48 reviewsBeing cheaper than all of my backpacker stays so far in Yangon, I stayed at Kaung Lay Inn for six nights - and had a better experience than all the others! The room/bed was massive, and perfectly clean. Love the teak interior, and the breakfast room is beautiful in the morning. Which brings me to breakfast. Pancakes, honey and fruit to start with - then eggs on toast with tea or coffee. A welcome change from the rice and noodles I was served at breakfast at other (pricier) hotels - and filled me up to bursting point. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and willing to go to the ends of the earth to make your stay enjoyable. I felt completely safe and welcome as a solo traveller- really can't recommend this place enough. Top tip: As its slightly off the beaten track, some taxi drivers had difficulty finding it. But its located right next to the throat, ear and nose hospital (which everybody knows) - so ask to be taken there and walk the 30 seconds to Kaung Lay Inn. Enjoy your stay! I'll definitely be coming back.
