Booked the Laird and Dog Inn, Lasswade for Tuesday 5th December 2023 for 2 nights.
I booked it mainly for the price I paid via booking.com. The twin room was small with ensuite shower but adequate for our needs. The decor a bit tired and could do with redecorating. Price included cooked breakfast and free parking. Tea/ coffee  and biscuits provided.
The bus stop was right outside the Inn  both ways which we used to commute into Edinburgh  several times .
Staff were friendly and helpful, room was warm and cosy. Towels were changed for the next day.
I had no complaints about this place and I will definitely book this place again.


Comfortable and cosy bed and breakfast Inn.

Needed somewhere close to the bypass for business. So glad I found this wee gem. Fairly basic rooms but clean and comfortable with Tv and kettle etc. Haggis neeps and tatties maybe the best I have ever tasted. Lovely bar with great choice. Special shout out to the pub and local fire service when we had to evacuate in the early hours of the morning. Dealt with promptly and professionally. Breakfast was first class. Would highly recommend. 

Wee Gem

We stayed here for a wedding taking place nearby and couldn’t be happier! The vegan Scottish breakfast was fantastic, the beer was reasonably priced, and the staff was phenomenal.  There is a bus stop right outside the inn that will take you to Edinburgh. While it was hard to get taxis/Ubers locally, the manager always seemed to find a way. We highly recommend!

Excellent Hospitality

Stayed here on Friday and Saturday night. We were met at te ar by a very pleasant manager. 
Shown quickly to our room by a very friendly lady.
Rooms were roomy and very comfortable. Great value for price. Breakfast  was very tasty and great products..
We loved our stay and will definitely return.

Stayed here to go to tatoo. Bus stop put side the door straight to town center.

Comfortable and clean room, filling breakfast & good service. Nice people & quiet despite there is a busy pub downstairs. The history is quite neat too. Missing USB plugs is the only issue. Would stay again.

Laird & Dog - Honest, Stout & Steady 

Fabulous food and first class service. 
A mid-week catch up with friends. We were made very welcome on arrival, chose whichever table we wanted and menu is extensive. Our food was served quickly and every plate was huge, piping hot and large portions. We stayed 3 hours and were not chased to pay or leave after our meal.
Thank you to everyone… we had a lovely night and will definitely return again soon.

Friends dinner

We stayed overnight and had dinner and breakfast.  Very clean accommodations.  Food was really good and friendly staff.  Easy to get to downtown ediburgh from here but out the way of the hustle and bustle.

Good Visit

It was a lovely inn it had a real nice atmosphere it was very cosy and relaxing the food was scrumptious we had the fish and steak cooked to perfection it was so fresh the service was excellent from all the staff especially Shawn and Adam they could not have been more accommodating nothing was a problem 
we thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it and it gets a 10 out of 10 from me

A fabulous inn

Having enjoyed food and drinks as the Laird on various occasions over the years, we decided Sunday roast was the order of the day and we certainly were not disappointed!  We received a warm welcome, staff were friendly and very attentive and then came the food...wow!  I made the mistake of having a starter which was delicious but when I saw the size of the roast platter for us both, I knew we would never do it justice.  We tried and enjoyed every bite!  If you haven't already tried it, what are you waiting for?!!!  This is definitely worth a visit and we most certainly will be back.

Sunday roast is not to be missed!

A lovely warm atmosphere, and despite a reduced serving staff complement, service was friendly and prompt.  We enjoyed the Chicken Balmoral with chunky chips as our lunch choice. The seasonal veg (carrots, brussel sprouts, red cabbage) were a bit sad-looking and possibly not today's.  We  each had a delicious flat white/cappuccino coffee to complete our meal.  We both loved the ambience in the Conservatory Restaurant as the winter light faded, and the pretty fairy lights lent a lovely, easy and cosy atmosphere.  Just a word of warning as you exit the restaurant: there is a nasty, unexpected step, which I would suggest is 'lit up' by luminous tape or similar, so as not to miss it, as I did.  Nevertheless we loved our visit, and would thoroughly recommend this delightful Inn, tucked away on the edge of Bonnyrigg.
