Baan Bunyat

We don't spend a lot of time in our room when we visit new places, so if like us you are looking for a cost-effective, clean and well located guest-house, Baan Bunyat ticks all the boxes. We paid an extra $2 per person for a breakfast, and I kid you not, it was one of the nicest and tastiest breakfasts I've had in Asia. If I needed to use a single word to describe this place it is "clean". The place is small, consisting of only three separate rooms. The bedroom is spacious enough to cast all your suitcases and packs about on the floor but still have walking space. The bathroom is the most effective in terms of space I have seen, think small, very small. If you have long legs, sitting on the toilet leaves little space to the wall, but the shower, basin and toilet (all clean) was effective for getting the job done. Water wasn't what you'd call hot, but in the Northern temperatures of Thailand, warm or cold is better anyway. Centrally located half a block from the walking market (you should really go to this by the way and make sure you are there and in the bussle at 6.00 pm where it appears some weird freeze game gets played as the national anthem kicks in. Back to Baan Bunyat. The only surprise we had, and perhaps we read the site wrong, it does not have a 24 hour reception, in fact it has a physical reception space with the brocchures etc, but I have yet to see it used. Arrival consisted of an email telling us which room (we read that the next day) and a hand written note telling us which room was ours. The highlight was the breakfast, after finishing the first, I was looking forward to breakfast on the second day! The courtyard/hall/entrance thing doubled as the breakfast nook and only added to the atmosphere. Next door to Thapat Loft, the VW van-bar is worth the costly drinks for a night cap visit.
