It's a small facility where the staff responds to requests quickly and politely, Peter speaks Italian, English and various languages, George speaks English and they're always there. In the three-room room there was plenty of space, a bathroom with little space, spacious outdoor spaces for breakfast. WiFi is also available on the beach, which is very close to the other side of the road. The cook also offers local dishes besides very good fish, we ate there every night, even on the beach.

Eighth position, Eighth report Quality/Price, as at home

We stayed 5 nights at this place which looks nothing like the pictures. Its worn down, lacks a reception and the bar area at the beach looks deserted. The rooms were ok. They have mosquito nets and a fan, but it didn't seem like any fresh air entered the room during our stay. After almost four months of travelling and people doing my laundry, this place was the only place that actually managed to ruin our clothes. All our white clothes had black spots on them which does not go off. The hotel offered no compensation for the clothes, they only stood there like big question marks and said 'sorry, sorry'.
At least the food (except pasta) was incredibly delicious, they have their own private beach with sun beds and free beach towels and there are some nice restaurants and a Padi centre right next to Sipano at the beach

Just ok, nothing more...

Sipano has some very sweet, hardworking stafmembers who really want to make the most out of the place. The place has sweet rooms, cleaned every day and decorated with flowers, which are also " homegrown". There are free cooled water bottles and coffee and tea all day, besides free wifi. The beach bar looks nice, has a good atmosphere and serves some very delicious meals for lunch and diner. The best place to stay in the middle of all the larger resorts. Moreover, hardworking staff member Joseph is very welcoming, hospitable, always smiling and will try his best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We asked for a taxi, he arranged it, we ordered drinks and food, he arranged it, when we just arrived, he showed us around. All the credits go to Joseph!

Nice cute rooms and very helpful and friendly staff

This accommodation is run by Masai which is not a bad thing since they are very friendly and really helpful.  The downside can be that there a lot of locals hanging around in the communal areas. The rooms are basic but sufficient. There's no AC in the rooms but the fans are fine too. The hotel is not directly located at the beach, you'll have to go through a beach bar to get to the beach. The beach bar is also owned by the same Masai. The beaches in Kiwengwa are really nice but they are mainly used by locals and resort visitors. There are many secluded resorts in the kiwengwa area and Sipano one of the few options if you just want to pass by for a couple of days.

A good budget option on a expensive island

I stayed at Obama Beach / Sipano Bungalows for an extended period of time earlier in the year (2016).
What I loved about this place, was a few things.  The setting was simple and clean. You are family when you stay there.  Can eat together with everyone in the common area or by ones self.  Both equally awesome.  The food was always prepared with love. *This is an opportunity to experience living in the village of Kiwengwa.  For me being part of the African daily life and customs was essential.  I found that communicating with the staff when something was needed was the key staying here. Accepting and Remember that Africa experiences disruption in services (Electric, water & internet) from time to time.  Sometimes that is what is needed for everyone to reset. Also important side note* know that you will have the true and only opportunity to be part of the Masai Tribe. Every other hotel hires the Masai to come and dazzle their guests and security.  But here is the only place that is true Masai.  For those that would like to have night life as an option.  It is the only place with a Restaurant, Bar and Night Club open to the public on the beach. Everyone is welcome. Epic Ambiance.  Always select this place to go even if it is just for one night. This will always be one of my homes in Zanzibar. Kiwengwa.

Always stay here even for 1 night

September 2012 - We had dinner one evening in this facility, run by the very kind Peter Sipano, even though we had the full pension in the nearby village Bravo Club, to taste the local atmosphere a little bit. We had dinner outdoors, in the company of friends known there, sitting on wooden benches and a wooden table too. We ate a mix of fish a little bit on the grill a little bit cooked, with a contour of fries and I have to say that it was all very good and abundant, it seemed never to end in port; we drank beer in a bottle on our own will and we spent 20 euros per person. Really.

As a family

In November 2015 I booked a double for 3 nights from 31/12 to 03/1 at this hotel via the email address I found on their website. An Italian person responded to the emails who told me that he was helping the owner with the bookings (the last email received on 30/12 confirming the possibility of paying with the credit card $300 per formula B&B). When we arrived at the Bungalow they unloaded our luggage, offered a welcome cocktail and then arranged us in the room, a small and poorly furnished room with locked windows.

I'm looking for the hospital.

What to say....returning today from this wonderful holiday... I had the honor and pleasure of meeting this wonderful Masai family... Minghi... Peter and Simba... exceptional... hospitals... and with an immense heart...the beach where these wonderful bungalows are located is spectacular....white sand... very warm and very clean sea... very wide beach...

A real family.

I expected a modern, well-maintained lodge, although family run. Instead I found myself in an old inn and managed too much in a African way: it lacks the presence of a real manager who knows how to treat the welcome and create an environment at least decent. The rooms are all stuck together and it is virtually impossible to open the window to let some light enter because the window opens onto a lane with comings and goings of people. The bathroom has the bare minimum but it seems that still needs to be completed as it appears. Although there is a certain cleaning the look of the bathroom itself is run down. The "wonderful family Sipano" actually consists of a cute kid Masai who speaks very good Italian and his gentle European companion who lives with him in times when going to Zanzibar but unfortunately their presence is not noticed in the conduct of inn. The bright spot was the food: squid and seafood at a fair price. The hotel is not beachfront, you must be logged for this to Obama Beach - same style but bar and night club. Being the owner of Bungalows Sipano a Maasai of the Maasai warrior tribe, Maasai and not Maasai are a bit 'everywhere, you do not understand what to do if not to meet with elderly tourists looking for some thrills ...
Strongly not recommended, especially for $ 40 bed and breakfast.

We stayed at the hotel from 18 November 2014 to 10 December 2014.Remembering that we are in Africa, the hotel is well placed in the context, opposite the famous Obama Bar on the white beach of Kiwengwa.The quality price ratio is unique neo that not all rooms are air-conditioned but the owner assures us that soon all will be air-conditioned.During our stay we met other very nice customers organizing aperitifs on the beach and in the bungalow surrounded by music and dancing: the staff well led by Peter and Simone delighted us every day with surprises culinary well accommodated with wines and cocktails so that the days will be in a happy feast.Thanks to Peter and Bruno Ross for the reserved reception and welcome to a year to come.
