Lovely rooms and a giant-sized pool, right on the beach. But best of all is the top notch staff, particularly, Pragash, Juliet and Luckshana. Second best of all is the great Sri Lankan meals. The curries are out of this world, as is the Devilled meals and the kotu roti. A tip to remember: go for the Sri Lankan breakfasts; they’re a step above.

Paradise at High Park

Photos shown in booking.com and other platforms are not true representation of what we found. We booked the deluxe chalet, but the room was not cleaned properly, we found two cockroaches and more just when we walked in (we know the hotel is in a natural environment, but certain things can be managed a bit better), the bathroom and appliances very worn out, very limited water flow in the shower, very dirty swimming pool (especially that, you could not see through that water at all), and quite limited breakfast in terms of amount and options in comparison to all other hotels we experienced in Sri Lanka.

Disappointing.

Before the trip, I had read the reviews of the hotel (including the negative ones) and I didn't believe it, because I thought people were writing about the staff and the unique dog Rex instead of the hotel itself. When I was at the hotel, I realized that I would have to write about the same thing. So, everything that's written before me is true.

The coast of the ocean

Do not go. Nice looking place, horrible management. People not friendly. No wifi. 

We wanted to stay 3 nights. They told us a price, after few hours the owner changed the price… Later on, he said it was his mistake and it’s ok. Next morning is again the staff asking us when we do check out, and saying they don’t have a room for us… Finally we needed to leave, do not recommend. It is sad, because it could be a good spot. Many better hotels around! 

Horrible management, no wifi 

Hotel on the beach, immersed in a tropical garden that shares with the diving center (very valid). I slept in a large, clean room, with air conditioning. The very large bathroom is equipped with mosquito nets. The wooden restaurant/bar is directly on the sand. Breakfast is good. The restaurant has a varied menu. The staff is very kind and available to meet any request. We have through the hotel rented a motorbike for several days and also got in touch with an Ayurvedic massage therapist who in the afternoon came to the hotel to perform therapeutic massages and relaxers. The owner is a very courteous person. During my trip to Sri Lanka this is one of my favorite hotels.

Ideal for relaxation

By booking on site, we got a very fair price for the well-maintained wooden cottage on the beach. The houses are simple, modern and very clean. The mosquito net was healthy and had a rectangular shape that matched the bed, so it didn't shrink the bed area. There were no insects. The facility is very nicely designed with many plants, butterflies accompanied us on almost every step. From our bungalow to the adjacent beach it was no more than 300 meters. The facility offers a few beds as well as sunbeds made of wood and palm leaves, which fit the overall picture significantly better than the standard plastic furniture... Moreover, it is quiet here, there is no rest, animation and no loud music. From the hotel to the adjacent beach, the team was very helpful and the kitchen was super-restricted, and the hotel was very spacious.

Everything is wonderful

We only stayed for half a night, because we discouverd bed bugs and had to change the Hotel. They reacted rather unfriendly and did't take our problem seriously. We could cancle our booking free of charge, but I would't recommend going if you don't want bugs around.

-This place only costed us 600 Sri for the Tuk Tuk from Tricomale bus stand
-beach out front with umbrella and beach chairs 
-next door to the PADI dive center
-outdoor restaurant 
-farm like environment with cute dogs and right on the beach
-only 2 km beach walk to That’s Why restaurant . Only 200 LKR early night or 300 LLR at night from the hotel in Tuk Tuk 
-they have a decent restaurant on site too

Service best
-they let us check in after we got settled in room
-when power went out, they brought us candles and match sticks
-they kept our liquids that we purchased in town in their fridge to keep cool
-they let us fill our water bottles 
-Hari and Dilip were the BEST employees
-Juliet in the kitchen was really nice
-they brought us an extra bed sheet to accommodate us each having a sheet
-they even separated our bill so we could each pay and they let us pay at check out 
-they answered all our questions 



Best location and service

A nice hotel with spacious & clean rooms at a fantastic location at the very quiet Nilaveli beach,
The superfriendly owner and staff are making every effort for a great stay. The restaurant is serving delicious food. The rice & curry is one of the best ones we had in Sri Lanka! At night the tables are being placed at the beachfront for a wonderful cadlelight dinners. Great ayurvedic massages are offered as well.
Definitely a place we'd reccomend!

Wonderful place on the quiet Nilaveli beach!

I had expected a little more from this hotel, which is quite expensive for Sri Lanka. The staff were very friendly, but mostly overwhelmed, especially when ordering food. Communication/information was therefore difficult. So you weren't told in advance that you have to hand over the key if you want to get your room cleaned or that you have to sign up the night before if you want a country-style breakfast in the laundry. The food is not necessarily recommended because there are better alternatives in the area.
