The location of apartments are fabulous and face the canal. You are so close to a lot of the attractions and shops, restaurants.  On entry there are steep narrow steps. Not suitable for a disabled or older guests. The apartment is large. There were Dirty thin carpets , the fridge was not cleaned and kitchen cupboards not wiped down. Advised we would have coffee capsules and tea bags.  These were not supplied.  No instructions to use the induction hot plates, washing machine.  The bathroom light flickered continuously.  Contacted the management by email and messenger. (I only had wifi)  They did not respond.  Unit 1 is tired and needs some love and attention.  The units are high in price to rent and I thought they would be in a better condition. 



Disappointed with Unit.

We got a very sweet taste of these apartments. The location is very nice, close to the museums and is in the center, next to one of the many beautiful canals. Except for one room, which is small, the spaces are generally spacious. Unfortunately, the apartment was dirty. We passed the vacuum cleaner all over the floor because it was lacking and we found some areas that had not been cleaned for a long time, for example, behind the sofa. We also washed all the dishes, finding dishes that were dirty. The kitchen and bathroom were dirty. The only thing that was clean was the bed and the towels. According to the floor we entered the building from the street, we encountered a nice staircase and a personal bathroom.

Unfortunately, I don’t have many nice things to say about the property itself. Upon checkin I discovered the actual hotel Roemer was nearly a 15 min walk from the apartments. No one advised this nor is it mentioned in the property details. They called me a taxi. I stayed in apartment 540-1. It was in poor condition. Lucky for this property, I’m not able to upload videos on here to show the extent of the filth and poor condition. The carpet was OLD, stained and smelly. The couch in the living room was equally as bad. It should be replaced, as it’s disgusting. I covered it with one of the blankets from the beds just to feel safe to sit on it. The windows facing Prinsengracht don’t keep any noise out. The same for the paper thin walls. You hear EVERY conversation of people walking on the street below as well as every footstep of people in the apartments above. There were LARGE spiderwebs in the corners of the kitchen ceiling and in the windows. There were dishes with food particles still on them in the pantry. There was no dish rag or dishwashing liquid to clean dishes by hand. There were no extra trash bags to empty the garbage. I had to wait until Saturday (5 nights into my 7 night stay) when someone came by to offer more towels, toilet paper and empty the garbage. My key card stopped working, so I had to wait for the hotel to send a driver to the apartment with new key cards. The amenities listed are FALSE: no air-conditioning, no daily housekeeping and absolutely NO soundproofing. I had two small fans that were covered in dust and dirt. I will NEVER stay at these apartments again!

Do NOT Stay Here Unless You Only Care to be on Prinsengracht

Booked through a travel agent so wasn’t impressed when we got to the doors of the apartment with no instructions on how to get in. Was expecting a reception area. These apartments are rented out by Roemer hotel. I think you would be better off to book directly through them. Luckily I had a number to call but it meant another 10 mins of walking to get our check in package. The hotel provided a taxi back to the apartments. The service at the hotel was good. We rented both 500-1 and 500-2. 500-1 had two sets of extremely long steep stairs for access - would not be appropriate for anyone with mobility issues. 
Overall apartments were large and had full modern bathroom facilities. As well as a kitchen which was minimally equipped.
Carpets were stained and old. Beds were comfortable. Furnishings were minimal but did have a lovely large eating table. Very good location.  The magnet release button in 500-1 was falling off the wall. Sometimes took multiple tries to get out, which felt disconcerting.

Amsterdam was very busy - pedals due to National holiday, or due to uptick in travel with easing of COVID restrictions. Streets are littered and crowded. Amsterdam has a lot to offer and some really lovely historic spots. It’s too bad it’s grown so much in popularity that the city cannot keep up with the tourist fallout.

Prinsengracht Apartments Pros and Cons

Good morning, organization pessiMa, persistent staff. they canceled our booking after 1 month of booking saying there was an error with the accounts and the price had gone up.

I'm sorry about that.

We were planning to visit Amsterdam when just some days before departing my father had profoundly serious medical emergency, so he needed us to take care of him. Even all the booking was paid with no refund terms on the contract, the Apartments Prinsengracht team had the most empathic, kind, and professional support by reimbursing the booking. I am sure this team loves their work and will support and help any traveller in their place. We will come to Amsterdam as soon as it is possible, and for when the time comes, we really know our home in Amsterdam is in Prinsengracht Apartments.

Location can not be beat.  You are right on the canal.  Our Living room and second bedroom window looked right down onto the canal.  You can even open the LR window for some fresh air.  The apartment gives you a feel for canal house living in the long somewhat skinny homes.  Our apartment was a two bedroom, one bath (toilet is in a separate room from the sink and shower) and full kitchen.  
The master bedroom includes a king bed, two night stands, a few outlets TV, large floor to ceiling windows and a large floor to ceiling closet with hanger, shelves and a safe.  The second bed room was smaller (could be a bit tight with suitcases (we didn’t use the 2nd bedroom) with a queen bed, small TV, one night stand and no real storage. 

