we stayed here last year and it was such a lovely place to stay clean roomy and fantastic for our needs a short walk into the centre and a short taxi ride to bedford place . I looked to book again for the august bank holiday for a family wedding but was fully booked . Will return to number 10 again 

clean big and bright

I spent 2 nights at Number 10 in July. It's a very nice little house in a quiet, charming residential neighborhood 10 minutes walk from the train station/15 minutes from the city centre. The room was perfect, decorated with a lot of taste, like the whole house. Comfortable bunk bed. Large bathroom with bathtub and shower, light bath with a nice parquet. The self-catering formula was perfect for me: large shared kitchen downstairs, very well equipped, friendly homeowners, very easy to join if necessary (on the other side of the street). The first shops, restaurants... are 10-15 minutes walk away. The harbor is on the opposite side (never miss the ferry island in 30 minutes):

My husband and I stayed at Number 10 Self Catering for one night. The host was very welcoming when checking us in. He was very accommodating and provided us with advice with where to eat, what cocktail bars were around and best way to get to the locations. 

We were allocated a room in the ground floor. We had an ensuite bathroom, and a small courtyard with garden table and chairs to look out on. 
The whole place was decorated beautifully. It was sparkling clean, and the beds were VERY comfortable, safe to say I had the best nights sleep. 

There is also a communal living room and kitchen available on ground floor. The whole place had a home like feel to it.

There is plenty of parking available, and a local uber service is cheap and reliable. 

We will definitely be returning again.

This has to be one of the best value places to stay in Southampton. The room was very large , super clean and well equipped . It has beautifully kept self catering facilities on the ground floor should you wish to avail yourselves to it. If in Southampton again I will use again and can without hesitation recommend it to others.

Situated about 10-15 minutes walk uphill from Southampton Central train station this self-catering option is located amidst a number of similarly positioned guest houses in Landguard Road. 

Check-in took place at the Mayfair guest house at Number 11 - I received a warm welcome from Mark who offered me a choice of hot/cold drink and provided me with some useful information regarding the locality. Number 10 is just opposite the Mayfair, adjacent to a veterinary surgery and a car park that serves both. 

The accommodation is luxuriously furnished and clearly little expense had been spared in providing guests with every available comfort. The bed afforded a great nights sleep and the bathroom facilities, though not en-suite, were in top order. A wash hand basin was also available in the room. 

All of the facilities were scrupulously clean and extremely well presented with outstanding attention to detail. In addition the linens, towels, toiletries and hospitality tray were all first-class. There was a TV in the room, which I didn't watch. WiFi I found a little patchy but it was generally fine. 

During my stay I didn't use the kitchen facilities, however, it was ideally equipped for self-catering. The sitting room was warm and comfortable and the whole place had a very relaxed ambience. 

There was a bathroom at the rear of the kitchen that was for the use of two guest rooms on the ground floor of the building (1 and 2). I was in room 1 and during my stay I elected to use the second bathroom/shower-room at the top of the stairs. 

Although I can't help but feel that this accommodation arrangement might be better set-up as an apartment rather than a house I had an enjoyable stay. However, I have to confess I was rather confused by the whole set-up? There seemed to be a number of other people living/staying at the property who were accommodated upstairs as well - I wasn't sure if these people were guests? 

Since room 1 was the first door on the right by the entrance there was some noise from other guests/residents (?) entering and leaving both late at night as well as early in the morning. Since the room faced the car-park there was also some traffic noise. 

I was hoping that this place would provide a relaxing stay although in this respect I have to say I was slightly disappointed. Although a two night stay was just long enough I would certainly be prepared to stay again.

Number 10 didn't quite meet all the same standards that other reviewers have clearly enthused about on this site. However, on the whole it's a very worthy contender with considerably more positives than negatives. Overall excellent quality and service together with reasonable value make it a rewarding choice.

Very Good Indeed

The rooms are scrupulously clean and comfortable. All furnishings of a high standard.We had a ground floor room without en suite but there were nearby toilets and shower. Warm welcome on arrival. Lovely for a weekend break. WE didn't cook but there were ample facilities. Close to town.

friendliness, comfort and style

We have chosen this solution because we have to use Southampton only at a strategic level, not to visit it. Great for celiacs, it allows you to prepare food spending little. Parking in front of the house, it is quiet and the room envisions nothing at 4 stars. To note the common kitchen, well equipped and clean, which is not easy since we cook in many. We had to pay a little more attention to problems of gluten contamination (though not insurmountable), for those who do not have this inconvenience the solution is even more valid.
