I had the misfortune to arrive by bus from Managua on a rainy day. I thus had difficulty in finding the Hostal. When I did, at aout 7 pm, the person at the reception did not even ask to identify me, and I was led to a room with a window giving on the corridor, a small old sink giving only a tiny fillet or water, etc. Only cold water, but that seems to be general in San Juan. I eventually got used to all these "perks"...

I emphasize the positive aspects and the things that should be improved. Free WiFi Use of the kitchen and refrigerator, although it is difficult when there are too many guests. Courtesy cafe every morning. Good location a few meters from the beach. I'm very sorry for the negative things I have to write. Pillows were to be thrown away with a smell of mold and sweat, giving the impression that basements and pillows were dirty, a terrible smell, those different pillows, they were covered with mold and mold. They improve the cleaning of the pillows, pillows to the sun, use soap, detergent.

A good start.

We arrived by public transport in San Juan del Sur and from the stop located on the street (in front of the market) we walked a couple of blocks and found this cheap and with excellent location, either to go to the beach or the bars on foot or on the way back to take the bus back to Rivas.

 Economical and with excellent location to go to the beach or the bars walking.

10$ for a dorm and 20$ for private room with private bathroom. Nice balcony. And coffee included in the morning. Big kitchen and fridge that yiu can use during your stay. I recommend it. Stay there 4 nights. 50m from the beach. 

Good hostel

I stayed here with my friends in the dorms. It was great, fans at every bed & the beds were comfortable as well. Great location, very close to the centre but also quiet enough to get away from the partying of San Juan. Free coffee and biscuits in the morning as well as free water. 

Great Hostel in a great location!

Hostal Brisas y Olas is just one block away from the beach and set in a great location. The room was very small, the beds were not very comfortable, it wasn't the cleanest, and the wifi did not work. The staff was very nice and helpful though. If you are looking for a place to hangout a lot I would look elsewhere, but if you just need a room to sleep in while you spend your day on the beach this is a good way to save some money.

Good location, minimal accommodations 

Kitchen is good, fridge is clean and nice balcony. "Lounge" could have had a few more chairs, but I guess they wouldn't have fit in. Our first room on second floor the bathroom smelled weird and we they arranged for us to move downstairs. Good bed, overall a good basic room. A lot of bugs, but this is a common thing when living on ground floor. Free water in the reception and friendly staff. Stayed a week and it was a good budget option in otherwise expensive sjds.

We stayed for two days with one question only WHY I WAS IN? The room at first glance could also mirror the $20 cost per night.... The problem came after cockroaches and ants a real nightmare! The room in my opinion was cleaned at least 1 month before our arrival (under the bed there's everything and more). The room has a window on the hallway so it sleeps little at night while the guard seems to have turned on a tractor in the hostel RUSSA POCHISSIMO..,.,.,., television is there but it doesn't work.... Do you want air conditioning????? 14 dollars more a night 😱

To be Avoided

We stayed here for a couple of nights and the truth is super nice and clean. Very nice staff has a kitchen and we rented a private room with TV bathroom and wi-fi. The room is small but it was fine. And we paid $672 cordobas a night. It's close to the beach and around the bank. Very good location. And at night the door closes with key and there's a gentleman in charge of opening it. Super safe! Congratulations!
