Wszyscy obywatele Chile, niezależnie od długości pobytu, oraz wszyscy obcokrajowcy, którzy przebywają w kraju przez co najmniej 60 kolejnych dni, mogą być zobowiązani do zapłaty krajowego podatku obrotowego (19%) podczas wymeldowania. Aby uzyskać zwolnienie z konieczności zapłaty podatku, cudzoziemcy muszą przy wjeździe zapłacić za pobyt w obcej walucie (nie w chilijskich pesos) i przedstawić ważny paszport wraz z kartą migracyjną, którą otrzymali przy wjeździe do kraju. Jeżeli osoba podlegająca zapłacie podatku oraz osoba z niego zwolniona dzielą pokój, wówczas stawka może zostać zastosowana do całego pokoju.
