I'm so glad that i found this lovely homestay in Kandy. The reviews sounded good and they were accurate. My hosts were so helpful. I had two nights with them but only one full day in Kandy and they helped me make the most of this time with a great driver recommendation and lots of helpful tips. 
Meals were served on the lovely balcony with fabulous views over the city and the mountains - breakfast was great and i was lucky enough to enjoy a truly delicious dinner there too. 
The homestay is a little way out of the city but the trip up the mountain and the view make it well worthwhile!!! It is really only a short tuk tuk ride into town and it's a fun part of the experience.
I recommend staying here : )

Fabulous view and so friendly!

Our stay was perfect! The kindness of our guests made us feel at home! The room was very nicely decorated and much larger than expected, with a large SDB as well as access to the common terrace, where the view of Kandy is breathtaking! We spent our finest evening there!!

That's great!

As I have always maintained, I dig the "Home Environment" over those plastic hotel atmospheres. They make me unnerved and a wee-bit uncomfortable. My consensus of linking this place also came through Mark. He was exhilarated and enjoyed every bit of this homestay. This lady who (w/her family) manages the house, talks a lot and is also extremely kind. The rooms are nice, the food (homemade) is lavish and they go extra miles to prepare new savory stuff for you. That said, let me come back to the balcony - it is so beautiful I have less words for it. On cloudy days its somber and grey, on sunny days you can make shapes out of white fluffy clouds. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Greatly recommended for couples. As I sit in India, writing about it, I am having fond memories of the Balcony!

Paradise in a Balcony

This was the first place me and my fiance stayed in Kandy. From our room the view was fabulous and we really loved it. The lady who was in the house was talkative and also very kind. We had enough privacy and she prepared food for us as well . This is recommended for couples who are travelling to Kandy for home stay. Thank you Arooha tourism for recommending this place for us it really worked for us

Nice home stay

The USP of this place is the great view from the balcony plus the friendly and helpful family! Unfortunately we could only stay for a day but had a great time and the hosts were veryy friendly and accomodating. The only hurdle is that it's a bit far from the main town however we were easily able to get transport via the PickMe app to and fro. I also loved getting in some reading done and soaking in the sunset on the balcony (had it to myself) while the baby and husband slept-a very cathartic experience! Breakfast the next day was a lavish homecooked spread!

Great homestay!

The room had a lovely bed and a sofa, the bathroom was clean and the view from both our room and the outside area were stunning. Unlike most of Sri Lanka there wasn't a mosquito in sight and it's located far enough from Kandy centre to not hear the traffic. But the best part of this homestay is the lovely family that runs it. The owners were very friendly and helpful in giving advice on how to reach our next destination, organising friendly (and cheap) tuktuk drivers for us and making sure we felt welcome. The breakfast our hostess provided was delicious and even included home made chocolate cake.
The only minor downsides to this homestay were that some drivers didn't know it (easily remedied using Google maps or by naming the 'theva' hotel, 650m from Haven upon Hills), and that the WiFi was sometimes slow (but who needs WiFi with a view like that?!).
We were very happy we chose to stay here, and will definitely be coming back.

Delightful

We booked a room at Haven Upon Hills in Kandy Sri Lanka for three nights Dec.29-31, 2017.

The room we got was different from the photos we were shown on the website. We booked and paid for a US$43 room/night (the more expensive room) but we were put in the cheaper US$38 room. The owner made a double booking and refused to solve the problem or apologize.

If you book here, you are not guarnteed to get the room you think you are booking, even if you are paying more for it.

Disappointed in their booking process

I can 't say what I liked best: the kindness of Kethakie and her husband (not to mention their charming daughter) the beautiful view of the terrace and my bed! the Kethakie cuisine that made me taste different Sri Lankan specialties at every meal.

The Paradise

Very beautiful Sri Lankan house, clean and tastefully decorated. The rooms are spacious and have a sublime panorama of the city of Kandy. However, we didn't have water for the two nights we spent downstairs, nor even dinner, the owner only offering us to order pizzas.

If you want to sleep in the most beautiful place in Kandy, come and sleep at the Haven Upon Hills Homestay. The house is located on the Kandy Heights with a magical view of the city. The rooms overlook the view directly through large windows. The house is luxurious and offers all the comforts of very good hotels. The food is plentiful and succulent! I even had the right to a cooking class to learn a recipe. Go with your eyes closed, this family is exceptionally kind and will do everything to make your stay the best.
