This is a country house operated by the same family for over 50 years!  The staff operates this inn with great pride.  They make you feel like part of the family.  I loved to get a pint and relax in the drawing room, with fireplace, and watch the tide roll back into the marsh at the end of the loch.  Dinner ,wine and scotch were perfect.  Kinloch Inn is a great value even with the luxury prices.

Perfection

We spent 2 wonderful nights at this special hotel. The hospitality; dining experience and ambience were perfection. We were made to feel most welcome by the owner Isabella Macdonald who was truly a special host as was the general manager Danny. All staff members were friendly, professional and clearly eager to ensure our stay was enjoyable.
The hotel is based around the original building which was previously a hunting lodge and is full of beautiful artwork and portraits of members of the Macdonald lineage. It is located on the edge of Loch Na Dal which is a stunning location and has marvellous views over the loch and beyond.
The formal dining room is intimate and atmospheric with original portraits of some Macdonald ancestors adorning the walls. The cuisine on offer was of an extremely high standard complimented by excellent service from the attending staff.
Our bedroom was extremely spacious and had unrivalled views over the loch. There is a cosy snug bar with an excellent choice of whiskies and a very comfortable sitting room with interesting memorabilia.
This is a special hotel and I cannot commend it highly enough. Thankyou so much to all staff (particularly Isabella and Danny) for your warm hospitality. We left with many fond memories of a wonderful stay.

A truly special hotel.

We spend two days on the Island of Skye and we have been amazed by this traditional hotel. The bedroom was proper and spacious, food was incredibly good by breakfast to dinner no remarks at all ! The bar is super cosy and the whisky list is high level, the only disappointment was the wine list, prices were unreasonably high. The location and the building are very charming and unique!

We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay at Kinloch lodge. It is a bit more expensive than some of the other accommodation on Skye but definitely worth it. Our room was large with a lovely view and decorated in keeping with the hunting lodge aesthetic. There was a big claw foot bath in our room right in front of a window which looked out to the loch. Our room was in an adjacent building and up a couple of flights of stairs and we were helped up with our suitcases. On the ground floor of the building there was a beautiful large lounge and sitting room with a lovely open fire for us to enjoy. 
The breakfast and 3 course dinners were included and really good. This is fine dining and the atmosphere of the dining room was conducive to chatting to other guests which was a plus. 
The staff were friendly and helpful and we didn't want for anything. I also liked that all the fires were lit, including in the bar and a brazier outside on the lawn to sit around and admire the view of the loch. I would go back in a heart beat.

Worth going out of your way for.

Kinloch Lodge is a completely wonderful place, well worth the trip north to the magical Isle of Skye.  I hadn’t been since 2012, although prior to that I had visited regularly for 20 years.  Clearly there have been some changes, all to the good.  Isabella MacDonald and her excellent team provide a warm welcome and kind support.  Our room was large and delightful, the food was fabulous and the intimate nature of the hotel means that you do get to know the other guests.  We were there for a 3 day New Year celebration and stayed on for an extra day.  As the weather was poor, we tucked up by the wood fires and had a complete rest.  It's truly a 'bucket list' place to go.

Just the Best Place to Spend New Year

I need to start this review by saying I won our stay at the Kinloch Lodge in a competition, so I cannot comment on the price of rooms/dinner.

I will start with things to look out for:
- the water from the tap runs yellow. All normal and Deepak the manager did warn us straight away. The water comes straight from the mountain (if I remember correctly)
- the Lodge is in a very remote location. We didn't have a car and taxis were fully booked so we stayed at the Lodge in the evening. So if anything book a cab in advance, even if you end up cancelling.

Now for the good stuff:
- the location is BEAUTIFUL!!! On the edge of a loch, the view from our bedroom (situated in the annexe) was amazing! Some great photo opportunities!
- as I said we didn't have dinner but breakfast was included. And it was mighty!!!! There was a starter and a main course 😂 Everything was tasty and fresh, fresh orange juice was lovely and sweet,and the morning staff was amazing.
- Deepak: evening manager. Absolutely amazing, tried his hardest to get us a cab, got us settling in super quick. Helpful and friendly, Deepak thanks again for everything :-)
- the highlight of our stay though was Joe, the bartender. An absolute credit to the Lodge, he was friendly, super helpful and fun! My friend and I ended up spending the evening at the bar, and Joe just made sure we were comfortable, very kindly veered slightly of menu when making my cocktail (please don't get him in trouble for this, it was very much appreciated!), honestly great human being.

I didn't get the name of the young lady who was behind the bar (long black hair and tattoos) but she was lovely and friendly too.

A great place to stay, peaceful and in a wonderful setting. Amazing, friendly, helpful staff, we had a great time :-)

Short but awesome stay at the Kinloch Lodge

We eagerly anticipated our anniversary celebration meal and everything was exquisite - the kind of food we often experience on our Michelin & Trencherman monthly recommendations for tasting menus. No complaints from us whatsoever. We dropped a star simply in the service side. We felt it was a little over familiar and the major boo boo of overcharging us by £200 left a sour taste :/ but no reflection of the food consumed. Just more care and attention would have avoided this. Would we still return & recommend - a big resounding yes!

Exquisite food as anticipated simply no complaints - slightly disappointing customer service

We had a wonderful time. Very cozy acommodations, great fresh food menu changes daily, very helpful staff. We had a flat tyre in the middle of nowhere, called the hotel and they literally saved us in 40 min while insurance would take 3h/4h to come

Highlight of our stay: Joe’s Mezcal negroni. Not on the menu (should be), ask for it!! 

Lovely scottish experience!

Lovely place. Excellent food. Very friendly staff. Some of the decor rather tired but all adds to the charm of the place. Lots of interesting historical family memorabilia. We were even treated to a piper before dinner, courtesy of someone else’s birthday. Isabella is a mine of knowledge on things to do locally, of which there is lots, especially if you are keen on wildlife. Would love to come again. 

Lovely place. 

Kinloch Lodge is a very comfortable hotel with a calm ambience and the most wonderful hospitality.  The rooms were very clean and looked like they had just been painted.  The bed was so comfortable that we slept well from day one and the bathroom was to die for, with a big bath a big shower with two types of shower head and most importantly lots of hot water which took a wee while to run hot but never ran out.
The staff could not do enough for us.  If we asked for something they brought two, one lady even came and removed a wasp from the room as I was so frightened of it and she was in the middle of her own work and could have said she was too busy, but all the staff were like that.  They were smart, clean, and extremely personable.
The food was out of this world.  It tasted good, it was beautifully presented and most of all the portions were not so small that we needed to go out for fish and chips afterwards.  The dinner was 5 courses including the coffee and sweets and there were the most delicious rolls with it.  Our only problem was my husband being brought a mushroom when he said he didn’t like them, and they would have sorted that out immediately, but I put it on my plate before they got a chance.
I will say they could be more dog friendly, but they make it clear what the policy is, and one has a choice then whether to go.  
The owner, Lady Isabella Macdonald was very sociable and helpful, arranging for us to go on an otter trail which we really enjoyed, and she was there every morning making her presence known and checking with the guests that all was well.
You can see the staff are a team and appear to enjoy their work.  Noone was ever too busy to deal with us and followed through with our requests with the greatest attitudes.
The area around the hotel is breathtaking.  I enjoyed seeing Skye and finding out a lot more about the history of the Macdonald’s and the Macleod’s and so on.
The 64,000-dollar question “would we return?”  Yes we definitely would.  I have no hesitation of recommending this hotel for a calm quiet holiday with luxury and good taste.
