My daughter and I had a lovely stay at this B&B. The neighborhood is absolutely amazing - I am so glad we chose the location over others. The street is beautiful and wide, and there are so many adorable boutiques and yummy restaurants (including a late night frites shoppe) within walking distance. We always felt safe walking at night. The Anne Frank museum is about an 8 minutes walk, and the star of our vacation - an incredible city market - was just around the corner. You can also easily walk to De Wallen if that's your thing, and there are a couple of tram stops within a 5 minute walk that will take you to Museumplein, Artis, and other popular neighborhoods. The Netherlands public transport app is very easy to use. 
While the street outside the B&B is very quiet, you will have the occasional loud talker outside your window, but this adds to the experience. The hum of the canal tour boats I found relaxing. The view from the canal room window can't be beat. Lowes and her husband are the most friendly, sweet people ever. Lowes makes a beautiful little breakfast with fresh squeezed juice, coffee or hot cocoa, fresh eggs cooked to your liking, bacon, local cheeses, fruit, tomatoes, and a basket of assorted market breads with homemade fruit jam and butter. Her husband took care to set out some small sandwiches, fresh juice, and fruit early in the morning before our flight home. It was very sweet of him (Lowes had left for London the day before we departed). 
Everything smells amazing in the canal room - the linens, towels and blankets are spotless and soft. The bed is comfy enough with decent pillows. We got a good nights sleep all four nights we stayed. The only thing I did not care for about the room was the shower. It is very small, and the shower curtain blows in and sticks to you. The hot water also causes the fixture to get scorching hot, and it drips little firey droplets of hot water on your feet as you shower. This is something that could be updated perhaps with a repair of the fixture, and getting a heavier shower curtain. There are no wash cloths for your body provided, so make sure to bring something to scrub with. 
I would without a doubt stay at this B&B again many times over. For the price, location, and lovely hosts you can't beat this stay in Amsterdam.

Wonderful Stay in Amsterdam!

We recently stayed at this B and B. 
The owners were welcoming and quite friendly. We stayed in the canal room which is comfortable. Both the bedroom and bath are very large. Large windows overlook the canal. 
Breakfast was delicious. Assortment of breads, cheese, fruit and our choice of eggs. 
The owners have thought of everything. Bedding was very comfortable. They bring your luggage up the steep stairs. 
We were able to walk to everything from this beautiful location. The owners gave suggestions on restaurants. 
We would definitely return.

Amsterdam B and B

We stayed 2 nights in the Canal Room and would have loved to stay longer.  Our room was comfortable, clean, quiet and had a fabulous view of the canal.  It was rainy during our visit and it was delightful to relax in our cozy room.  By European standards, both the bedroom and bathroom were huge.  The hosts were friendly and very helpful/accommodating.  Breakfast was hearty and tasty.  
In our opinion, the B&B is in a perfect location.  It's only a couple blocks from the train station and a short taxi ride from the cruise ship terminal.  There are lots of good restaurants nearby.   Sites in the Jordan district (such as Anne Frank House) are easily accessible, as well as the other main tourist areas in Amsterdam.  We walked everywhere from the B&B, including to the Maritime Museum, the Jewish Quarter, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum,  Dam Square and the Dutch Resistance Museum.  Also, Amsterdam can be a very busy city, filled to overcapacity with visitors like ourselves, and what a delight it was to return to this quiet, peaceful oasis.  We hope to be back soon!

Delightful oasis in a busy city

One of my fave b&b's ever in over 20 years of staying in them. Super nice couple. Best location in all of Amsterdam. Minutes from the train station yet quiet (at the very beginning of the canal). The Jordaan area is right on your doorstep. I stayed in the Canal House. Quiet and comfy. Great breakfast too.

Can't imagine a better place to stay in Amsterdam. Perfect location, wonderful hosts. Excellent breakfast.  Quiet, clean, comfortable rooms. Bike rental very close by. I didn't want to leave! I stayed in the "back house" which has a living space downstairs and bedroom and bathroom upstairs (attic). It felt so much like home I got to the point where I was bringing my food back to eat in and the people are so nice I just wanted to hang with them.

