A little friendly paradise on the beach. 
I travelled with my two teenagers. Good food and fresh fruit every morning. Very nice atmosphere and staff. Music in the evenings. 

Clean rooms, mosquito nets. The staff helped me to book a driver from the ferry and boat trip (snorkelling, we saw dolphins!)

The Seles

We didn’t book a room but stopped by multiple times during our vacation to have a drink by the sea. The view and food are quite nice, but the manager is horribly rude, downright aggressive and quite irate. Every encounter with him ruined the day. Drinks and food are alright but quite expensive for what it is. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Absolutely horrible management

It is quite interesting the rates to this hotel on the platforms when actually it is a very poor one with a very bad service. We arrived at the hotel and we already knew we had been fooled. First of all, the location is very far away from any touristic attractions and on “Booking.com” it clearly says “350m from city centre”, which is a lie. The hotel is located in a local village, where local people live, so it is so unfortunate that they made a hotel in this area just to bother the locals. Still speaking about the location, the beach is not proper for swimming, considering the amount of boats right in front of the hotel. The hotel is divided by 2 facilities, being the second one a struggle to take your luggage. 

The food is so expensive and totally not worth it. Not enough options for vegetarian people and for people who enjoy a nice meal, that’s the least you expect from a 8.5 hotel rate. The “included breakfast” is another lie. By the time you reach the “breakfast”, they will give you a menu in which you will choose 1 main dish, 2 sides and 1 drink, and to be very honest, if you are a person who eats well during the morning, you will not be full. 

Cleanliness is another point. We arrived and our bed sheets had stains of something, giving it a dirty look. Behind the bed was dirty as well, as you can see in the pictures. 

The room is ok but it’s missing basic stuff for tourists, such as a mini bar, hair dryer, iron, telephone and even TRASH BIN in the toilet, what kind of place is that? And of course you can’t contact the reception straight away since there’s no telephone in the room. 

And to complete, we were in the middle of a tour and the hotel contacted us saying that we would have to leave our rooms since there was another person coming that booked the room that we were staying, so unethical considering that we also paid a huge amount of money for this very bad place. What kind of service is that? Never had such a worse experience in any other place! Disgusting. 

Do not book this hotel or this area if you’re planning to relax or enjoy your vacations, very bad service overall.

Terrible, don’t ruin your vacation by going to this place.

We enjoyed our stay in the Airbnb villa next to Seles and made it to the restaurant of our choice for most of the days. Incredibly beautiful location, delicious food, welcoming service team, strongly recommended. Best experience: fresh tuna (23 kg) as catch of the day. Awesome!!!

great place to chill. Delicious food, my favorite swimming pool under the palm trees. I visit this place again and again and I am never disappointed! the service was extremely friendly and helpful. I also took diving lessons. I recommend to everyone

Great Hill day!

If you are looking for a peaceful place, RUN AWAY!!!!!
That’s not Zanzibar, even for the food, nothing local. That’s European way of life in AFRICA. Music all day long, with high level volume and extra Bass.  
Unfortunately for me, I booked for 10 nights.
The feedbacks on booking are not real truth,  I would have done another choice.

Once and not twice

Employees are very welcoming, we haven't exchanged with the boss at all. The common space of the main site is great, and a different animation in the evenings makes the place quite attractive. However, what was supposed to be a small intimate hotel (that's what we saw on the lonely) seems to have been a victim of its success. A villa a few steps away which offers other rooms does not match at all what they were expecting. An almost blind room outside, very dark, very cold which does not give any craving for any time. The building is under construction, it is not very welcoming. The room was in fact very expensive for what it was.

Choosing Your Room Properly

Very well located with direct views of the beautiful beach. The place is successful and not a few people come to enjoy the sea view terrace which is a very big plus for this hotel. Nice restaurant, fish bbq is delicious. The cocktails are also very good. Latifa and the whole staff are super lovely. The establishment has another annex 50 meters away where you can enjoy a second more quiet swimming pool. Bemol on the price of the classic double room which is very, too expensive compared to the services we had in our other hotels of stay (room very dark, does not give any desire to sit in it). Everything is too clean but the room is really in the dark.

It's a nice place, but it's nice to have a room.

Perfect location right on the beach and with the pool just behind the beach too! Absolute paradise the photos don’t even do it justice! The beach is quiet which is perfect for paradise photos and not too much hassle from beach sellers but Seles has enough vibe and entertainment to keep you feeling the buzz. We loved the bonfire night and the karaoke night and even went out to the nearby (shirt taxi ride) Shambaland club one night so it’s good to know you can party if you want or have a quiet night in if you want! We saw other people from other hotels choosing to eat and drink in The Seles so we were pleased to be already staying there. The hotel staff and owners were amazingly friendly and very accommodating, and always on hand for anything you might want. Also a great location for doing a snorkelling trip to Mnemba Island where we saw lots of fish, corals and dolphins! We would 100% come back to stay at The Seles if we came to Matemwe again and would recommend for everyone!

Best beach location with a buzzing vibe!

We loved our stay at the Seles, the perfect place to relax, enjoy a beautiful beach or swimming pool under the coconut trees with great music and amazing food. The staff was very kind and accommodating, made us feel right at home. 

Our room was spotless with the comfiest bed and pillows. 

We will definitely come back!
