I'm very sorry to give such a bad review, because the staff at the hotel liked me. But there's nothing good here. As soon as you enter there's a smell that makes you understand everything. And the room doesn't improve. Everything blows, everywhere, you don't breathe. The rooms are dirty, the dirt is covered with carpets but you can see it. The walls with stuff hung up that I don't say what it looks like.

Bad and stinking.

As soon as I got to the front desk, he told me that there was no reservation, he offered me a double room but just a place to stand and not move, he told me that I'd see him tomorrow morning for papers and payment, to do before I gave the document is at that moment he said that I had a single room booked, I asked if I could keep the double room paying more, he said that I can't use the single room. He didn't give me the key to the single room if I didn't pay first, with 3 credit cards he refused payment I said if the postman had problems he told me that the problem was my cards, luckily I had bank notes. I came out and my credit cards were working regularly.

Never again

The room stinked like s**t for 4 days, and even after the request they didn't change us the room. In 4 days they never cleaned our room. When we first entered the room, apart from the bad smelling, the bad weren't ready, and the room wasnt clean.
Also: worst shower I ever seen (can't even call that a shower), staff totally unprepeared to run an hotel and absent for the client, the restaurant saturday night live show can be heard also from Hungary.
Make yourself a favor, DON'T GO THERE.

Worst Hotel ever!!

The Basarab is a modest hotel, which certainly needs a lot of structural intervention, whether the intention is to make it compete with the big international chains, or to make it simply more presentable. We could talk about splendid linen decorations, folding and fresh laundry; bathrooms large enough to fit into a shower with a Mercedes; we could talk about comedy beds, but we won't, simply because the long structure is in a good state diametrically opposite to what we had imagined. The location of the structure is not compromised however: the basarab is a small, classical neighborhood that is not cheap enough to pay for it.

For 15 euros a night, hard to find a better one.

I stayed in the hotel only one night and in such short time, it was alright. As I entered the room on a cold, windy and snowy day (blizzard outside!), window in the room and in the bathroom were wide open. The room was freezing cold - Siberia. I went down to the reception and they told me that when the temperature reach its limit, the heating stops in the rooms (hallways were warm). After some time, the radiator was a bit warm, but all afternoon and night I was frozen. The room was so narrow I could hardly put my things down. No curtain at the bathtub. The view from the window was terrible. Generally, staff at the reception and in the restaurant was really nice and breakfast was really tasty.

Hotel needs some investment

No way to stay there again! It's poor and more than cheap. Thin walls so anyone could hear anything.Bring your soap and shampoon in order to take shower. Except the personnel nothing is worthing. You better choose a hostel.

Dissapointing

Me and my boyfriend stayed in 2 nights. The hotel is very close to the main train station as it was an advantage because we had to travel by train to another cities and also there are lots of shops and places to buy food. We got a double room which was at the third floor which it was small but we found it cosy and clean. Also we got a tv with some english channels and a fridge where we could put our water and food and the bed was comfortable. What I didn't like about it was the shower which didn't have any cover so the water was going everywhere in the little bathroom and also the air conditioner which smells when you have it on. Overall the room was good for the price we paid, because to be honest we needed a place to sleep. About the reception, the woman there was very friendly and nice, she even offered to help us order something from her phone. And also i liked the fact you can check out at 12 o'clock which leaves you time to sleep and pack in a relax manner.

A good hotel

If I could give a zero star or negative star review I would. This place was a dump, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. The bed was hard, the bathroom had no shower just the drain (the shower bed but no walls or curtain), the air conditioning was terrible, the stairs were dark and narrow. The bed had no sheets or bedding on it but rather a sheet was at the foot of the bed and I had to make it. Overall the worst place I have ever stayed at. If I had to say one good thing about this hotel, the check in clerk was friendly. Otherwise do not stay here, there are better hotels in the area for the same price or less.

Horrible

Extremely disappointed when I came home and two weeks later found out that we brought bed bugs into our home from the hotel. There is no way I could've brought them from anywhere else, we only travelled to Bucharest. They are all over the place and had to call in exterminators two times to get rid of them. Horrible and dirty little hotel, would never visit again

Modest hotel, a few steps from Gare de Nord station. Without great comfort or great claims at a modest price. I noticed the dust above the reception cabinets on arrival; the woman at the reception spoke a little Italian. Room quite clean with minimal amenities, the TV did not take Italian channels. Not very isolated from noise especially internally. The biggest problem found with the room temperature (too hot and unregulable, Even the water is unregulable or hot or cold.