The Living / Dining room was long and bright.   The round table with chars (4) was next to the wonderful huge window overlooking the canal.  The couch was fine but just basic and not too comfy.  There was a large TV on the wall across from the couch and a few small tables for drinks, papers, etc. 

Great large/long bathroom: 1) laundry combo washer and dryer - works great – takes a bit of playing around to figure out how to work the different setting but not too bad.   Just supply your own laundry detergent;  2)  plenty of towels of all sizes check under the sink cabinet for additional towels; 3) walk-in in shower: plenty of hot water, nice overhead shower head turn the knob one way to get water from the overhead or the other for the hand held shower, soap dispenser in the shower but no shampoo; 4) nice sink with decent room for a few thing, soap dispenser above the sink; 5) hair dryer and extra towels under the sink in the cabinet.  The toilet was in a separate very small room with a small sink.  It was nice to have the toilet separate since there is only one bathroom with the shower. 

Kitchen:  well-appointed kitchen with stove top, microwave, toaster, small oven, coffee maker and pods, sink, frig, freezer, oven, hot pot, utensils, plates, cups, pots, etc.  They provide about 8 coffee pods and then refreshed them once during our one week stay.  Note the freezer and refrigerator could be a bit cleaner.
TV worked fine.  There were a number of English speaking channel such as CNN World, BBC 1, BBC2, MTV, Spike, FOX, Disney cartoons, TLC, History.  Wifi didn’t work well as all the first couple of days and then magically with worked great for the remainder of our stay.

The location is fabulous besides the canal being right there you are about 5-10 minutes for the Rijksmuseum, Moco, Van Gough and Stedelijk museums.  The Martine Museum, Rembrandt House Museum, Dutch Resistance, Zoo, Gassan Diamonds, etc. are all walkable towards the north east.  Ann Frank, DAM square, Jordaan, the Amsterdam Museum, are all walkable to the north west.    There are tons of great restaurant just to within 5 minutes walk from your door.  Restaurants we enjoyed included: Wurst & Schnitzelhaus (fabulous German schnitzel, sausage), Villa Maria Steakhouse (ribs are the best!!, steak)  El vino (Mexican), Pizzeria Rimini (pizza, pasta), The Pantry (Dutch).  Also there is a supermarket with in 5-10 minute walk AH Vijzelstraat or a smaller one even closer TOGO AH Leidsestraat.
Many review already covered the stairs to the apartments.  I have included a couple of pictures.  It could be a problem is you are elderly and not fit or have a handicap.  We were on the 1st floor which means I would estimate 25-30  stairs.  Of course the rooms above are more.

I would definitely recommend this location is you are not looking for a hotel to be pampered in but instead a lovely apartment type stay in a terrific location with great view of the canal.

Location, location, location.  Plus roomy suite.

Because I was staying for a week, the Vondel Hotel people shifted me from a single room  at Hotel Vondel to Apartments Prinsengracht.  Wow, what a treat!  I stayed in a fully furnished apartment that would comfortably sleep four.  Excellent location, full kitchen, spacious living area, fascinating art, and the bathroom has a heated floor!  Comfy bed, 3 flat screen TVs (in 2 bedrooms and living room), and a captivating view (see attached).  I interacted with the management people at Hotel Roemer, another Vondel property, and they were excellent.  I would return to the Apartments Prinsengracht without hesitation.  And if I couldn't stay in an apartment, I'd do one of their other properties.

Stay here!  And if you can't, consider other Vondel Hotel properties

We stayed at the apartment for 8 days in July with our 2 teenagers. The apartment was clean and spacious. The master bedroom had a very comfortable large bed. The smaller room also had a comfortable bed. The kitchen was well appointed and had all we need to cook some meals. The dishwasher is a bonus. There is also a washing machine, which was great as we have been travelling for 3 weeks.The apartment was cleaned every day. The location is great, right on the Prinsengracht canal and less than 5 minute walk to the tram line Be aware that it is up 3 steep flights of stairs so anyone with mobility issues would find this difficult or not possible (also remember you have to get your luggage up those stairs!). Also note that you have to check in at a hotel and then make your way to the apartment. They did provide a taxi for us (as check in was about 15 min late from their end) but I'm not sure if that is standard. Otherwise, it's about a 15 min. walk

Wonderful place to stay!

The apartment was the perfect location. It was a 20 minute walk from Centrum and pretty much everything else. The view of the canal from the front window was beautiful. The street is quiet, but has  cafes, coffee shops and food in the block. I believe the review about the break in wasn't a code issue, but they may not have closed the outside door properly. We realized the first day that if you don't push the door closed until you hear the "click", then it will not be locked. The apartment was clean and stocked with plates, cooking utensils,etc. The employee Jose who was in charge of cleaning our apartment and replacing linens was great and really went above and beyond. He even washed the cups we left in the sink when we had to abruptly run to work one morning! The front desk employees were very friendly and accommodating. I cannot recommend this place enough. Our stay was truly a delight.