No better place to stay in Amsterdam.

This historic home is located a few short blocks from Central Station and is on the Herengracht canal. It is close to shopping and you can easily walk to historic attractions, museums, cafes, shopping and because you are so close to the train station, you can walk to catch a train or the Metro to other villages or towns.  Our hosts were lovely and you meet other guests at breakfast and compare notes on things to see. Very reasonably priced. This was my third time staying at this B & B

Historic home in a great location

We booked this hotel twice - had to cancel back in 2021 due to COVID. Rebooked as soon as we were able to do so. Our stay was worth the wait.
The Canal Room is located in an historic building . Typical of these homes, access is up a spiral stairway to a room that held many delights. The decorations included art work, a collection of dolls, figurines, bookshelves full of art books and more, a sofa, desk and chair, and a comfortable bed. We needed the bed after our long flight to get to Amsterdam.
Our hostess got us comfortable situated and let us unwind.
The next morning were were treated to a breakfast which included cook to order eggs, plus an array of breads, cheeses, meats, yogurt, cereals...all anyone would need.
With a map in hand we explored the wonderful canals of Amsterdam for the next three days. What an exciting city. What a wonderful place to come home to each night after exploring and visiting museums.
We highly recommend this B&B!

Canal Room Delight

My Mom and I stayed several nights including Kings Day Eve and Kings Day. Hosts are onsite, wonderfully responsive, and speak excellent English. We stayed in the Canal Room and had a front row seat for the boat parade. The room was charming, comfortable and clean. Yes, the stairs are tight and winding. We felt safe in the neighborhood. Less than 10 minutes by foot from Centraal Station, super convenient connection to anywhere in Amsterdam and the whole of the Netherlands. Highly recommend.

True Canal House Experience

This B&B is a great value (and in high demand so plan to book early) and is nicely located, just an easy 10-15 minute walk from Central Station, overlooking the Herengracht canal.   There are many restaurants nearby and bike rental.     

We booked a canal side room here a year in advance during COVID, and were continually monitoring travel restrictions and testing requirements as our trip date approached.   The  friendly owners, Loes and Ton, were very helpful in responding to our inquiries as our travel date approached, and went beyond the call of duty assisting us with assuring we were able to timely complete Covid testing to return back to the States.   Thank you!

We arrived in Amsterdam early following a river cruise for a 2 day stay, and were able to drop off our luggage around 8:30 am, and then set off to rent bikes and sight see, and accessed our room in the afternoon.   Our canal side room was very quiet, and spacious with a comfortable Queen bed and a nice shower, large TV with many channels, fast internet connection, and more.   I think the the residence may originate from the 1600s (?), and reveals many unique, historic features, and is now quite modern in amenities and nicely decorated.   There is a unique spiral staircase to access the upper levels and rooms.  Adjacent to the first level kitchen/dining area is a separate fridge for guests to store wine or other items, and an area with tourist information (maps, restaurant information etc.).

Breakfast was ample, with a variety of fruits (bananas, oranges, grapes, strawberries, apples, avocados, and more), variety of breads, butter, couple of Dutch cheeses, coffee, juice, eggs and bacon all cooked up to order by Loes.  Delicious!  On the day of our departure home, we had to leave before 7:00 am, so we very much appreciated a "to go" breakfast Loes set out and we took along with us. 

Loes and Ton always seemed accessible if we had questions on things to do or needed any other guidance.  We were very satisfied with our stay, and highly recommend and would definitely stay at Herengracht 21 B&B again.

We could not have asked for more!

Our family booked the back room which consisted of a sitting room with sofa bed and an upstairs bedroom with bath. We were right on a canal in the city center and were able to walk to all the major museums and sites. Loes was very helpful with our reservations and the fresh-squeased orange juice and croissants for breakfast were amazing. We were required to get covid tests the day before flying home. Most of the testing centers were closed down. Loes arranged for a private testing company to come to us! If you want to experience a traditional Dutch B and B, this is the place. It does have steep stairs, but worth the climb.
