We ate as a group of friends here, the customer service from Max and Ryan was outstanding, very polite and hospitable, nothing was too much for them  
Rooms very clean. Family friendly outdoor area too.

Excellent customer service

We stayed in the 2 bed cottage which is now let as an individual self-catering cottage.  The cottage is totally delightful, beautifully furbished and has a wonderful view.  We have stayed in many self-catering cottages in various parts of the country, including the Matlock and Bakewell areas, and this must be our favourite.  From the moment we entered the cottage we were filled with pleasure.   When we left the cottage we had forgotten and important item, not only did the owner of the cottage contact us to inform us of this, but he was extremely helful in reuniting us with the item.  I would love to stay in the cottage on a future visit to England.

Holmefield Cottage (self-catering)

We stayed two nights in this very comfortable guesthouse. Our room was spacious and clean and had a combination of old features and modern conveniences. It had a lovely view and is well placed outside Matlock. The cooked breakfast was very nice with quality ingredients and there was reasonable choice. Despite being on a main road we were unaware of any traffic and there was plenty of on-site parking. The owners were friendly and helpful and we had a lovely relaxing weekend

Enjoyable stay

This is a great period property. My room had a four poster bed, great view out the window. There was a bath in the bedroom (weird) but a good shower in the bathroom. 

The guest lounge was very comfortable.

Breakfast was good but it was a bit of a pain having to pre-order the night before (to reduce wastage). 

The stairs are quite steep and lugging my large suitcase up was quite a feat. 

For the price charge I considered my stay good value.

Lovely country house

Tidy and comfortable place at the northern edge of Darley Dale. Easy walk beside the railway into Matlock, good bus links to Derby, Bakewell and Buxton. Be warned, no-one locally does meals on a Sunday evening except the Indian restaurant so if you are not a curry fan, you are bit stuck unless you travel. There is an ok pub within walking distance, nothing special but a good local, welcoming and with real ale. 

Lovely

My new husband and I wanted a very small intimate wedding and so after our ceremony, Kate was kind enough to accommodate our small party of 14 with excellent food and an open bar. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. My only regret is that we can only put 5 stars max on the review as I'd give the Holmefield 100 stars if I could for making it such a fantastic wedding reception. The decor is stunning. I can't recommend highly enough!

Absolutely amazing!!

Lovely welcome and lovely room. We  had the loft room and it perfect. Breakfast was lovely with quality produce and so much choice. Bed linen lovely quality and lovely touches in the room. 
Set in breath taking scenery. Although the guesthouse is just off a busy road this didn't affect our room and the rooms on the road side clearly have this stated in the website.
Advise to book direct with hotel as cheaper!
