Run by a very friendly family.  The apartment with kitchen is very spacious and holds great value (60 PEN) in low season.  They left me checkout at 4pm with no questions asked, no fees and simply a smile.  I recommend.

Friendly and nice Value!!!

I spend 6 months of every year in Huanchaco and my preferred accommodation was not going to be available this year, so I booked for a 6 month stay - based on the advert that had been placed in a variety of online rental sites! The mini-apartment listed was first floor (in Peru that would be second, as ground floor is first) and the accompanying photos showed a spacious one-bedroomed apartment, fully fitted kitchen (large fridge-freezer, 4 burner cooker with oven, microwave, etc), a small balcony, which all looked clean and nice. I contacted them via the advert and booked for 6 months, checking up a couple of times that everything was still OK.
On arrival in Trujillo I called and told them I was on the way and took a taxi from the airport - a journey of 10 minutes. The owner was not there - having gone to the market - but I was shown a room, which was on the ground floor, was open plan with beds and bunks just off the kitchen area. and with a poorly fitted kitchen (only a two-burner hotplate and a very small under-counter fridge). I explained that this was not the apartment I had booked and was told to wait for the owner. He arrived shortly and told me that the mini-apartment was booked for 4 months, but I could have any of the other apartments, and showed me another - just like the previous one, on the ground floor and poorly appointed. Maybe suitable for a weekend visit, but definitely not for a long-term rental.
I explained that this was totally unsuitable for a 6 month stay, and was not what I had seen advertised and booked (directly from the advert) - and the response was that they had several apartments for rent, but only ever showed the photos from one of them!! At this stage I made my apologies and left - I had not slept for over 30 hours by then, but tired as I was could not face sleeping in one of these rooms.

So bad I didn't even move in!

There are family bungalows equipped with the basics to spend a few days of relaxation, it is 1 block from the beach, with swimming pool and barbecue.

We spent 2 nights with 3 friends in total, they didn't give us the room with a cabin and a bed, quite comfortable with bathroom included. We have a restaurant but convenient for lunch in front of the beach. It has a pool. If someone who is not staying wants to use the pool should pay S/ 10.

Good rooms for families.

We could improve some aspects of furniture and maintenance but the cleanliness is good and above all very friendly staff. Everything is improvable.

To be close to the beach

A comfortable place to stay, with a swimming pool, close to the beach, but with no sea view, the lack of some maintenance in the green areas and a cleaner pool, the attention was regular.

Cost for parking a camper is 20 soles each for adults & 5 soles each for children. No showers outside but you can use a shower if they have an empty room - showers are cold though. Electricity points outside but these only worked the first night we were there. Laundry service advertised but when I asked they wouldn't do our washing. Wifi doesn't work from back garden - you have to go down by the office.

We stayed 3 nights & were about to stay for the 4th night (which was New Year's Eve), when we were told we had to leave in 2 hours. The reason they gave us was they needed the space to use the ground as a car park. This was at 2pm, leaving us very little time to find somewhere secure to park up as a family with 2 kids, on New Year's Eve of all nights!! To add insult to injury, another van arrived after us but they were able to stay that night as they had booked in through a different member of staff!

Only 1 star due to really poor customer service and treatment of us as a family. 


Sent packing on New Years Eve

I stayed at this hotel a few months ago and I definitely recommend it, its staff was very attentive and collaborative, although we arrived a few hours before we could use the reserved bungalow they provided us with a room to leave our things and to rest while they unoccupied the bungalow and cleaned it up.The hotel is close to the beach, not very large but cozy, and the bungalows are spacious.If I had to return to Huanchaco I would stay in the same place.

We live in a truck and set up camp next to the pool for 10 days. Huanchaco Gardens is conveniently located close to the beach if you came to surf. There are two large tortuouses that roam the property and often try to embrace each other on an intimate level, while drinking water from our dogs bowl. We found that entertaining. For campers: this place is lacking a community kitchen (many hostel campgrounds have community kitchens.) But we were still able to make ourselves at home here.
