Very small family-run hotel, very kind owner. Moquette everywhere, which I don't like much, small but really clean room. Perfect for a short stay s remember visiting the nearby beaches or the Kunstmuseum, but with the means that there are in The Hague you can go wherever you want even from here!

Cleanliness and Kindness

The Excelsior is welcoming, very comfortable, and located in a lovely neighborhood. Nearby there  are restaurants and shops just a few steps from the door. It is also a short walk to The World Forum where I had a business conference during the week. More than anything else, the host Ed is warm, thoughtful, and goes out of his way to help you with your needs. I cannot say enough about Ed. The Hotel is lovely and he makes it an experience you won’t forget. The breakfast is copious with ample servings of anything you might want. If you want an experience that is personable and makes you feel well cared for this is the place to stay!

Warm and wonderful

The old charm of the 50s, only the flat screen of the TV reminds us that we are in 2020! An impeccable cleanliness, a lovely welcome, a very rich breakfast served at the table! The bemool is that the reception closes at 8pm, even though by mail the owner of the place wanted to wait until 9:30pm....It's a bit fair!!

That's good.

I stayed here during my three days business. Accommodation, breakfast and hotel staff were just great, far better then more expensive hotel chains.

Three days business trip

Visited in October for the rock and gem show. We arrived earlier than the 3 o’clock check in, but they had rooms ready for us, which was very helpful. The room was very large and well equipped. The minibar is well stocked and everything is €1, which is very reasonable. 
The bathroom was nice, but the shower wasn’t brilliant and the towel holder touched the toilet. However there was nice L’Occitane toiletries. The room was noisy, but it’s position is so central you have to accept that. I would have liked tea and coffee making facilities but there’s a coffee shop right opposite. 
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. All in all the hotel is very good and I would definitely stay there again as there’s lots more to see in Munich than we managed in our long weekend. 

Superb location 

A very pleasant few days. The hotel has only 8 rooms and felt a bit more like a bed and breakfast than a hotel. The manager was a good guy and was helpful.

Aquick trip to Den Haag

4 nights in The Hague. Hotel Excelsior easily accessible via Tram number 16. 20 minute walk to World Forum. 1 to 2 blocks to several pubs and restaurantsEuro style breakfast was excellent.Mr Ed is a gracious and fastidious host, rightfully proud of his boutique property.

Clean,comfortable, convenient boutique hotel room

The hotel is very well maintained and very clean. It is in a good position with easy parking on the street. The owner is very kind and the breakfast is excellent! Recommended!

It's perfect.

We were at the Hotel Excelsior for the first time, since in Scheveningen all the hotels were booked for holiday time. We did not regret it. The small hotel run by the owner is within reach of the port of Scheveningen. Parking was available on the street and had to be paid from 13:00 to 24:00. The rest was free!! We had room No. 7 in the 2nd Stock (elevator), the largest room with a double seat, seating area, dressing room with plenty of space and enough dressing room. The bathroom was conveniently furnished and very spacious. There was even a large balcony/terrace that was very relaxing over a very old area. The ticketing room was very convenient for this hotel.

Small but nice and cozy!!!!

We've heard reports that the owner is very friendly and engaging, and in fact he was kind enough to wait for us to check in until 9pm after our train was delayed on arrival. 

But the woman who was the weekend staff was not considerate at all. We asked that the windows be kept shut after cleaning, but arrived to find them open, and she didn't apologise but responded that at least the drapes were closed. She also was very impolite in the way she informs guests that the garden is for private use only. 

We were traveling with friends and were told that we had to give up the table that seats 4 people because a family was arriving and therefore they had priority. She couldn't think to offer a solution, which was simply to put 4 settings at another table. Breakfast is basic, but plentiful. But if you want any more water or coffee you'll never see the staff again. 

Conveniently located at a tram stop. 
Rooms on the street side are very noisy. 
There is no air-conditioning so the rooms get very hot and stuffy. Again, she could not think of alternatives, like a fan they had in storage, until we asked repeatedly for a solution.

We certainly won't stay here again. The uncomfortable environment will only encourage us to look for another option.
