We were just at the panoramic bar on the third floor and there you have a beautiful view of the medina the reception is very warm and perfect service a real relaxing moment to enjoy after a good day of visiting

Above the medina

The Riad is beautiful with wonderful gardens and a pool. However it could be so much more. It was eerie to be the only guests in such a huge compound. It’s substantially overpriced, the breakfast was mediocre, the WiFi didn’t work, our arrival seemed unexpected and our transfer from the station wasn’t organised. There’s no hammam or restaurant. At breakfast on the last day we were told there was a problem with the milk. I suspect they had just run out. Other than 1 small bottle on arrival we weren’t provided with any water. 
The gardener and the night manager (Newman) were great and very helpful, however. 


Has potential but could be better

If you are looking for the largest swimming pool and garden in Medina, this is the one and no other! The service is simple, the staff is discreet and incredibly kind. The suites are very beautiful (decorated with taste like the rest of the hotel, etc.), we had 2 almost communicative (practical with children), very clean floors. A full south exhibition sheltered from the wind and noise :-) The sculptures and stucco work throughout the establishment are worth the tour! Finally, easily accessible, there are some nice restaurants around the hotel (Fes Café, Ruined Garden, etc..), a guide in the Riad is working rather closely, they think with the eyes and eyes of the tourists who have a very good quality and I recommend having a good relationship with the tourism industry.

The Riyadh in the medina!!

Honestly, we checked out of another Riad that was mediocre and gambled on a senior suite here based on the photos on Booking website. Oh wow. The minute we walked into their little oasis of calmness, the beauty and sounds and smells enchanted us and kept us spellbound for our entire time there. The suite was like a fairy tale Moroccan Riad, Gardens fragrant with fruit trees and blossoms, poolside relaxing and beautiful ambience. Every member of the small dedicated team were exceptional hosts, taking a genuine attitude to their duty of care that made our stay even more special. Food and drinks served where and when we asked, with a smile. For Moroccan standards the breakfast was superb. Absolute peace and quite, broken only by occasional cockerels crowing around the neighbourhood and the cacophonous call to prayers reminding us that we had not yet reached paradise. There’s a tortoise that habitually strolls around the poolside as though he is the main resident - so funny. No exaggeration - from our perspective this is a true experience of Morocco at its best. After Riad Alkantara we moved to Hotel Sahrai for a couple of nights - honestly, not intending to put down the Sahrai at all, but we were a little sad to leave Alkantara behind. Thank you to all. 

Perfect experience - you could visit Fez just for this Riad

Beautiful stay in this amazing Riad. Very spacious, clean and well organised place. Traditionally decorated rooms with stunning views from window. Very relaxing pool area with spectacular garden, that is oasis in a busy old town. Great and very professional staff. Was absolutely great experience.

Fantastic

I wish I could recommend this Riad. Unfortunately, though some of the staff were friendly, and the location was stunning, none of the details have been worked out. Having staying in much cheaper Riads with stunning facilities and service for the previous 2 weeks, we decided to treat ourselves,  at 10 times the cost of most it should have been pretty perfect....

The place is obviously not busy, we only saw 2 others couples over our 4 day stay, and this may be part of the problem.

Bathroom:

-Bathroom floor was covered in long black hair upon arrival - lots of hair, a handful at least, not ours. Asked them to clean it again, but they didn't do a good job, and more hair was found.

-No stand-up shower in the most expensive room! There was a showerhead totally clogged with limescale, and had a loose hook at knee height, but you had to sit in the bath to use it. 

-Toilet wasn't really all that clean, even after the second go.

Bedroom: 

-Stunning 30 foot ceilings, huge bed, good storage. 

-Warning - Minibar means tea, fridge, kettle not booze. They need to clarify this.
-They don't refill the teabags for free.

-They only give you a tiny water bottle upon arrival, and charge after that.  You're given free water in every restaurant, shop and everywhere else, it seems really cheap considering the cost of staying there.

-They need blackout curtains for the windows and doors as they open into the main courtyard.

Food: 

-Breakfast: Ok, no better than at 30 euro a night Riads.  Not enough coffee. Seem to have supply issues: they offered us an omelette, and when we asked about it 1/2 hour later we were told they had to buy eggs. They offered it, we did not ask for it, seems odd...

-Salt and Pepper on the table. Everywhere else seems to supply it! We had to ask for it at every meal, once I understand, but every meal? we had the same waiter, these details should be remembered, it gets a bit embarrassing for us!

-Dinner: Terrible and overpriced dinner - 30 euros a head, when you can eat out for 3 euro a head. Had to return the Chicken Tagine - no flavour, no veggies, and really dry.  My partner also returned their Fish Tagine for the same reason. Was told I didn't know what I was talking about, and was told it was delicious., which get me to my next point 

Staff:
-Most of the staff were lovely, but one woman ( the manager?), who said she was from Wales, was particularly aggressive and dominating. Our requests for the bathroom clean, and comment on the food wasn't taken well, and we did not like her tone at all.

The Riad: 
-Completely stunning, huge pool and garden, great lounge areas and seating areas. No roof terrace. The entrance and main raid are great, but most other areas area are still in a rough state, seems they are still renovating. No Hamman or other activities as advertised.

In conclusion: you can pay to use the pool for the day. Do that, enjoy the best bits of the riad the day, but don't stay. Not worth the money at all compared to with Fes has to offer with other Riads. The owners and managers need to get the details right before they charge the amount they do. It's all in the details I'm afraid.

A charming place in the medina, a beautiful well-maintained garden, a pool of spring water (riads with swimming pool are rare in Fez!). The rooms are very spacious and beautiful (the suites on the ground floor with city views are beautiful) The family kitchen is delicious A place where it is good to rest after a day of visiting

An oasis of greenery in the heart of the medina

A small paradise on earth, a magnificent haven of peace in a sublime setting, one of the finest riads in FES, welcoming and caring staff, delicious and particularly generous family cuisine, to be discovered without moderation by Jc and Katia.

Sublime

The setting of this hotel is sublime; the gardens and the pool (only in the medina) are superb and the rooms are superb. But.... despite the lavish suites the hot water is sometimes random. We had the chance to go with the family (two suites out of five at the rental) so we were able to enjoy the setting entirely alone which was comfortable and fabulous. But... despite a very high price, upon arrival you will be awkwardly reminded that breakfast was not included in one of the two suites you chose.... and you are told that you will be charged 12€ per ticket (and that you will be able to find out that you have not even requested a small amount of luggage or a small amount of tea at the arrival at the hotel when you have arrived at the kitchen, but you will be unable to swim for more than five days, but you will be provided with a small amount of water and a lottery.
