Our sky room had no windows, but we enjoyed the cleanliness of the place, and all the advice left by the managers. Very convenient kitchen, we feel at home! Check in/out autonomously, very easy.

Super quality to price ratio

Overall I had a great stay. I stayed for 2 nights in the double suite on the 3rd floor.  

If you are self-sufficient and don't mind sharing a bathroom, kitchen, and sitting area then this place is for you.  The whole place was very clean.  The lodge is a cross between an apartment home and a hostel.  If you are looking for a front desk, valet and bellman you will NOT have that here.  It is perfect for someone seeking clean and safe budget accommodations with easy access to Greenpoint and Williamsburg.  

E-mail communication with the host prior to my stay was great.  All information was e-mailed to me ahead of time including the door code.  No problems getting in and settled.  I paid ahead of time online with a credit card. 

The location is amazing- 10 minute walk from Williamsburg and the G subway line is right outside the door.  I felt very safe in the area.

I ran into Gloria (the manager I think) and she asked how everything was and if I needed anything.  Other than that I really didn't see anyone else the whole time I was there except other guests coming and going that were staying on the second floor.  Totally fine with me- I love my privacy.

Complimentary ear plugs were in the bathroom and bedroom- nice touch.  Towels were also provided.  

I wouldn't hesitate to stay again if I needed to come back to Brooklyn.  

My only suggestion would be to improve the beds- my bed had a metal frame and it was very squeaky with the smallest movement.  I was staying alone but this could be a factor if you are staying with someone and don't want to wake them up. 



Great stay 

The property is located right next to a subway station (Nassau Avenue). Price is very good for New York. We were in the deluxe double room and it was very spacious and had a radiator. The shared kitchen and bathroom were both very clean. The only two negatives were the fact that the room was on the street side and there is a lot of night life. And the bed was a metal creaky bed, we could not move without the other person waking up.

Great location and price for New York City

We've rent a room at Greenpoint Lodge for 3 nights. We had one of the three rooms on the 2nd floor. Kitchen and bathroom shared. 

According to the average prices in the city, it wasn't too expensive but still, it could be less pricy. Everything was clean, but it's not noise proof. We heard the other family watching tv and all. The neighbourhood is charming and there's plenty of convenience stores, restaurants and cafes around. Just a step from the subway entrance. 

Between a hotel and a hostel

In a city without much clean and safe budget accommodation, the Greenpoint Lodge stands out as a budget accommodation with some charm and a cozy atmosphere -- it definitely fills a void. Europeans will find the style of accommodation similar to hostels throughout Europe and South America, while Americans might find some of the shared amenities -- bathroom and living space -- annoying. I stayed in the "Rose Room," which was advertised as a "deluxe double," but there really wasn't anything deluxe about it. For example, it was off the living room and had a glass window over the door, which meant morning lights in the living room woke me up (this glass should be painted over in a creative way). The bed was clean, but not very comfortable and a bit rickety. There are no windows in the room -- although there is an a/c for the summer -- which made things a bit stuffy. The wifi is blazing fast, which was nice. 

I think it's a bit odd, how the staff/owner(s) go out of their way to avoid engaging with guests. They send you a door code -- I hope this is changed frequently for security -- and then tell you to find your room with a key already in the door. I ran into somebody who cleans for the hostel when I arrived, but there wasn't any kind of formal welcome, because you are told to read through a big packet of papers in your room.

For me, as someone who has lived in NYC before and is familiar with the city and neighborhood, this was fine. But foreign tourists or others new to New York, might feel a bit confused by the systems and wish they could have, at least at the very beginning of their stay, a warm, personal welcome.

The bathroom on the second floor was clean, had plenty of hot water, and I never had to wait to use it. The kitchen is also well-stocked and clean, if you would like to cook. 

Basically, this place is like AirBnb without the AirBnb or a hostel, but without any welcoming environment. The owners do say you can text or email them at any time, though, so I guess that's nice.

Greenpoint is one of NYC's most charming neighborhoods -- a mix of Polish and hipster, and a few minutes walking from infamous Williamsburg. While the "Lodge" is right next to a subway station, the G Line requires a transfer to get to Manhattan, so tourists who are first-timers to NY might want to consider if they have the time to waste getting back and forth to the accommodation. That said, Greenpoint is a lovely neighborhood, so it might be worth the effort.

Weird systems, but clean, great wifi and location

Yeah the room was really clean and a good space at a very reasonable rate and right next to the subway. The bag storage is a bit of a life saver too. Unfortunately we were only there for one night and pretty much only used it to sleep. Lots of great shops and restaurants in the area too.

Great location

A hostel isn't a hotel. It should always be clear. The pictures are very optimally photographed. The hostel is a little old and its glory days are almost over. The mattress was very well laid out. But for about 35€ per person/night you can't expect in New York either. The price is really great! We didn't even get to see the owners. The problems we had: light broke, heating couldn't be switched off. We communicated via email and it was immediately responded and the problems were eliminated. One thing definitely didn't go away - we had mice in the kitchen.

Were expecting more

Considering that you have to invest a lot of money to stay in NYC, this seems to me to be the best solution on the market. Rather than living in a stall in Manhattan, you can cook and live in a clean environment.

Position and price

Overall, the structure is a bit dirty but the place is clean. The entrance to the apartments is through a code that is sent via email to the reservation: then, however, the various apartments all have the door open, Where we were staying was a two-room apartment with the bathroom, the kitchen and the living room in common. The thing didn't bother me except that the room was without windows and the only air exchange was a convector not very integrated that communicated directly with the outside. The living room was also without windows. The only door you controlled was that of the room, not at all solid. The girl who runs the hostel and the guys we share the app is also very kind. You can't claim such a very low price for a very nice night, however.
