A very tired and dated B&B when I booked breakfast was included my expectation was eating in a dining area and not eating in my room on the bed!!!! There was ample parking but not very good for motorcycles because  of the slope although this is not the owners fault the picture doesn't show how steep it is being a solo rider this made it really difficult.

If you do not need luxury and just want the basics and a safe place to sleep, you'll be fine at Jurriaan's place.  It is small and each room is down the same hallway.  All the very basic-ness aside, Jurriaan was very nice, kind and accommodating.  

I Whatsapp'd him my preferred breakfast juice (got the opposite each day) and time and he rolled his cart down with my selections.  You bring your tray inside, dine, and then back on the cart later.

For a budget and last-minute accommodation - fine!

When we parked up, we had to check if it was the same B&B as advertised online. It was but that picture must have been taken at least 10 years ago. 
There is alley right next to the front door with a discarded vodka bottle on the floor. It remained there the whole time we stayed. 
Basically, this is budget accommodation for a budget price and suitable for the traveller that wants to stay a night. During our travels we stayed in 6 other B&Bs. All served a Full English in a dining room or delivered to the room. We got the impression, and told Julian direct, that he is using COVID as an excuse not to serve what is advertised online. This is false advertising. He says that he provides a simple Continental BF but what you get is some toast, packet jams, a box of cereal, apple juice and 1 piece of fruit. He’s taking the p**s. If he served this abroad, they would laugh at him.  
The room had an clean en-suite although the shower itself was temperamental. The bedroom had a 4 socket extension hanging from a wall by 2 rawl plugs. The general bedroom decor and stairway needs a complete refurb. 
This B&B needs investment and its services advertised correctly online. Location, view and free parking is good but you get what you pay for

Get what you pay for

I agree wholeheartedly with the comments made by NevardA. While we did actually briefly meet the host Jurriaan and he was very attentive by WhatsApp, it all felt very impersonal and following 7 nights in a self catering cottage, we were looking forward to a traditional Scottish cooked breakfast, so cereal & toast outside our door was a disappointment. The room was clean and ideal for walkers or cyclists just looking for a place to sleep, but not a good option for people who wanted to feel like they were "on holiday". The linen & towels should be replaced and some basic maintenance tasks like making sure the toilet roll holder & towel hooks actually stay in the wall would make a difference. The guest house was approx 20 mins walk to the town centre for restaurants etc and I don't think this was made clear in the advert for the property

Budget or Basic?

Booked this guest house as it was by far one of the cheapest on the island.  Room was clean but in desperate need of decorating.  Orange walls, burgundy carpet, curtains and bedding.  There was no tv or toiletries in the room either.  Some of the rooms shared a communal bathroom so all night long you heard doors open and shut with people using the toilet.  I found the whole experience very strange as the owner contacted you by text asking what you wanted for breakfast and sent a video on where to park (not actually alot of choice so was quite obvious) and how to access your room.  We never actually saw him. Out of 7 places we stayed on our Scotland tour he was the only one who advertised a cooked breakfast but did not actually provide it.  He said due to covid he could not.  Cereal and toast were left outside of your room at your chosen time.  One of our days there it was torrential rain, cold and 60mph so we went back to the room early.  There was no heating. This did not come on till the evening.

budget accommodation

I booked this b&b for a last-minute, spontaneous trip to Skye and was very happy with my choice. The owner, Jurriaan, was very welcoming and hospitable. He gave my partner and me a lot of information on local sites to visit and always made sure that everything was alright with our stay. The room was beautiful and immaculately clean and the breakfast in the morning was wonderful. Thank you for a great stay!

Bed and Breakfast

Rooms are tired and in need of new linen and pillows, but very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was good. Shared bathroom was spotless. Not suitable for people with mobility issues as there are many narrow stairs.

Good budget accommodation

Stayed here for 2 nights of a 12 night Scotland tour.
Great location close to the town centre.
Jurriaan has fabulous knowledge of the area and more than happy to give tips and advice on places to visit.

Great location, great host

We stayed for two nights during our visit to Skye. When looking for accommodations I initially thought I’d have preferred a place closer to the city centre, but actually the location was great and a good home base to explore the island. The B&B is in walking distance (about 10-15 min) to the centre of Portree and very easy to find from the main road. There are parking spots in front of the house. 
Our room was very spacious and clean and had a very nice view onto the bay. There’s also a common room, where you can hang out if you’re not out and about. We were provided with a drawer full of informations about the island. There was even a folder with different walking/hiking routes and a great many tips, prepared by the owner.
The breakfast is delicious and very generous (you can choose between Continental and Scottish). Jurrian, the owner, is very nice and helpful; we always had a little chat in the morning and he gave us lots of advice on what to see and make time for in the short time we had on Skye. 
If you have trouble walking or climbing steps, this might not be the place for you as both the driveway and the stairs inside the house are quite steep. Other than, this is an excellent B&B to stay at! 
A little advice on Portree: If you want to eat dinner at a restaurant, reserve. Seriously, please reserve. Even before the main season starts, you'll have difficulties to find a table without a reservation or waiting for a very long time.

Great stay on Skye

I wholeheartedly recommend staying at Givendale Guest House! We appreciated the homely atmosphere, generous breakfast, comfortable beds, and a beautiful bay view from the balcony. Location is great, just a 4-minute drive from the center and very quiet. The shared bathroom was always clean. Julian took good care of us with any special request we had, and even helped with planning our day trips. Our stay was pleasant and comfortable and we would be happy to stay here again!
