Received a Tx  message while we were in the air travelling from Australia to New Zealand, cancelling our  booking. From Sydney, we tried several times to contact you, left messages. No reply. Arrived in Auckland at midnight, having to find and arrange accomodation for the night.  This should never occur, totally unprofessional. Thankfully the rest of our visit to New Zealand was exceptional.

Extremely stressful experience

Host David was very helpful he picked us up and dropped us from airport. He even came when I locked myself out of the apartment. 10/10
The apartment was exactly what you saw when you booked. It was clean and spacious. And view was amazing 10/10
But unfortunately the whole experience let it down. You had a man upstairs who stated he hated Brits to come to his country and does not abide by rules. There was no talking allowed after 10 pm on the balcony and no one should be sitting on the balcony. This went on for a few days till I told him where to get off shouting down to me.
You had dogs barking, people screaming and shouting and doors slamming throughout the night. And he had the cheek to shout down to me.
The apartment was not elderly friendly. My husband whom was in his 80s had trouble having a shower. The reason for this it was a bath come shower not walk in shower.
There was no cleaner to change sheets or towels they provided a washing machine.
There was a bus stop outside apartment but the buses took ages to come. We brought a 14 days bus pass to get around but you could not get on and off bus because everything was so far away from bus stop. Having elderly person whom could hardly walk was not a good idea.
This apartment and area is okay for young people and people whom are in good health.  For 3 years I wanted to see Maderia but then Covid came and life changed.
 I was very disappointed. So that why I wanted to do this review. Due to it not being elderly friendly. Think before you book how healthy are you.

Holiday

Perfect stay! Peaceful place (typical countryside), great host, nicely decorated house with a garden, clean rooms and wonderful breakfast!  We have planned to stay only for  two nights but finally stayed for five.
I recommend to everyone!

Great place

Quinta do Lombo is a very beautiful and quite place. We stayed here for 11 days (we planned our stay first for only five days and as we liked it so much we extended it for another six nights). Rita is a great and warm hearted lady and we enjoyed every minute staying with her! It is a very nice landhouse with only a few nicely furnited rooms, a big garden and a really nice terrace. Rita was serving a very nice breakfast every morning. We enjoyed the eggs, granola, cake, cheese, ham, pancakes, ... a lot. It changed actually everyday a bit. We can highly recommend a stay at Rita's Quinta and we'll be her guest again for sure...

Beautiful and remote place

Let me first start with the positives: the house is very tastefully decorated and clean, the views from the balcony are nice and the breakfast was good. This place isn't really a hostel, but rather more like a B&B (the landlady lives in the upper floor of the property). It's difficult to find this property and even harder to drive all the way up to the entrance. 
Unfortunately, we had a very uneasy experience during our stay, due to a mix up with the rooms: we booked a room with private bathroom, however the host made us feel extremely guilty when we asked to change to the en-suite room (after other guests used the bathroom that was supposedly just for us). The host only apologised on the following morning, after one of her business partners showed her on Booking.com that we were right.

Rita is a great host!
Also, the bedroom and the house are beautiful!
Combined with a delicious breakfast, it was a great experience to stay 3 days at quinto do lombo!
We hope to come back very soon!
Moreover the location is great to have amazing view points and to leave for great walks
