The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The A/C is very strong. Also there is TV, though it is fuzzy. The bathroom is big, but the shower water pressure is very low, and does not go above lukewarm temperature. 

We went during construction time and it started at 7 a.m right outside our bedroom door, which was a little frustrating. 

The staff did not speak much English, so you might want someone in your group that has good spanish. 

Clean and Strong A/C

We were lucky to have found this quiet, comfortable oasis a little bit away from town. From the outside, all you see is a wall with a gate but once inside there is a beautiful courtyard with exotic plants and a sitting area to relax. We stayed in the first room to the left (near the stairs). The room was spacious, modern, and clean. We were impressed! There were 2 double beds, tv, great AC and modern bathroom. We felt comfortable and safe in our room.

There is a full functioning kitchen that we didn't really use, but it was nice to have. There is a large sitting area where we would let our infant crawl and play. We didn't have to worry about cars since we were inside. 

Wifi was good, although stronger in the reception area. I think we paid $30US/night and stayed 3 nights. Leon is very hot most times of the year so it is amazing to have a cool, functioning AC that we blasted all night.

The staff was great, hospitable and friendly. They called us a taxi when we needed one and always attended to our needs. It was a pleasure staying here. Highly recommended, and toddler approved!

Home away from home

I stayed here for two nights in early December 2015. Arriving on a major holiday (Immaculate Conception), the only room they had left was a triple without bathroom and A/C. The room could not have been simpler (windows, three single beds and one tiny dresser, nothing else -- not even a light bulb), but US$20 per night seemed fair. The hostal has a very nice terrace from which one overlooks the city's northwestern barrios, and a steady breeze renders the heat a little more manageable. A volcano is visible in the distance. The noise level was low throughout my stay, despite the holiday. Small things could still be improved (the shared shower ought to be looked after, the light bulbs changed, the WiFi loses signal quite frequently, and the ashtray on the terrace should be emptied regularly), but overall the casona is very clean -- in fact, one of the two young women doing all the chores (as well as staffing the reception) can always be seen either swiping or wiping the tiles somewhere in the house.

Great place for our 2 week stay. Staff very helpful.Large room on ground floor. Kitchen is easy to use. Many common areas make it feel like home.

Have enjoyed first week and looking forward to our second.
