Located in a kind of dead end, dirty pool, wifi out, no water pressure upstairs, risky power plugs, dirty breakfast room, away from the center and acceptable restaurants, the only thing that saves it is acceptable hospitality without being unforgettable.

Little attraction

Positive things first: we arrived at 5am from our overnight bus and where happy that we could use our room right away. However, we got woken up twice by the receptionist calling us. Since he did not speak good English we had no idea what he wanted.
The room was simple which is ok. But one side of my pillow case had blood stains on them and there was a dead mosquito on the wall which should not happen if the room is cleaned for a guests arrival. We were really looking forward to sleep in one time but got woken up by religious music at 5.30 which did not stop, EVER. Not the hotels fault but worth mentioning. It is also quite far from the center, approx 30 mins, the bus station and the airport. The wifi, as almost everywhere in Myanmar so far, is basically useless. 
The breakfast is pretty poor as well and the staff not really interested in checking if everything is ok or clearing your plates. All in all I would not choose to stay here again.

Cheap but needs improvement 

We were here with our family for a week, and we had booked two rooms. The rooms were perfect. However, we booked an extra hotel with pool so that the kids could cool off at the temperatures. The pool was only once cleaned on demand with humid seab. Everything else remained dirty. Cranks of beer bottles lay for days at the pool on the wooden floor, and the tables and beds were extremely dirty. Yes, it's a lot built in Myanmar and it's dusty at the temperatures - but if the staff would rather play the whole day on their cell phone than clean it once, then the day now falls very low in the ratings. Okay for a small price. But it wasn't. The breakfast wasn't good either. It was sour, sour, sour and sour, and the potential for damage would have been great again.

I like this Mandalay White House Hotel , very friend staffs and wormly well come to us , and the room are clean ,and the bathroom also clean ,very nice  security man , very beautiful reception gilrls ,i will be back , and see you again w.h.Hotel all staffs thank you.

Very disappointed with this hotel. The hotel is warm and professional, but that's not all! Very badly located, far from everything, few good restaurants nearby. Noisy, a net of hot water in a worn-out bathroom, poor breakfast... there's probably better in Mandalay!

What to Avoid

The hotel is very far from all the sights. The room was very noisy, around the pool there were 2 construction sites. The breakfast was extremely poor. The employees seem to be mostly watching movies on the Internet, the WiFi was mostly very weak. We could borrow bicycles, but the saddle was not adjustable (rost) so driving was rather uncomfortable.

Disappointment

We arrived at 630 am off the night bus - quite sure we woke the staff and that they don't often get arrivals this early!  The young man at the desk assisted us and checked us in quickly.  We were both sick the day before, so a bed and shower was greatly appreciated.  

The room was very basic and has several dead bugs on the floor.  My guess is the room had not been freshened for a few days and bugs collect?  Otherwise the bedding and towels were clean.  Bathroom stocked with soaps, shower caps, toothbrushes etc.  Complementary water in the room each day of our stay.  

We did get some rest and the staff at the hotel brought some fresh fruit to our room - very nice gesture.  

Breakfast on the day that we did take it was plentiful with many options.  Staff very friendly overall, but little english.

The hotel is about 1.5 miles from the palace - not a difficult walk and a great way to see some of the crazy of Mandalay.  Not far from the palace are the popular pagodas in the area.  The hotel is a cab ride to about everywhere.  We did arrange for a cab driver through the hotel to take us to the temples that are outside of the city.  This cost us about 40000 mmk.  Also about a 15 minute drive to the boat jetty where we caught the boat to Bagan.

Quirky - Close to Palace

Something far from the main tourist attractions and very poor Wi-Fi, besides, a clean and spacious room, with hot water, minibar, air conditioning, mosquito nets in the windows... highly recommended, great value for money.

Quiet and cheap.

For mandalay the hotel is of good quality price ratio, 24 euros a night, breakfast included correct, nice swimming pool, small care staff, clean room... we were glad we didn't have a chicken cage hotel!

pleasant hotel

A little bit far off the centre, but a luxury budget option if you want to have some rest. Comfortable rooms, nice swimming pool, very decent breakfast buffet. Staff is a little bit odd, I think they are not used to have western guests. Drinks and food in restaurant are quite expensive.
