Mopane Bush Lodge was amazing! Their hospitality and service was top notch, the staff were all helpful and made our stay very comfortable. 
The food was great and absolutely filling! The luxurious tent is breathtaking. Though it rained and got cold, the trip was still worth while!

Mopane Bush Lodge experience

My family and I had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend at Mopane Bush Lodge. It was just too short. The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive to our needs. 
The rooms were well-appointed, clean, comfortable and well-maintained. One small gripe - the aircon in our unit made an annoying buzzing sound, fortunately the weather was cool so we didn't need this.
The food was of a good quality and enjoyed by all. The wine stock didn't quite match the wine menu, and we were able to find wine that matched our budget and taste. But the wine wasn't in a cooler. And why there wasn't a wine bottle opener at the bar is a mystery.
The service was good, perhaps a little understaffed, but they were courteous and attentive so we never had to wait too long.

Wonderful memories at Mopane Bush Lodge

Really had a lekker stay at Mopane Bush Lodge. We stayed in the Tented Camp unit 8 and it was sterling. The host was extremely accommodating allowing us to braai at this location. Beautifully appointed tents, spacious with a small little seating area both inside and outside the tent. Vast views over the stunning landscape. outdoor shower. The toilet pan though was unusually low. Tents were lit, lighting too along pathways. coffee, tea and milk. baddabing.  

Lekker stay in the Tented Camp

A surprisingly nice lodge, esp for the price. Rooms are spacious and are being upgraded as we speak. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Very peaceful bush location. The staff are obliging and try hard to please. Wifi throughout lodge.

I suggest a 2 night stay. 15 minutes drive from Mapungubwe National Park gate, where tours commence from. Go for the 7am tour, the temperatures rise fast here. The Sanparks tour is well guided. The climb to the summit is essential to understand how things worked here. The small but modern museum is worth 20 minutes. In the pm take a game drive in the National Park (the Limpopo River viewing boardwalk is being rebuilt currently) or take a San rock art tour,  exclusive to the lodge.

The perfect place to stay for a visit to Mapungubwe Ruins

The friendly staff did their upmost to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Seemed like forever getting to the lodge  from the main gate, really remote. Our ranger was extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and the environment. Highlights were a walking safari where we found ourselves amidst 4 giraffes; a cheetah tracking experience and trips to the wonderful Mapungubwe national park. In all it made our 40th wedding anniversary very special and we both want to go back. Highly recommended, and definitely something we won’t forget. The accomodation was very comfy and had a hut all to ourselves with a huge bed. Our only issue was that all drinks had to be paid for, but not expensive

Nothing like their website at all. A very neglected property, understaffed, shabby, dirty, the list goes on very sadly.  I felt sorry for the team especially the 2 great guys who were run off their feet in the restaurant and bar, Lani and Josh ( they were great ). This place has the potential to be great and with some things done quickly could be on the right track, but judging by what I saw, no one really cares about the place so am pretty certain that things wont be quick to improve. Its definitely not luxury or luxurious, as stated on their website, nothing could be further from that description.  If you want a great Lodge then I would  recommend Safari Plains in Waterberg which was the location we stayed at prior to Mopane Bush Lodge, they have it perfectly right at Safari Plains and you wont be disappointed there.
