I would say perfect location near everything, walking to every attraction saves time, very comfortable area even for bars and restaurants within walking distance, very lively at night but super quiet at night, very friendly staff.

Top position

Very basic and definitely no frills. I did not know this was a hostel until I arrived, I assumed it was just a small/local hotel. The room was very small, I mean small..again, it could be normal for a hostel, I don’t know. The bed was comfortable the bathroom was tiny but the room itself served my basic needs. No, breakfast or food available, but there is a coffee machine at the front desk. The WiFi is free, but it was really slow and went in and out.

The location is amazing and I think that is the selling point. You’re a few blocks from Puerto del Sol where there is always action. Across the street is Maestro Churrero where you can get churros and chocolate 24 hrs. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the area and close to most museums. Note: For those that are not Spanish speaking, some basic Spanish may be helpful as no one at the front desk speaks English. None the less, they were so kind and helpful. I lost my plug/adaptor and the woman at the front desk found one for me to borrow during my entire stay. Also, there is no 24 hour front desk, the hours are limited so if you have any needs after hours you need to call the number on the door. If you are all about location and just need a place to sleep while I’m Centro Madrid, this is the place.

Very basic but GREAT location

The staff's treatment along with the location I think is the best we can get, the receptionist is a very attentive person and willing to help us. One of the main complaints in our room was the lack of plugs. Having to disconnect the TV so that we can charge our mobile phones as well as staying in the other part of the room without having a single plug near the bed. The rest, air conditioned, we learned upon arrival at the hostel, thanks to the receptionist who offered us a fan afterwards. It doesn't matter because the air is tight, but the owner should look for alternatives that I can offer to the client. Regarding the room, located for a yard and quite small, no electricity. We'd like to go to a little room without a single plug near the bed.

The receptionist did not have a cordial relationship with me and was not directed to me in the right way, speaking to me in a rude and presumptuous way and passing the problem to the booking and running out of the bag, it was disappointing. besides, she lied by saying that she had contacted me and only called me once and gave me no time to answer because I was driving, when she called her had cancelled the reservation and sold my room to other people. I am proud of NOT giving my money, especially with the ill-treatment given by the receptionist cordially.

Negative treatment of the personnel.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of January. This place is all about location. A 5 minute walk from Sol and the many bars and restaurants in the surrounding area. We found it easily enough but we have stayed nearby before so are familiar with the area. The lady who greeted only had limited English but combined with my even more basic Spanish we still managed to communicate ok! 

You have to remember that it’s a basic 2 star pension at a decent price when reviewing it. It’s no frills but clean and a perfectly adequate base while visiting the city. Given it’s position on a busy road noise wasn’t an issue in the room and we never heard any of the other guests despite it being full during our stay.

I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Madrid.

Basic but perfectly adequate

For a weekend trip to Madrid, we chose this boarding house. The Carrera is very central and many places are easily accessible on foot. The rooms are well furnished and have everything you need for a short visit.

When I got up to the third floor in an old elevator, the reception lady kindly greeted me, lent me the clothing board and even a European adapter so I could charge my cell phone, good attention. If you arrive late- you should call the hostel directly and notify, because the receptionist comes alone to greet you, she is not there all the time. 1 night of accommodation in September cost me 50 euros. I traveled alone and needed a room in an excellent location only to sleep and shower. I got a very small room that could only fit 2 meters of my suitcase, only a single bed and a narrow space to enter the bathroom; in fact, photos of my room did not coincide with those posted on the net, the room did not have a window, but it was clean. Air conditioning was available. I recommend that beds only sleep in a very good location and no requirements.

Excellent location, very simple hostel, good treatment.

We stayed 3 days in the boarding house and looked beautiful and very well located a few steps from the center. but the receptionist's attention was PEACE. PEACE was treated badly and treated badly in very poorly educated ways. to wake up the next day we had to knock on the door to which we had responded.

The worst deal ever.

The hotel is very nice, the location is excellent, in the center of Madrid, the double room is like a shoe box, you can't even leave the suitcase, the toilet can't even sit in the toilet, the best rooms are only on the web, I wouldn't recommend anyone.

Hostel tourism.

A few minutes walk from the central square, everything is clean, neat, cleaning, replacing the towels daily. On request, they provide a shed, there is a safe for storing valuables. There is noise in the morning, you hear what is said in the corridor. Also, due to the temperature of the air (26-27 at night) or the not ventilated inner courtyard, sleeping is difficult. Corridors are sprayed with too many lighters.
