Where do i start with this place?
I have stayed in some real poop pits in my time and im talking post communist Romania in the sticks. This dump gets the crown though. 
Sockets hanging off walls, curtains that neither cover the window, nor are they safe to touch without gloves, cigarette burns everywhere, the room absolutely stank of cigarette smoke, the sink had a dried moldy cloth in it, wall paper hanging off walls.
The walls where moldier than a ten week old loaf, filthy stains all over the walls like nobody had cleaned it in years. 
A cupboard looked like it had been broken in half and then just put together again and the door was broken, there was what looked like blood splattered inside the light shade on the ceiling! It was so bad, I had to put my socks in the bin as the floor was so rancid. (Which is a shame, I really like those socks) 
I also had to sleep in my clothes with my hood up because I didn't want to catch lice. (I really hope I've not caught lice)
There are also lots off CCTV cameras everywhere giving the impression that your valuables will be safe should you dare venture out amongst the walking dead stumbling around the surrounding area. Quite reassuring until you notice all the cables have been cut!!!!
Now for the positives. If you want to experience what it's like living in a crackhouse for a few nights, this is the spot for you! 
If you want to catch an STI without the guilt of cheating on your beloved, this is the spot for you!
If you feel the need to spend a night rattling like a heroin addict awaiting dawn, just so you can get out of this pit, then this spot is right up your alley!
I reckon the Aldi further up the road had dustbins that would be a lot more comfortable and cleaner! 
Oh and by the way, if you decide to stay here, the delightful bleep every 5 seconds from the alarm can be heard all night, even upstairs. 
This hovel should be cleaned with napalm, raised to the ground and the earth where it used to stand salted!

The complete opposite of what is considered a nice guest house. If I could give it -5, I would.

Absolutely disgusting that they're even allowed to rent out this place. The room was filthy and really outdated. In dire need of renovation. Shower door did not close and shower temperature wasn't adjustable so too hot to use. Bathroom door wouldn't close properly and lock didn't work so the door would just open up whilst you're in the bathroom. The carpet was filthy with sticky stains everywhere, had to avoid walking on the carpet near the bed as it was so filthy and sticky. Grubby marks on the wall paint. Very outdated room, furniture and shower room. Shower was dripping and wouldn't stop.1 wall light broken. A lot of noisey traffic as it's on a main road. Haven't got a single good thing to say about it. Don't waste your money!!

Avoid at all cost

The room was filthy!
Dust everywhere, a condom on the floor, holes in the walls, wall paper peeling off of the walls!
the bathroom was so vile neither of us wanted to even use the shower! so we waited until we got home! 
i booked 2 nights separately(Friday and Saturday), at 10am on the Saturday, we were told that there was some bad news, that the room was unavailable the second night (we paid for both nights on check-in) 
The (what I can only assume was the manager) man, said he would see what he can do! and then I had to hunt around the guest house to find an answer, only to be told, don’t worry it’s all sorted…. no apology no nothing! 
had we not been going to download for the day there would have been no way we would have stayed!!!
Whoever runs their Booking.com account needs some training! when we got there we were told they had already phoned 5 people to cancel as they booked rooms that were not available….
he does not realise that declining the check in time is not cancelling a reservation!

Have nothing bad to say about my stay at Ambers Guest house (although I never actually got to meet Amber)! 

Only £30 for a night which compared to all the other hotels in Derby was a bargain, especially as I booked it last minute. 

It might not be located in the nicest location in Derby, but is anywhere!? It’s only a ten minute walk from town and just a bit more to the train station. 

I was checked in by a lovely man who was extremely friendly and welcoming.

The room I stayed in was only a single, but had a TV, sink and towels and toilet roll provided. 

The toilets and shower were in separate rooms, both very adequate standard. 

Ambers guest house is certainly not modern in the slightest, so don’t expect the Ritz if you book! But it was exactly what I needed for a short stop over.

Pleasant little stay at a pleasant little place

This guesthouse should not be allowed to rent rooms out in the dire state they are in.  The room was dirty, smelled of smoke and was battered.  The main room door looked like it had been kicked off at some point and bodged back into place, with bits of wood.  The bathroom door was battered, no tiles or broken tiles in bathroom. Bathroom window broken. Cobwebs on ceiling, sockets hanging off wall.  The bed base was heavily stained with fag burns in the bedding.  Burns on dressing table, mirror looked as though it had never been cleaned, thick grime on tops of skirting boards.  The walls looked like they hadn’t been painted in years, there was even a dirty tide mark down the wall next to the bed 🤮.  Was yea/ coffee making facilities but didn’t dare use the kettle as it was full of bits . I am a believer of you getting what you pay for but I’ve stayed at other places in Derby for a similar price and have never known anything like it.  To top of the stay the building alarm was beeping all night and no one reset it!

Please please stay away from this place avoid at all cost it's a homeless house not a guest house was there 10 minutes and asked for a refund which I didn't get but booked into a different b and b anyway it's absolutely disgusting and filthy and in beech of so many health and safety issues 

Avoid 

Greeted with the news they didn’t have 2 rooms as booked. With limited options in the city, we were flexible and agreed a reduced rate and a bed on the floor so we at didn’t need to sleep in our cars! The room was dirty, with a lingering smell of grime and cigarettes. Whilst you do indeed pay for what you get, my biggest gripe is having our door banged at 1.30am with a demand for ‘rent’ having never asking that this was paid in all of the conversations previous whilst a reasonable time of day. The threat of having the police called on us when we had made it clear we were happy to pay in the morning was incredibly unnecessary. I’d avoid at all costs, even if you are tight on budget, the health and safety standards are questionable and I doubt the fire alarm system is adequate given guests are obviously free to smoke.

If only 0 stars was possible

Absolutely disgusting the place was filthy wallpaper piling off the walls we stayed 10 minutes while we booked somewhere else and came out itching how anyone can charge anything for staying there is beyond me.. I wouldn't let my dogs there! Booked through booking.com

Stayed 10 minutes and walked out

Avoid at all cost the place is filthy and full of drunks and drug addicts .  the front area was covered in litter / rubbish and used needles and pipes cover the drive way and the poor unfortunate neighbours drive , bathroom window had np glass just just a piece of dirty hardboard to cover the hole . This place should be closed down.

Disgusting Hovel

No need to go into too much detail nut the room was cold and damp. The bathroom was a disgrace it was a slum. The key for the main door didnt work so we had to make 3 phone calls to didderent people at 1 am in the freezing cold. This is a DSS dos house stay away. You have been warned
