This is a lovely hotel, nice room, lots of choice with the food. However, this hotel caters 98% for German.
That isn’t a problem but it was difficult to follow what the animation team are saying.
We were unable to join in with the activities in the evening, this kind of made us feel alienated.

Lovely hotel, clean and well maintained. Food is plentifully with lots of choices.

As entered the hotel we greeted by a receptionist talking German I had to tell her I only speak British so that should of rung alam bells ,food was lovely ,rooms lovely and clean ,then it came to the animation team couldn't join in because they just spoke German, I haven't anything about German people lovely people but we found it difficult to have any conversation with anyone so felt very excluded in anything going on in the hotel so I wouldn't recommend this hotel if u can't speak German 

If British dont go

I've actually stayed here twice. Once in the early 80s and his past Xmas to New Years and hardy anythings changed. Theres still many Germans putting thgeir towels on pool chairs the night B4 with them of the mind they own that chair. The pool bar/breakfast bar is basic. as is the dinner menu. The atmosphere all depends on the holiday makers and how much we drank.
But situated handy for both Las Palmas and south of the island as well as a few good bars just down the road.

Very Basic

My husband and I are British, but live in Germany and booked a week in the Hotel Lucana, to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We had a great time. Anabel and Maria from reception were THE BEST … thank you for making our stay so good xx The hotel was always clean, the food was good (one of our better ‘all inclusive’ cuisines,) and the staff in general were very polite We spoke English as it our native language (and our Deutsch ist nicht so gut!) The staff got used to us and replied in English. We liked that there were two, very different, pools to laze around, and that the beach was so very close. Sun beds were easily available at the hotel and the lifeguard was very helpful. Alas we found the Alltours hotel rep to be rather abrupt and unhelpful. I spoke English to her twice (needing advice) and both times she replied, “I only speak German or English!” I was born and raised on British soil, it’s my ‘mother tongue!’ Well done Hotel Lucana and thank you xx

Brits in Germany :-)

This hotel was more than we expected in all aspects. The buffet is very good and has lots to offer (for vegetarians also) and the waiters are nice, funny and fast with removing plates. The rooms have a balcony and partial sea view...the only thing is that the air conditioning wasn’t very strong but it was cool enough to open the balcony door at night.The spa, fitness room and sauna area were clean, tasteful and relaxing. There’s a side entrance that goes direct to the beach which makes access easy. The pool and pool bar are great and there was always an open chair or sunbed if you wanted. The wine wasn’t great, but that’s kind of expected in an all inclusive place I guess. Overall a fantastic place to rejuvenate! 

Great getaway

This was my first holiday to Gran Can 2012 (been back twice since) a lovely relaxing hotel for me and family -4 adults. Staff were lovely, always clean and tidy with a large range of food at the buffet.. only possible draw back was the location to the night life. But was a lovely stroll and at only a few euros the taxi back from Yumbo or centrum wasn't much for the four of us...

Stayed here back in March 2011, enjoyed this hotel food was fantastic the rooms were clean, yes they are a lot of older Germans but really we just ignored them and yes they can be rude! Pushing in the que. But if you are not concerned about them it's fine! I would definitely return for a stay here

Lucana hotel review

Ok first and foremost this is a German hotel we found 3 other Brits here during our stay, most of the Germans are middle aged to retired and speak less English then I do German so about 3 words. The two girls on the activity team speak good English but make no effort with the Brits. 

Hotel it self 
Pros
Very clean, maids do a brilliant job of cleaning the rooms, adequately furnished, air con. very good shower always hot water, food is a good standard, drinks served in normal glasses, 5 minutes to really good beaches, two pools which are clean, as many sun beds as space allows all newish and with padded mats. Beer and cocktails are good. Most of the staff are friendly ish  and know a few words of English at least. 

Cons
No information about the hotel given on arrival, except restaurant opening times. On our last day we found a couple of jacuzzis and an outside gym at the very back of the hotel. Very disappointed about this. Entertainment is very poor ie a German quiz, bingo and music from a laptop, a German pub singer and a film in German.  Restaurant service is dire, tables not cleared having to get own cutlery, food is good but a limited choice more staff need to be hired or the existing ones fired. Drinks first time in any Spanish hotel where you can't get a baileys, ammereto Malibu substitute on the all inclusive. The sun is blocked 80% of the time by the hotel in front of the lucana. Wifi is available 24€ a week. On checking out the receptionist just grunted ok no did you have a nice stay. 

Overall hotel is ok. Not the hotels fault that it is 99% Germans staying here.  Would we come back ? Afraid not
