An exceptional hotel, the clean room in every corner, very spacious, we stayed in la Cardenales. The proper furniture, functional and in perfect condition. Water and coffee (very rich capsule espresso) flow every day. The staff very friendly and attentive to every need. As for the location, it is perfect, as in several hotels in downtown Guanajuato you can walk everywhere but one point that makes the difference is the hotel's own brand of parking.

The hotel is exceptional.

5 Day Stay. Attractive interiors & Friendly staff. Coming off COVID, restaurant was closed for now.... plans to reopen and relace mattresses  (per the owner)  Generous sized rooms... but wonky WiFi seems to be a common complaint

Pleasant & Well Maintained

This hotel is truly one in a million. I have never encountered a more accommodating and kind staff at any hotel. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The rooms were exceptional! We split our time between two rooms due to availability and they were both splendid. The tortulas room has a small balcony that has a spectacular view of the city and AC. That room would be absolutely 100% perfect but it has queen sized bed makes it hard for two people to sleep comfortably. We moved to the Cordonices and that room was also amazing. It has a small balcony with seating that looks into the courtyard of the hotel. It has a king bed and a working fireplace. My only negative with that room was that there was no AC. However, the staff was amazing and gave us a fan which was all we needed. There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place is. 

The location is great! Its within walking distance of  everything. Its on a street with many art galleries and great food. There is a great cafe directly across the street and just up the street from a great rooftop restaurant and bar with killer views and cocktails. 



Stay here. You wont regret it. 

Excellent hotel, impeccable, the wonderful staff, the room super well taken care of and pleasant. My husband and I sleep together as we have not slept in a long time. Rent the room with Jacuzzi! Delicious! The location is magnificent! Everything is close by. I highly recommend them!

A beautiful experience!

When we entered our room at Antiguo Vapor, we were completely blown away by the views! Our room was facing the beautiful colorful houses and church rooftops, and we could watch the sunset from our windows. We also loved how spacious the room was, with a huge bed and a large bathroom as well. The shower was spacious and decorated with traditional tiles, very charming. The hotel has the perfect location, right in the center, walking distance to everything. Guanajuato might be the most beautiful Mexican city we have been to and this hotel is a great place to stay.

Room with spectacular views

Years ago I didn't return to Guanajuato, Hospedarme en el Hotel  Antiguo Vapor  was the best experience, it has its own parking lot, the rooms are very spacious you can choose according to your needs, I chose one of the rooms that are down next to the restaurant, no noise at all you can rest without repairing in time, in general all the facilities are very clean, the Manager is an excellent person always ready, the breakfast I loved this delicious and at a very affordable price. The location and the view is excellent near the center, the Alhóndiga, the market, good near everything.....

The hotel is well located the reception is very good the room is spacious and comfortable a little bit: the included breakfast is really too frugal! it would be worth seeing the price of the room, to be more correct!

The hotel is very nice, and pretty, and the young people are very willing to help you with whatever you need, but it has disadvantages such as: if you touch a room on the street, there is a bar across the street that plays very loud music until 2 AM, some nights they finished before. The Internet didn't work very well. The bathroom is not suitable for people with disabilities, as it is very uncomfortable for their bathroom.

It's very nice, but it has its disadvantages.

Four years ago while traveling with friends we stumbled across Antigua Vapor.  We enjoyed the place so much we did not even consider staying at a different place when we returned to Guanajuato earlier this month with our wives.  The two biggest pluses are the convenient location and the super friendly staff and owner.  It’s less than a 5 minute walk to the historical center which which makes for a quieter stay without sacrificing access to the great restaurants and the historical center.  

I read the negative reviews and I would agree the beds are a bit on the hard side (which I consider another plus).  Some, but not all, of the rooms require scheduling of hot water service but that is easy enough to do and can be done in advance.  The security, historical ambiance and great staff more than make up for these nits.
