I came by a couple of weeks ago - a bit worried as I had such a bad experience the last time I had been. Paid with actual money as I was worried I would be tracked! The last time I came and left a review on trip advisor the manager phoned me up and was really aggressive. Nothing has changed- unfortunately. Staff rude and entitled. So I read the reviews recently- so many saying the same things. Who owns this establishment? Such a beautiful place, so utterly appalling run. Since my last visit in 2017 I have not left one bad review at any café/restaurant- all have been lovely. Your establishment is still horrible- why?

We visited this pub on a Sunday evening (as we were staying locally) expecting it to be busy, but found it empty which is always a worrying sign.
The menu was good, the specials board had a good choice and a roast dinner was available. We then got told about all the things that weren’t available. 
I decided on a special of salmon fillet with new potatoes, vegetables and hollandaise sauce.
When the food arrived it looked awful!!! The salmon fillet was a thin, slimy salmon tail with thick yellow ‘hollandaise’ and over microwaved veg. Straight away I sent it back in disgust and had no intention of paying for rubbish. How can a decent chef be happy sending out this standard of food??? 
I understand pubs have struggled over the past 2 years but please don’t have a massive menu which you can’t achieve, a small menu which you can do well would work better. 
I don’t recommend this pub and will not be going back. 
Visit at your peril!

Avoid at all costs!

Whilst staying at a nearby holiday let we booked a table and had early tea here, all 7 adults and 7 kids. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food is all home cooked, including the chicken nuggets and fish fingers, my 4yo daughter particularly enjoyed the home made chips. The dads were happy with Estrella on tap, the pub is also dog friendly and we would definitely recommend this place for a meal. Great!

Cracking establishment 😀

We stayed in Peak Forest for three nights in late June. Having travelled a long way to reach the area we were keen to eat locally so chose the Devonshire Arms for our first evening meal. The landlady was friendly and welcoming and handed us a very varied menu and also showed us a specials board. The food was good and served on large plates which were piping hot. We were especially impressed that even though each dish was described on the menu as coming with particular vegetables and sauces, there was no problem when we requested alternatives. 
We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned and had a different selection from the menu the next night too. 
We would definitely recommend this pub. The food is unpretentious and the menu includes choices suitable for children and adults. It is freshly prepared and great quality and our cod and chips couldn't have been fresher.
The pub is smartly decorated and clean, and there is plenty of space between the tables so it is very Covid secure. 
We would recommend it.

Friendly team and good pub food

This is a pretty standard offering, a traditional English pub.
The huge point of difference is the manageress. She was delightful from the word go. Nothing was too much trouble, the food was home cooked to order, the place was very clean as civic friendly.
We would definitely return if in the area.

Road house pub

We stayed at a local air bnb property and visited the pub two evenings  running. After reading some of the reviews we were a bit apprehensive however we gave it a go and were pleasantly surprised. The staff were lovely on both nights and couldn't have been more helpful. The food was cooked well and was as described on the menu/specials board. The steak and stilton pie was delicious as were the fish and chips. The chips were different on the Saturday night and most of us preferred Friday's! The Black Sheep bitter was good and there was a decent selection of gins. We had a great time on both nights and will definitely return. Thanks to all the staff for their hard work and smiley faces!

A nice friendly place.

What a little Gem in the Peak District. Called in for a meal with friends on Saturday evening and was very happy to of found this place. The main menu is not massive however there was a specials board with many choices and a pie and burger special menu on top of that. All our meals were gorgeous (I had the chicken fillet with bacon and black pud, which I would recommend)  served within good time and the service was A++, would tell anyone I speak to give this place a go. Thanks to the staff for the wonderful evening. 

Lovely Pub, Lovely Food

At first look you might think the Devonshire Arms is a typical Derbyshire pub. It looks nice outside, the decor is nice. But please, don’t go in if you’re looking for a) food or b) drinks. This will totally confuse the very sweet staff. 

Their limited menu which includes longer list of starters and puddings than mains - which are limited to a few sandwiches takes a very long time to prepare. In fact despite being their only customers it took 30 minutes to prepare our 5 meals which all came out at varying intervals. 

If you only serve sandwiches it would be good idea to have in a supply of fresh bread, they don’t do we had stale bread on our sandwiches. However the chips were good. The drink menu is limited and the Diet Coke was flat. 

The staff are very sweet and I’m sure the B&B is lovely - but they would do better to explain to pub going punters ‘WE ARE NOT A PUB, PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE’.

Four of us had drinks and a meal after a 4 mile walk around the area.
Food was great - Sunday roasts, Steak & Stilton pie and a fish platter - couldn’t fault it.
A couple of pints of Black Sheep went down a treat.
Service with a smile just added to the great experience.

Good pub

Met a friend here and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Had the sirloin steak which was prepared quickly and was good. My wife had the chilli 🌶 halloumi but there wasn’t much chilli on it and it was a bit pale looking.
