Our driver led us to this small, ornate hotel. The rooms are very spacious and very clean. The air conditioning system worked perfectly (for those who needed it). We brought fresh fish from the market and the chef prepared it really well for us. Very quiet, the beach was clean!

Good view close to the beach

To be kind, the hotel appears to be in a refurbishment phase but at present the rooms we saw are not fit for use. The first room was so poor we asked to change.   The second room was superficially better but still dirty. The bed had no undersheet so you stuck to the mattress.  The chairs and clothes dryer outside were covered in bird mess.  The sink had no plug, the tap was almost falling off.  Shower controls were broken.  Shower still had sand from the previous occupants. Breakfast was sparse, with no fruit, juice tasting of onions. Wi-Fi only works in reception if you stand next to the router.  We had booked for 3 nights and left after one.  Photo is of rubbish left on the cupboard (Which only had one grubby hanger).  Avoid

Not ready for habitation 

I write this review to recommand the restaurant. We have had a couple of bad experiences in Uppaveli before we found thist wonderful place to have our food with great view and ocean sound. The service was excellent, the food delicious (we had tuna and grilled vegetables) and nicely decorated. And the prices are unbelievable for meal at the beach. I can highly recommand this restaurant.

We stayed in this place for 5 days. We had a great time. The staff is very nice. They are very careful to make the customer feel good.

Christmas holidays

This hotel has long since left behind its best days. Our room was dark, wet, dirty and totally drenched. The bathroom is not recommended to enter without shoes and the shower is the purest horror. Unfortunately, the disorder outside and the dark rooms cannot be portrayed well. The mosquito net is laughed at and too small to cover the bed. The location right by the sea is the only good thing about this hotel.

Dirty and completely down

Firstly - this is a simple hotel with all that term implies. We had a two-bedded room on the first floor with mosquito nets (not something you get in all hotels this standard!) and air conditioning. The shower worked and the bathroom, though old, was clean, so were the beds. You can vaguely hear music from a bar further down the beach, but earplugs solve that problem. Breakfast (nothing special, but perfectly OK) is served in the garden. In the evening you can eat at tables on the beach. Service is friendly but slow. Bianca on reception was very helpful. Main assets: it's right on a glorious beach and backs onto Alles Garden which is full of good, reasonably-priced restaurants. Main problems: At the moment it's in rather a state of flux because, as we understood it, it has just passed into new ownership, and it looks as if they're preparing to give it the TLC which is really all it needs. I have to say beware the credit card machine - we were told cash only because it (allegedly) wasn't working, but after two days of a firm but friendly 'well you'd better repair it before we leave because we aren't carrying that much cash', it apparently recovered. In a nutshell, the Silver Beach is a good place to stay if you're prepared to be patient and make allowances. If you can't, I'd try elsewhere.

Could have been better

The hotel is ideally located, Priyanka the receptionist is incredibly professional, but apart from that, it's really poor. I took a room  budget , which cost me  44 euros per night which is really too expensive compared to the other budget rooms I could do in Sri Lanka. And attention they charge 10 percent of the price. The key was stuck in the lock, there was no light in the bathroom, and when you want to talk to the manager he's always absent and doesn't take care of his hotel, he didn't do any business.

Too expensive, poor management, poor training

I spent two days in the shit! The staff is too young...none of them speak English! Breakfast is prepared with my feet. Coffee is not coffee..but dirty water... the room where I stayed is a cell! dirty, sand everywhere, the first night I got locked in the door...after 30 minutes we changed room (another cell) the next day I requested another room...pick up again...all at 44€ per night...it was better if I slept on the beach...if it wasn't for the beach the sea and some San Francisco restaurants....I would have returned after the first hour of overnight...in a few words...I saw the advice!
