Friendship Hostel is a good option when traveling with a budget. Good location. Five minutes walk to the center of Thamel. Simple rooms but that will perfectly solve you while visiting Kathmandu and surroundings. The room is equipped with a TV, fan and double window to the outside. The mattress is somewhat durable but I put a good one. With a private bathroom. The attention was right. You have to ask to change the sheets and clean towels. The price is good for a budget trip or if you are making a long stay trip.

It's simple but perfectly solved.

We made a last minute booking here but were told we'd have an ensuite double room. A friend of  ours booked the same and  got what she expected but ours was a dank, damp 6m2 cell with no natural light, no plug socket and no bathroom. The beds were rick hard and the room was cold and dirty.

We decided to move on after one night despite booking 3 but still had to pay for one night with only a marginal discount.

Don't take a basement room!

My room was absolutely reasonable for the price I booked. Both the room and the bathroom were clean and equipped with a fan. I found the location very pleasant, since Thamel is nearby (5 minutes walking) but not so close that it becomes too loud. The young man who took care of the guests was also extremely friendly, helpful and available at all times. On my return to Kathmandu, I would love to book the Friendship Hostel again!

Good price-performance and comfortable location

I spent 7 nights in this guesthouse, including 4 during the April 2015 earthquake. Their generosity did not change. Although the neighborhood is not as noisy as Thamel, I advise you to choose your room well (not to choose a room next to the reception or overlooking the next guesthouse).

A little-cared-for staff!

A good address to land near Thamel, without all the hustle and bustle, a clean room with a private bathroom for a reasonable take with wifi, terrace and access to the roof to dry your laundry, the manager is very nice, helpful and reliable, go there with your eyes closed!

A good guesthouse

A small guesthouse in a quiet corner, safe from noise and hustle! Two steps from Thamel! A very friendly owner and always there to help and advise you! With little care! That little favorite phrase when he crosses you Everything is ok?:) And all that for a small price! $8 double with bathroom and hot water! I'd go back there with my eyes closed!:)

Good place!

The staff and the manager are all very friendly. The rooms on the top floor are the best. It's not extraordinary, but for the price, you can hardly get more from Thamel. So I'd say it's a good value for money. With a good atmosphere. Ideally located.

Good value for money.

We were delighted to stay in this hotel which surprised us with its many advantages. Because given the low price we paid, we expected to have it for our money... But we were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the rooms, the quietness of the neighborhood (despite the noisy life of Thamel) and above all by the kindness and availability of staff.
