I booked online and on arrival (and paying for the full fee) was told that I was "lucky to get a room in Safranbolu". I was then led off to another hotel with little more explanations (due to my limited Turkish skills). That other place was truly dire, I felt so unwelcomed. There was no communication, no welcome, no explanations, no wifi password, and of course not a word about breakfast (that I had paid). I ended up going to Kırımlı on one morning but of course that didn't feel right either. 

I think between this hotel and those online booking portals, there needs to be some communication. Neither of them came to 'harm' as such, but I had two quite uncomfortable nights in Safranbolu.

Booked and got bumped off

We start by saying that Safranbolu is a medium-sized town located in the first hinterland of the northwestern part of Turkey (about 55 km from the Black Sea) and that it is a characteristic city which is precisely why it has the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site. That said, I can finally tell you that it is all a mockery in the sense that almost the whole country is in ruins and that only 3 of the very large caravansers have been renovated and today host numerous luxury hotels. However, if you also want to look for a more normal hotel (which was once easily a stable) at particular prices. We have come across the very basic Kirimli, a small central hotel with a very characteristic size with a slightly rounded roof that makes it very pleasant. The real courtyard carpeting is rather odd in that it would be necessary to renovate the entire building, but if you want to get into the building, you need to get into a more stable structure.

It's not a caravan!

The rooms are clean; bathroom is ok, not luxury, but ok. The owners are really nice, they do not speak any English, but they are so nice that in the end it doesn’t matter. They received us with tea and Turkish sweets. Room was quiet and in the morning the breakfast was ok. Overhaul, it is a good hotel for one night at a good price. we went there in september 2010.
