Hostel Javier's House 2

After 12 weeks of travelling through Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua our stay in room 6 at Hostel Javier 2 was lovely. We had booked only for 2 days but ended up staying for 8 days. As like most of Central America the neighbours were noisy and started music at 5.45am, the roosters crowed all the time and the dog barking was manic especially when the power went out for one night all night. The neighbours car alarm went of at least twice aday. No hot water (but getting a hot shower in central america is few and far between) and it only came out as a furious dribble. The general house was cleaned daily though probably not to most westerners standards, the kitchen was abit grubby but had everything you needed and lots of space. The back yard was off limits (it was not properly secured I think?) but had potential to be quite lovely. Plenty of room in the lounge downstairs - where there is three double bedroom and the shared bathroom. We were upstairs, where there is three double bedrooms with private bathrooms and the outside deck area which was quite pleasant. Our room was very spacious, with a very comfortable slat bed - (the sheets didn't fit so well, so they did tend to come of during the night), a good size desk to work from (we grabbed a chair from the deck to sit on), wifi was very good, wardrobe and a couple of other side tables, a tv which we didn't even turn on but best of all we had windows that could open out to the back yard - which was quite nice as there was a big tree to look at and if no one was around upstairs we could leave the front door open as well which gave us a lovely feeling of our own space.Our room was cleaned only once, but I'm sure if you ask the cleaner (you must be there while they clean) to remove the rubbish bin etc they will. There is no physical security, cleaner comes once a day, Hostel Javier 1 is only a 5 min walk away and Javier Snr who owns the hostel normally pops in once a day to check on everything or more if he is dropping of guest, which he does on the back of his motor bike. Javier and Javierette, his daughter who speaks English fluently are both helpful, friendly and wonderful hosts. Javier gave us a couple of Hostel Javier t/shirts - which we will wear quite proudly and we will highly recommend a stay especially if you get room 6.
