Stephanie and her family is just a remarkable host out of this wonderful place by one of the greatest landscape I’ve seen.
The facilities are complete, foods are great, room is comfortable (despite a bit old). Price is definitely competitive.
Eagle’s nest is one of the best ever dinner place without doubt.

Just one feedback that the floor managers are not so costumer oriented. The lady in charge for restaurant on 26 dec was saying we could not go for 2nd time in Eagle’s nest because it was fully booked, that we need to pay 100 extra (as if it would be issue for us), and that we have done it on first night.
It would be okay to understand if explained properly but the way she responded to the request was definitely not pleasant.
I had to insist that the choice where to have dinner is on my side, especially as we asked already. So briefings to them will be recommended to ensure experience is 100% amazing

Must visit

We stayed at Vingerklip for one night on the way from Swakopmund to Etosha. We had a really lovely warm welcome from the lady on reception and cool towels and a cold drink which were very much appreciated after a long journey!  Be warned the roads leading up to Vingerklip really aren’t great, although I’m not sure the hotel is responsible for this. The main lodge building is very nice and feels authentically African. Food in the main lodge was average, however experience in eagles nest was exceptional, unmatched sunset views of an incredible landscape surrounding the lodge and good food too. Pool was also lovely but some updated furniture is needed here. Sadly our room let Vingerklip down - tired mismatched furniture, the bathroom in particular was very tired, shower was not acceptable - mouldy and in dire need of refurb. No complimentary tea coffee or bottled water in the room and although this is available in the main lodge as our room was quite far from here these basic facilities in the room would have been nice. We appreciate that Vingerklip doesn’t market itself as a super luxurious lodge, but don’t feel that’s an excuse given we stayed at other locations in Namibia at a similar price where the rooms were much better. I think if rooms were updated, this place could be truly brilliant.

Great location but needs TLC

The location of the lodge is breathtakingly beautiful in the Ugab Valley. Our bungalow offered a beautiful view, even to a waterhole, where only once was an antelope seen. The whole area is very animal-poor. You can do two nice walks, especially the one near the finger cliff. The food was okay, we were once at the lodge restaurant and once at the top of the Eagles Nest. The sunset from the Eagles Nest is spectacular. The two pools are beautiful, both with a beautiful view. So why not a higher score? In our bathroom and therefore also in the bedroom and in a part of the garden setting it smelled terrible after something. We ate this last night on the very first of several years in German, unfortunately we spoke to the chief of the Eagles Nest, who was not interested in him. The sunset from the Eagles Nest is spectacular.

This area is amazing - the scenery is stunning. A bit of a wind down from our recent boat trip and dune drive. We had a nice walk up to "the finger." We also made a reservation from the UK for the Eagles Nest restaurant. This was a truly magical experience. We also undertook one of the lodges expeditions to see some local roack paintings. The staff were lovely.

Dreamy backdrop, good room facilities, two swimming pools, very good service. Highlight is the second restaurant Adlernest on a table mountain. You should definitely reserve a seat, as there is only room for a maximum of 20 people. The dinner there is of the top class.

A wonderful stay

We've surpassed expectations. Accommodation surrounded by wonderful scenery, good amenities, a well-kept outdoor area, with a beautiful garden! we used the swimming pool and gym that are in good condition. Dinner at the Eagles Nest restaurant and its scenery was amazing.

That's nice.

A natural event this finger cliff, unique and therefore absolutely worth seeing. The lodge is cozy, good food, beautiful tents, super friendly people, a relaxing pool. Eating on the rock is a very nice experience, fun waiters and a great sunset!!

Fantastic surroundings and great lodge

We were very confused by all the good reviews of this lodge as unfortunately it was easily the most disappointing of our trip.

Our room felt tired and dated with bulky and mismatched furniture that made the room feel very small. There were lots of paint chips on the walls and furniture and our shower tap had not been properly attached and fell off. It was one of the only places we stayed where there wasn’t a mini fridge in the room (including lodges in equally remote locations). I gather from the lodge's replies to other reviews that they are in the process of updating the rooms, however ours had certainly not been updated. It would have been helpful to have some information provided in a booklet in our rooms (meal times etc) like all the other lodges we stayed in. On the plus side, the room had good air con, a safe and a nice terrace. 

The main lodge buildings were well designed with two pools and lots of sitting areas, however again they were very tired with mismatched lounger pillows that didn't fit properly, some with cigarette burns in them. There was an odd "fitness area" with exercise machines that clearly haven't worked in years. Everything just felt quite tired and listless.

Dinner at the Eagle's Nest was fun and the food and service was excellent there. Food in the main lodge was good, but the service was listless and unfriendly at times. 

There was not a huge amount to see or do in the area past the walk to Vingerklip - if they manage to bring the lodge up to a higher standard it would potentially be worth a one night stay to break the journey to Etosha, but two nights are wasted here. 

Unfortunately this lodge has a lot of work to do to bring it up to the standard of other places we stayed on our trip, which charged a similar price.

Disappointing and tired

For me, the best lodge in Namibia, wonderful location, wonderful facility, very good service, excellent food, very good chalets with very nice terrace, great viewing platform on the nearby Table Mountain with wonderful sunset

Wonderful lodge in excellent condition

A beautiful and well-maintained complex with small bungalows 20 km off the main road. Friendly service, personal care by Reinhard and an excellent kitchen. The highlight is the Aderhorst, a lookout point and restaurant high above the complex on a rocky plateau. Ideal place for sunset. Unfortunately, you are about 20 minutes occupied with the ascent and should be halfway fog-free. The complex has 2 clean swimming pools, restaurant, bar and waterhole.
