel to be clean and very affordable.  The staff is friendly and accommodating. We would visit here again if in the area and recommend to those traveling on a tight budget.  We love to go, but hate to spend money unnecessarily.

We have stayed here 2 times.

If you plane on visiting the Casey Jones museum next door then don't bother staying at the hotel. The two properties are owned by separate people and are nothing alike. The hotel has had it's influx in drug use and dangerous people which stay there. The smoke alarms don't work either. The place use to be nice and the owners in themselves are not worth giving the cheap price too. Spend an extra ten-15 dollars to stay across the street somewhere but not next door either. There is not a pool anymore or breakfast There are plenty of problems with the rooms as well.

Bad Place

The rooms were nice the last time we stayed here 4 years ago but it appears that's when the maintenance department quit. Our room was still OK, so we went ahead and stayed. The things that were wrong were just little things, but the little things started to add up; the safety latch was broke off and not replaced, There had been a major water leak from the upstairs room,that caused some water damage to the wall and ceiling in our room and was apparently not going to be repaired ever. So friendly staff, cheapest rate in town, this is it. Also on a positive note room had more than I expected micro wave, fridge,coffee pot all nice to have when away from home. It does have a very Unique front office.
