Nicely located to Kandy city, and very easy to get around. Stayed for few days and rooms are very good plus they have free WiFi etc. Staffs and manager are very helpful. Easy walk towards kandy lakes. Rooms are very reasonably priced.

Value for money budget Hotel

Most staff friendly and helpful

 The hotel should have closed to do the renovation. It was dirty, dusty, and walls in rooms mouldy. The bathroom smelt of sewage. Claimed they didn’t charge us for meals but breakfast was supposed to be included in the price. Tried to give the driver a store room to sleep.

Tour of Sri Lanka

Was visiting Kandy with a foreign friend. Needed a place to stay close to Kandy City. Access ok tuk tuk driver lives across the hotel or in the hotel. Breakfast was good and lady at the kitchen was extremely hard working to please the guests. Making tea and food. We ordered vegetarian but she had prepared chicken for us. Promptly made vege dishes for us. Parking is available – can be rare at the location. Can take tuk tuk or walk to near by recruitments. Good Wifi. Good value for money. Mostly helpful staff.

Staff wanted us to checkout early in the morning saying they have guests. Afte saying we need to come back and have a bath (after visiting Temple and Kandy city) the staff member stopped trying to check us out (he wanted to get all the bags in to a room and get the keys so new guests can use our rooms). But after saying no - he gave up and was nice to us after. The view is not good - but was not expecting the view to be good anyway. Pictures can be misleading - cannot see the lake from here.

Good value for money and did the job for short stay

Just an average place to stay also cheaper place and what u get is what you are paying for.

Nothing great like some of the reviews have stated. I’m surprised by other reviews. 

The room was having fungal patch everywhere though the toilet was clean and u get hot water continuously 

There was no blanket (when I asked for it they gave me a bedsheet) and Air condition wasn’t working my room though for the amount I paid that was ok coz it was anyway too cold in kandy during Nov due to rainy season so A/C wasn’t required anyway there was fan which was working 

TV also worked though u have to struggle to on it

I booked coz it was near to my work place and I just needed a place to sleep so I booked it and the purpose is served but I’m  sure u can better place for the same price at kandy 

The breakfast was simple but quite good I generally like bread, coconut sambol and dhal curry an typical Sri Lankan food 

Average and cheaper place nothing great to talk about 

Yes it is not an expensive place yet it could be much better... We had a basic room with a window to a wall... no view (maybe there are better rooms at that place). Breakfast was very basic. The location is Ok if you want and can going down hill to the lake is nice (about 10-15 minutes on the road. The owner is very friendly.
Bottom line we got what we paid for not more.

Could be better for a budget hotel

We had a great time at the FoRest Villa. The rooms are very cozy, you get tea and coffee served all day long and help with everything. Whether it's organizing the train ticket for the trip or a day trip, they organize whatever they can. Which makes everything perfect; the rice & curry from Shiva which he made on request within an hour was heavenly! The best we ate in a month in Sri Lanka! We're back guaranteed! Thank you very much for everything.

That's perfect.

This Villa has nice clean rooms, very friendly staff, free coffee or tea anytime and breakfast is included in the price. So far best value for money in Sri Lanka. For breakfast they served eggs, sausages, bread, butter, jam accompanied by some fruit and tea or coffee. You get what you pay for. Don't go to this hotel if you expect a 5 star experience. But if you are someone who need a nice clean room to stay while you are travelling and has a budget to stick to, I would recommend this hotel. They also have a roof top where you can have coffee at night looking at the city.

Great place for travellers with a budget!

I'm surprised by some of the glowing reviews I see for FoRest Villa. It's a newish hotel, and the manager and staff mean well, but they are not (in my experience) very competent, which is reflected in very hit-and-miss, slightly in your face and often pretty poor service. Quite possibly everything the positive reviewers say is true for them, but....no hot water for three mornings' running, having to ask for towels and toilet rolls, poor breakfast accompanied by ants (one of which I inadvertently ate), banging hot water pipes at night (they did fix them), dirty windows, being unable to lock the outside room door and being woken at 7am by extremely loud banging from downstairs as they tried to wrench open an empty bathroom that had mysteriously locked itself from the inside....none of these are things I would expect to experience in a well run hotel, even at budget prices. All that said, the rooms are spacious, the bed was reasonably comfortable and the shower room had been nicely re-done (even if there was no hot water!). For me, it's a step up from a hostel (although many hostels are better run than this of course!). A bit less emphasis on selling extras is required, and a bit more on the guest's experience of staying in the hotel. location is decent, 100 metres from Helga's Folly and a ten minute downhill walk to the lake.

Cheap, but you might pay for it.

What's positive: cleanliness, littering, comfort of the bedroom and bathroom. Typical or customized food according to your wishes. Taxi service, laundry,... Located a little far away and high up from the centre of Kandy: ideal for being calm. Careful staff. Good quality/price ratio. We feel comfortable there, I stayed there one more night.
