Great find. Exceptional hosts, David and Irene, couldn't have been more helpful, very clean. Great breakfast, lovely lounge area, spotless rooms.
 Provided plenty of local info on places to see, good local restaurant, Delilahs only real choice in lochinver staff very good.

You must stop here

The location, accommodation and the hosts were all exemplary! This was our fourth night on the NC500 and it was by far the best, and best value, stop-over we experienced. Even before arriving we received really helpful travel advice with suggestions of what to do and see and where to dine in the evening. We followed all the advice and we’re not disappointed! 
On arrival we were shown to an immaculately clean, light and spacious room. We also had access to a large, comfortable lounge. 
Breakfast was excellent - and accompanied by more useful onward travel advice. 
We cannot recommend this highly enough - you can pay far more and get far less. We would love to return for a longer stay.

Don’t miss this gem!

We stayed in Tigh Na Sith Guest House during our trip around the NC500 back in July and it did not disappoint! We only stayed for one night but the stay itself and our hosts, Irene and Dave, made an great impression.

After making the initial booking on their website (top tip: which is cheaper than booking.com!), Irene kindly reached out via email to ask if we needed any assistance planning our trip and offered to book a meal in one of the two local restaurants on our arrival day. We really appreciated this gesture and actually did quite a few of their suggestions for the NC500! The room itself was very clean, comfortable and spacious, and the breakfast was delicious too. Again, Irene and Dave were superstars and very welcoming and friendly and had more great tips for us when we met them in person.

We would definitely stay here again if we were to do the NC500 again in the future!

Fantastic experience, would come again!!

Excellent service during booking (book direct if you can), I received a phone call advising of local restaurants and then Irene kindly advised of our options and then booked a table for our arrival to their beautiful location in Lochinver! 

Upon arrival, we got a warm welcome from David & Irene, after quick history lesson and a chat we got our things sorted and had a much needed lovely hot shower after a long day. The room and facilities were also very clean - we stayed in the Minch which is the strait it looks out onto - the view from our room was amazing! 

After a quick walk along the lovely Bay Area at the bottom of the street, we headed to the local restaurant (Delilah’s). We had a great evening of food, drinks and fun, just two minutes walk from the b&b. 

The next morning we had tasty a 2 course breakfast which was a first, and also some tasty haggis! 

Then the fun began, my car wouldn’t work.. David quickly swung into action to assist and arranged a local mate/mechanic to come have a quick look while I arranged breakdown cover. 

During around a 12 hour wait, David and Irene were absolutely brilliant to both me and my girlfriend and could not offer enough help, advice and the use of their facilities. 

We did manage to explore lochinver a bit more than planned, and then we even got to see some deer very close by to their house - which was a bonus! 

Couldn’t recommend this place enough for a stop during your trip, you’ll be welcomed with a smile and helped to the best of their ability in whichever situation you may find yourself in. 

We’ll hopefully find the time to return and pay our thanks, but hopefully this is the start! 

The perfect place to stay/breakdown, excellent hosts!!

Had a wonderful stay. Irene and David were most helpful in giving us tips for out journey. Irene even contacted us ahead of time to book us into a restaurant for the night.

The accommodation was top quality and the beds super comfortable. The breakfast was the best we had on our trip.

Had a wonderful stay here, The welcome was lovely, The room was well appointed with comfortable beds and spotlessly clean room and bathroom. The breakfast was exceptional (probably the best we had in our trip to Scotland) . Would recommend to anyone travelling in the area.

Home from home

Top quality B&B with top quality hosts. Great location and everything was of a first class experience,  including the room  bed, bathroom and all facilities. Attention to detail from the hosts couldn't be better. Even their recommendations for dinner in a local restaurant.

It’s taken me months to get to writing a review of this particular guest house as I was in a real quandary about what to say, so as not to upset Irene and David who were one of the best hosts whilst we travelled the NC500, but my dilemma revolves around the rate they charge for B&B. Anyway I’ll give you my honest opinion and hopefully they will see my point of view if they read this review. I’ve also done something I never normally do before writing a review and that’s to read what others have said. This has made me feel even worse about discussing the room rate in my review, as no-one else has even broached the subject. 

When I booked the guesthouse through Booking.com Irene was in touch almost immediately to thank us for our booking and to welcome us. Nearer to the time she contacted us again to ask if we wanted her to book us into Peets for our dinner, which we agreed to (take Irene up on this offer, as this will be the best food you will taste on the NC500 – look at mine and others reviews on TripAdvisor and you will see what I mean). Irene also did something for us to give us a better room rate which I won’t discuss on this forum as it may get her in trouble, but it was very much appreciated.

When we arrived at the guesthouse we received a really warm welcome from both Irene and David, and it was as if we were old friends. They showed us to our rooms and they were immaculate and beautifully decorated. Ours had a stunning view as well. Everything we could require was in the room to make us comfortable for the overnight stay. We also had use of the massive sitting/breakfast room, which had comfortable seating and a huge TV.

Breakfast was excellent, and again Irene and David showed us their impeccable hosting skills. They also imparted a lot of information about our onward journey and Irene called one of the pleasure boats to see if we could get on a trip on the loch that morning, which she successfully booked us on. This trip was fantastic, so ask Irene about doing this – you won’t regret it.

I now look at all I’ve written and I feel really shabby about the next bit, but if I didn’t say it then I would not feel that I was being truthful to myself. The rate we paid for staying at the guesthouse was £40 dearer than anywhere else on our tour. We stayed in eleven accommodations on our trip up from the Midlands, around the NC500 and back down to the Midlands, so quite a few. Some were good some not quite so, but I think the one I’m comparing Tigh Na Sith to is the one we stayed in at Wick, which had the same caring owners, the same fantastic rooms, the same wonderful breakfast, but was £52 per room cheaper. I really do think that the room rate that Irene and David charge is a smidgeon high.

Stating my bit about the room rate has not made me in anyway joyous, but I’m content that I’ve spoken the truth in this review. Given that, I would still highly recommend this guesthouse, and I still think that Irene and David are very special people with a lovely guesthouse that anyone will enjoy staying in, and I’m still going to give them five stars.

Exceptional guesthouse

I stayed here during my trip doing the North Coast 500 with my partner and another couple. 
Loved my stay at this place and would highly recommend staying here. 
The hosts were lovely and very tentative. Breakfast was lovely. 
All the little touches the hosts provided really made the stay. Sweets on the leaving. Providing advice on places to visit before we arrived and when we were there.

North coast 500

We received very warm welcome by the host, David. Afternoon snacks, tea/coffee were served on our arrival. The room is tastefully decorated making us feeling comfortable and relaxing. Excellent breakfast spread and generously served by Irene with a smile, making us feeling wonderful in the morning. 

One of their wall power socket has USB charging ports, a nice touch of convenience for us and no need to unpack/pack the chargers. 

The host also offered to help us book dinner in advance, making our stay effortless, just relax and enjoy the evening.

Irene also suggested us to use B869 instead of the A road to Kylesku, it was such a scenic drive and we just couldn’t resist a great lunch at Kylesku Hotel, making our NC500 journey ever more enjoyable.

I only discovered 2 days later that my watch was left at the B&B. David and Irene were so kind to have it returned to me by mail.

We find Lochinver is a better overnight or 2-night stop than Ullapool. One can catch the last ferry from Scrabster to Stromness (Orkney Islands) or the late morning ferry from Stromness to Scrabster, and still have plenty of time to absorb in the scenic views along the way.

Absolutely one of the best B&B we have stayed during our month long Scotland holiday
