The owner is very nice and funny, always smiling and laughing. 
Place is located in the touristic area, just next to the beach in a quiet street. 
Reasonable prices and clean place. 
No safe and only few plugs in the dorm.

Great mix between guest house and hostel.

My partner and I stayed here for nights after flying into the airport. It's less than 20 minutes away, which was perfect as the check-in is 24 hours. The location of Aurora really is great, it's unassuming, down a little alleyway, but you can walk to the beautiful Negombo beaches in about 3 or 4 minutes (depending on your pace!). The breakfast was fantastic, as well - by far the cheapest in the nearby area. The lady who owned the hostel absolutely made the stay here, she was attentive and made sure we were happy at all times. On the evening of the second night of our stay here she even brought us some homemade Sri Lankan curry, as she wanted us to try the spices - it was delicious! I'd recommend this place for anyone, especially budget travellers.

Delightful owner, perfect location, lovely breakfast.

It says that the room has AC. But if you arrive and there are less than 4 people in the room, you have to pay 750KR! If you stay longer than 5pm, you have to pay 100KR per hour that you're hooked up, which I find very uncomfortable at an airport hostel! The W-lane will be off from 10pm, otherwise you'll have to - as always - pay up. So the hostel is very nice and good at the price, but still the owner has been very unfriendly when I asked if they can hook up 2 people at 33 degrees in the room for at least an hour if I can book a room with air conditioning. But unfortunately that was with the phrase hook me up now or hook me up now with the hostel. Unfortunately, I've been very uncomfortable with the AC.

This hostel is located in a quiet street away from the noisy main street. The rooms are clean. I am a backpacker and don't ask for much. What I really liked, was the lovely nature of the lady who ran this place. She doesn't speak much English. And why should she :-) People visit Sri Lanka (and not England). She will go out of her way to accommodate  you! Best place to stay, no doubt about that!

Great Hostel with a lovely and genuine owner

Aurora hotel is a great value option for travellers on a budget. 

Conveniently located one road back from the beach, cafes, restaurants and tour operators, Aurora is a good place to stay for 1-2 nights while you plan your trip and size up Sri Lanka. 

Owner is very friendly and accommodating - kindly provided free drinks and towels for my parents to refresh themselves when they swing by after an international flight to pick us up and start our trip - a local businesswoman who thoroughly deserves to be supported.

The most wonderful and smiling hostmum! Relaxed place very close to the main street with a lot of restaurants and the beach. She offers a and big and great breakfast.
Nice place to stay as your first day in Sri Lanka.

Great place

After prolific reviews, we booked in hesitation... but we were a little disappointed. It was noted repeatedly on different sites that it was possible to eat and have breakfast: none of the two for us, after 24 hours of travel it is a bit annoying... Especially since we planned a big day the next day too... Maybe it's because we are in September? Besides, the reception is very good, the clean rooms (your little extra bathroom would not be luxury), good advice about the surroundings, bcp kindness.
