At the heart of a quiet and artistic colony, it is an ordinary, sober house from the street, but inside decorated with an affirmed taste for painting and especially for wrought iron; Iron House. Ricardo, the discreet owner, masters welding and has himself made various rooms and structures of his house. Our colorful living room like the rest of the house was very pleasant and the bed comfortable. The bathroom adjacent to our room was clean and spacious. The functional kitchen is open on the living room, where a beautiful staircase, Ricardo's work, leads to the roof terrace.

It's better than the hotel.

The place is clean and feel free like home to stay. The manager is helping me to get some information of San Miguel. You can walk around to the handcraft market and traditional market. History area is not that far as well.

Lovely Stay

A really nice place to stay! Ricardo (the owner) was always friendly with my friends and I. He was also asking if everything was alright.
The kitchen and the rooms were in good conditions as well.
I would definitely stay in this hostel again, and I really recommend it to anyone who is looking for a warm, cheap, and comfortable place to sleep.

Good place

I have stayed 3nights there and the only words the owner used to say to me were "are u staying his night as well? Could u pay?"... not even another word or a smile or a welcome tour. He even didnt metion where the toilet were and if we could use the kitchen..
He also should clean: there was a dirty pot in the kitchen for 2 days!
Kitchen is ok. They have washig machine but not for guests.
Location is ok..

Unfriendly service..

I waited about 45 minutes for Ricardo to return to the hostel- its his house, so if you dont book in advance you might not catch him- and he acted like it was my fault he returned from somewhere to let me in. No hello, how are you, welcome or im sorry I kept you waiting.
Very standoffish the entire time. Made no effort to say hello or know anything about me.
One morning I needed to go to the bank to get money and asked if I could pay when I returned. With a very confused face he said yes. He wasnt around for me to give him the cash when I came back in the afternoon. So at about 11pm when I was upstairs on the patio chatting with another guest he comes up and says "do you have the money?" Nothing else, not even a thankyou.

Yes this is the cheapest hostel in San Miguel. But i couldnt not stand the rudeness so i left. There are heaps of great cheap hostels in Mexico with breakfast and a friendly face- this one was worst Id stayed in in a while.

Positive-
Wifi- all hostels in SMA have it though. Its a clean bed. Can use the kitchen.

Negative-
I was in the 6 bed girls dorm- its fine. No toilet paper, neither was the rubbish emptied while I was there. No cleaning whatsoever. Felt weird using the kitchen because he never offered or explained that I could, but other people were. Ricardo was never around when i needed- to get in or to pay. Very negative attitude. Maybe he had a bad few days- but he owns a hostel- sorry but thats your job to at least pretend to smile for your guests. Make sure to book on Hostelbookers- 119 pesos- he asked for 125 in cash without a booking. (If you are really trying to save your pesos)

Not hello, not how are you, not welcome, not sorry I made you wait. Very distant all the time. He made no effort to say hello or to meet me. One morning I had to go to the bank to get money and asked him if he could pay when he returned. With a very confused face he said yes. He wasn't there to give him the money when he came in. So about 11 p.m., when I was upstairs at the hotel with a booked bathroom, he said, I was there, he said, Nothing was cheap. There was no need to make money, not even in the hotel, but if he got a lot of money in the hotel, he could make a lot of money in the hotel, but if he had a good time, he could make it.

Antipathetic, without florets, just a bed.

is the best option in san miguel de allende, gto, as it has the best cuisine of all the hostels in mexico, and has good beds, asoleo area and more,,, cheap prices.. a 4 quadras del corazon del pueblo..

 magnificent hostel

We were NOT happy with our stay at this hostel (which is actually just a few rooms in the owners' house). We had booked it a good 10 months in advance and paid extra to book out the additional bed in the four-bed room downstairs for my sister and her two friends. When we arrived, the owners were quite cold and told us that our rooms were not ready, so we left and returned later, only to find two extra girls in the downstairs bedroom and an additional bed shoved in the corner to accommodate the five of them! To make matters, the girls told us that they'd been promised the room to themselves for the entire month!

Our room was on the upper floor and was decent enough. The shared bathroom was quite small and had a faulty toilet when we were there, which was not a great thing for my husband's food poisoning!  
 Perhaps because we put them out from the start, the owners just weren't very friendly to us for our entire stay. They were very standoffish, and weren't interested in speaking to us at all.  Seeing as how we'd specifically booked this placed based on the positive reviews about their friendliness, we were not impressed by their attitudes! On one particular occasion we returned pleasantly tipsy from a lunch of food and tequila to a frosty Ricardo, who latter gossiped about our intoxicated state to the two girls (completely inappropriate!).  We had the same treatment for the rest of our 24hr stay.    Even though the location is great, I'd find somewhere else, if I were you.

So rude, & double-booked our room!

When we arrived, the owners were quite cold and told us that our rooms were not ready, and we left, and when we returned later, we found girls in the lower room and a bed placed in a corner to accommodate five people! In addition, the girls told us that they had promised them an extra bed in the four-bedroom room downstairs for my sister and her two friends. A room was on the upper floor and was acceptable. The bathroom was quite small and the bathroom in the middle of nowhere worked, my husband was quite intoxicated because the two girls were in the cold during the research and afterwards we were looking for something very uncomfortable to eat. Although we were not very friendly with the other girls, we were very interested in talking about the same personality.

Very rude, and we booked our room twice.

Although the hostel is not directly on the Zocalo, it is very quiet, and the Zocalo is also only 5-10 minutes' walk away. I was there with my girlfriend and we had a 4th village for ourselves and we paid 150 pesos a night. There is a good kitchen for co-use and generally everything was clean and the owner was available at all times. When you come from the bus station, you should take a taxi for about 30 pesos, because you can get to the city by bus, but depending on how much luggage you have, it can be quite exhausting!!
