Very nice and clean place, small rooms but with everything to stay (there is also the boiler and, in the hallway, the and teas with cream and sugar to choose from).

Essential

Had one night in Madrid, and it was my very first time in the city, so was unsure where to stay.

Looking around online trying to find a hotel in a city I had never been before proved hard, as most the hotels seems dotted in a area well outside what I presumed to be the city centre, and I was looking for something I thought would be half way between the train station and the city centre.

I decided upon Hostal Dulcinea, as it looked to be in a spot that suited me.

Had I know the lay out of Madrid better, I would come to relise that I was in the perfect spot, and was right in the heart of the city, as I was well within walking distance of all the main attractions, and only used Bolt/Metro once my whole time in the city.

Madrid is a city made for walking and you will have the perfect base in this hotel.

Maybe a little hard to find, and while I would not say its a Hostal, its a low key hotel with a very home-ly vibe to it.

Staff are really friendly, and you are sure of a friendly welcome.

I only had one night in the city, but this hotel ticket all the right boxes.

Would have no problem staying here again when back in the city.

Excellent hotel to base yourself for seeing the city.

The hotel is very well located and there's a lot to do on foot. It has some markets around and a metro station about 10 minutes' walk away. The hostess is very friendly and attentive. I was able to leave my suitcase at the reception after checkout. There's coffee and tea available in the front room. The room is quiet, the pillow is very tasty and the shower is very warm. The cleaning was daily.

I 'd recommend it.

It's a nice central location, very close to the Night Fountain. The building is dated as well as the apartment that houses oil rooms but it's very clean and quiet. The room is small but for 3 days in Madrid it's more than satisfying.

The Essential

The air conditioning is archaic and it doesn't work. It turns to the cold in the middle of the night without any change in the order. Very bad staff and he tries to cheat the customers. When we claimed the bad air conditioning he tried to accuse us of smoking in the room to make us pay a hundredth more. I don't recommend it at all. Madrid is a very cold city where good air conditioning is essential.

Air conditioning and unpleasant staff

Very well situated, next to the Neptune fountain, about 50 meters from the Congress of Deputies and very close to the Plaza Mayor. It is a very old building, in fact as soon as you see the elevator you know it is very old. The hostel is on the second floor. The bedroom with wedding bed and bathroom with bathroom and toiletries and hair dryer. It also has a closet and a table with two chairs. In addition it has heating, a television with flat screen, wifi, and a neverita. It has a balcony facing Cervantes Street. The room has no curtains, no persianas; but it has a black metal door that closes so that the light does not fall. The bed is comfortable and seats well. The wedding bed that carries the elmo.

Very good hostel.

Hostel totally familiar and traditional. Well situated to move around on foot, although the subway is not so close. No noise from the outside, sometimes other rooms. Personal friendly. Small room and a baby shower. Ducha is small and not comfortable, without monomando, but it sells plenty of water and warm. Clean and towels and bedding in good condition. They change daily. Bed is long and a little short but comfortable. For the price it has is a good place.

Hostel familiar

simple, straight forward (though the instructions for finding the door on the 2nd floor could be better), clean, helpful, friendly. The room was small but perectly adequate.  the main point is that it is so close to the Prado and other museums and in the heart of an area with excellent restaurants and bars.

Hostal Dulcinea is located in a quiet street, 5 minutes walking from the main museums and nice areas like the Plaza Santa Ana. We went up with a charming small elevator and were cordially wlcomed by the manager. The room we had was basic and spotlessly clean. The bed was however a bit small for a Northern European like me. And alas: one point off for the cold shower in the morning. If the hotel would invest a bit in the amenities it would become really excellent.

Great location, better amenities expected

 Excellent location. Family run hostal by very nice folks. Very clean, comfortable. Excellent value. I booked several higher cost hotels in this area in the past but will return to this hostel on my next Madrid trip.
