Great value for price, tasty breakfast
 
Pluses:
Very good location, in the city center, yet with no bigger street next to it.
Breakfast - perfect size and mix of western and traditional Mexican - probably the best chilaquiles I have eaten during this trip.
Staff - there is a problem with our original room and they provided us with a new one.
Nice view from terrace.

Minuses:
Original room - there was no window in the bathroom, thus the whole room smelled of humidity and felt humid, the flush was broken and when I opened it, I had noticed that this was the source of the smell: the staff assured me that it would be fixed.
The hotel advertises itself together with the spa; yet none of the facilities are for free for the guest, in order to use saunas and pool, you need to buy extra package, I think it should be mentioned somewhere (maybe it is, but simply I did not notice it)

Great value for the price

It's a very picturesque little hotel, beautifully decorated, very picturesque, very good care, we contacted the owner directly, who since we got the phone answered answered us very cordially. The cleanliness felt as soon as we entered the hotel, everything impeccable, we had touched a small room, but we wanted a larger one to which we were switched without any problem.

An excellent option in San Cristóbal!!

My accommodation was excellent, excellent service and hospitality from all the staff, the very affordable price and very good location, I will definitely be back, and it is pet friendly and even Simona welcomes you with hospitality.

Excellent location and facilities

This was my first experience in San Cristóbal de las Casas and I'm delighted, San Cristóbal is located in an extra-strategic place to get to know the surrounding villages and was an excellent option for us to stay in this Hotel.

Excellent hotel very well located.

I spend 1 month living in a room above the hotel owned by the gentle Patty. I had a great staying and the location was perfect to enjoy the vibrant life of San Cristobal.
The owner is so gentle and nice and her kitchen was so well equipped. Room, bathroom and common area were spotless. They clean the room everyday.
I want to thanks Patty to be such a good host and I strongly recommend this place for solo travelers that want to spend long term in San Cristobal.

Nice place and very central

When booking, they offered us a price of $950 (which is already quite high compared to most hotels in the area that have much better facilities and run around $700 a night) and finally ended up charging us $1,400 a night! A real robbery that at first was told to be a room for 3 people and then finally the owner said that taxes were on it. The services offered on their page were not what they actually offered; they said that the rooms were housed in a small furnace and with coffee service by the ferries and nothing was true, simple to find for any kind of personal care within the hotel was really difficult.

Noisy, expensive and unpleasant.

Stayed at Hotel Casa del Sol for a week in January with my husband and son. Clean room, comfy beds, fresh towels and great water pressure. What more could you want. Daniel was on the front desk for most of our stay and he was friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. 

Great Hotel 

Very nice hotel typical of the city of Sencillo, very clean, excellent service by the owner and hotel staff Very comfortable and a few steps from the tourist walkways The owner is very friendly and the people who work there always do everything to help you.

 Extraordinary service

The location is very good, as it is close to the main restaurants and shops, in the most beautiful street of San Cristobal, no noise and you can park your car at the hotel door, there is a morning coffee service, which I think is an excellent detail.

Excellent location.

This place is a nightmare. My partner and I turned up in person to enquire about room availability for the following week. The owner showed us two rooms - one was an apartment for 950 a night and one was more economical at 450 a night. The economy room she showed us was quite nice - overlooking the courtyard with lots of natural light and an ensuite. She said it was 450 a night so we agreed to take it for 5 nights and paid a deposit of 2 nights. 

When we turned up to check in however we were shown to a dark, tiny little room just off the reception desk. It had no windows at all, was dark and miserable. Plus it was very cold.  It had a toilet but no ensuite. The shower was a communal one. 

We were told the shower was private (just ours) but this was a lie as it was communal and other rooms used it too. To make things worse the shower did not even work properly. It was burning scalding hot (too hot to get under) and then went stone cold. My partner tried to adjust the thermostat but the fellow who worked there just watched him fiddle with it although did bring him a screwdriver. San cristobal gets very cold and cold showers are a nightmare when it is that cold outside. 

We told the man at reception that we had been told we would have the room at the rear, plus the shower did not work and that we had only paid 2 nights and might leave early. He informed the owner who then knocked on our door at 11 at night demanding to discuss!!!  We were in bed so had to get up and dressed to talk to her.  Unbelievable.   We asked why we hadn't been given the room we were shown. She shrugged and said other people were in it. After she left I jumped online to check and sure enough the room she had shown us was in fact available and it was listed at 950 per night. So she clearly never intended to let us have that room and when she showed us that room, and said it was the more economical option she was lying. 

As for the shower she said that we had to find her and tell her when we wanted a shower and she would adjust the thermostat. So this meant wandering around the hotel to find a staff member every time we wanted a shower.  I note from the website that the external bathroom is described as private. This is not the case. The shower we had was shared with at least one other room.

On top of this staff were very unfriendly and if you walked in past reception they wouldn't make eye contact let alone smile.

The bloke on the night shift would sit on the couch in reception all evening watching tv. The tv was right outside our room so the whole evening you just had to listen to the night reception guy watching telly.

The owner has a dog that she keeps in a small balcony on the top floor which barks all the time. And the terrible tiny room near reception means that you hear all the noise from reception every time someone enters the hotel. From seven in the morning onwards sleep is impossible.  In the evening you'll just hear the night reception guy watching tv.  

Room was not serviced once in five days. We had to go to reception when we needed more toilet paper or fresh towels. For a stay of two or three nights this wouldn't bother me but for five nights without the bin being emptied or toilet paper restocked it's a bit rich.

So it was noisy, owner deliberately misled us about the room and demanded we discuss it with her at eleven pm, shower didn't work, rude staff.

For the same price in this town you can get a room with a private bathroom and breakfast included. 

Much better options available.
