Have stayed in various rooms: single, matrimonial and quads. Beds are comfortable, showers have good water pressure and hot water most of the time. Two kitchens available to cook and large rooftop to view sunsets or hang out. Owners are extremely kind and helpful to guests.

Affordable and friendly service close to beach

We spent a few days here. The rooms are clean and the host is nice.
You can use the kitchen.
Mondays the family cocks a traditional dish which you can buy and enjoy.
It is a few minutes walk to the beachfront.
Overall for the price there is nothing to complain about.

Nice clean Hostel for fair price

I have stayed at this hospital quite a few times and never have I been disappointed.rooms are nice and reasonably priced. There's a shared kitchen so you can always prepare your own meals.just a few blocks from the beach and close to many eateries. Showers are good and hot and owner is super nice and great to do business with.

All-Around Great

Wonderful hostel atmosphere. The McCallum family can cook breakfast, lunch or dinner for menu as well as offer laundry service at a fair price. The hostel has a communal kitchen, basic rooms that are clean, hot water and strong wifi. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an economical location a little off the beaten path. One block from over 20 restaurants with economical food options.

Great hostel and wonderful family to share culture with!

I have been living in Peru for 3 years and stay at Mccallums every time I am in Huanchaco. The hostal is comfortable and very affordable. The water is always hot and internet works pretty well. Most importantly the family that runs the hostal is incredible, and will go above and beyond for any of their guests. Whether it be use of the kitchen, taking care of someone who is sick, accommodating your travel plans, or including you as part of the family for holidays and celebrations. They have truly done it all! Nowhere is HCO is quite like this place.

Best Huanchaco hostel

I stayed there for three nights, the hostel is quiet and close to the beach, restaurants and shops. The laundry service is good and cheap. The only shortcomings were that the WiFi worked regularly and that the kitchen was always occupied by the owners but I don't care much since eating in Huanchaco is relatively cheap.

Quiet and cheap hostel.

I stayed there a few weeks working for a charity. Usually, the clients are surfers, I am not. It is a bit off the central line, you may find more ambient hotels at the front line. But it is 5 minutes walk from the shore, anyway. There is the best bakery in the town on the corner of Los Ficus street and front. The staff, the family, were very helpful and nice, even though not everybody spoke English (well, that is the regular thing... you need some Spanish in those parts, I did not have a problem with it). Very safe and reliably place. Most problems were with the internet, when everybody got on the net in the evenings... as well as with hot water in these hours. Otherwise, no problem. They cooked good food (and tried to do something new every day, although there was no menu.) There are tons of such places in Huanchaco, but this one I lived in, and I liked it.

A family, good environment, very clean!! Excellent tips: how much to pay for taxis, where to eat, what to visit.;etc. Near the beach. Shops in the same street (it is important to drink plenty of water, too much heat)

The McCallum is a nice hostel with many rooms and a kitchen for use. The double room was very clean and large. There was a cabinet for use inside and the bathroom was clean. Rooms are cleaned and bedding changed if you stay longer. The owner is very nice, although the rest of the family is not necessarily friendly.

Nice hostel at a fair price

A cozy hostel run by a courteous and available family. Favourably located, it has a variety of bedroom, double and double solutions with and without bathroom. I use a free kitchen, wifi and courtyard with tables and sheds where to relax. Maximum courtesy and availability. Cleanliness and differentiated collection.
