This motel has a good location for the convention centre but that is about all. You get what you pay for and it was very cheap.
Good things first - the shower was hot, powerful and lots of hot water. lots of storage for toiletries
Kitchen was stocked with enough crockery and cutlery
However - the room was clean in the bits you could mostly see but under the bedside cabinets and bed left a lot to be desired.
 Carpet was grubby and the one in our room was all rucked up and a bit of a trip hazard
The bathroom towels looked like they'd come from an op-shop with 3 different colours and fraying edges
The heater was powerful but it was incredibly loud on full - which we needed as it was very cold weather while we were there. Take earplugs
It is right next to the main road and that is noisy too - take ear plus if you don't sleep the sleep of the dead
The up side is you are close to lots of cafes for breakfast and we recommend the Addington Coffee Co-Op
The bed was very uncomfortable
Basically if all you want a VERY cheap place close to the road and the convention centre and you sleep soundly - this is for you!

Good location for convention centre

My booking qualified us for an upgrade to a one bedroom apartment, we were staying for one night after arriving on the Coastal Pacific Rail from Picton to Christchurch - a 6 hour journey.

The owner had not replied to my emails requesting a free shuttle service, which was included in the motel's list of services, from the railway station to his motel.  
We telephoned from the railway station, and he turned up in a unpleasant smelling car.

The photos on the website for the one bedroom apartment, which I have since double-checked out, look nothing like the room we were given.

The carpet was dirty brown and stained, the sofa cushions and chairs were stained, the pots were not clean, the microwave door button was broken, the room door latch was broken, the red bedspread cover was dirty, the curtains were coming off the rails and there were splashes of paint on the walls which i can only assume was to cover up damage or stains. 
There were two single beds in the lounge, and the lounge chairs were pushed aside so the living area was cramped. 

It appeared as though we  were allocated the non- refurbished storeroom, this certainly was not an upgrade

We should have returned to Reception and demanded satisfaction. It was 8.30pm, we were tired.

Accommodation and services as advertised should be provided to every guest that comes in through Reception, in the first instance; guests should not have to complain to receive.

One would think now that the pandemic has badly affected the hospitality industry, travellers could expect an even better level of service, we found this motel's attitude  a shocking experience. 

Our room was next to the main road and morning traffic noise was loud. We could not get out of there fast enough.

Contrary to the positive comments by other reviewers, which led me to book this motel in the first place, our stay turned out to be most disappointing.

Needless to say, I would not recommend this motel.

Shocking!

My partner made an error booking the incorrect night for his visit to Christchurch and once realised the mistake attempted to correct this by speaking with the Motel owner. I realise an error was made however the motel owner refused to transfer the payment made to the correct date and refused a refund so that mistake unfortunately ended up being an expensive one. Shame as my partner travels regularly and would have provided this motel with ongoing business......if he had been treated with a bit more compassion!

Very disappointed with service

Very close to the Christchurch arena which was perfect for the event we had come for. For the price, the room was fairly clean and spacious, it had all the facilities we needed for a quick one night stay. The bed was a little on the hard side and the exterior could do with some cleaning and maintenance but overall very good budget accommodation.

Value for money

The room was not serviced and I had to ask for shampoo etc. we did get clean towels but nothing else. No bed made just thrown together, no dishes cleaned.. room smelt stale. Very disappointed.. never going there again.

Dated but clean motel, some broken fittings such as bathroom lights. Cheap touches such as UHT milk detracted from a reasonably pleasant sleeping space and comfortable bed. On a busy arterial road so road noise in peak times.

The major issue was paper thin walls - inconsiderate neighbours can be heard from all units upstairs, downstairs and next door even with earplugs. Light sleepers beware...

This was a very good standard for a motel, and everything went smoothly.  We had two stays, different rooms, both good.

We booked two units for two couples before heading north on the Coastal Pacific train. The units were of a good size, had everything we needed, and were clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. The fact they offer a free ride to the rail station early in the morning was a significant reason we stayed here. This was very much appreciated. We would certainly stay again if in the area. Thanks.
