Now called Moodhu Inn. Our stay was made more enjoyable by Ahmed the hotel manager. He’s always helping us in everything that we need even when we don’t ask. He goes beyond his job. Thanks Ahmed! You’re super duper. The hotel itself is good enough for those looking to budget. Good shower and big comfy beds. Breakfast is good consisting of American, Continental and Maldivian, but it can be a bit monotonous after a few days. We tried out different restaurants in the area. Sea la Vie is next to the hotel. There are others further down the road like Black y Garden, Central and Retro Garden.  You might want to try them all and make up your mind. Note though It can take from 30-45 mins to get your food from any of these restaurants so allow plenty of time. The highlight of our trip is going night fishing with the local fishermen. Paid $100 to go for 6-hour line fishing with Maashaa (boat name). The elderly fishermen are joy to fish with although they can’t speak very good English. We went fishing twice with them as we enjoyed the first experience. They’ll always bring along someone with them who can communicate in English and translate for them. We cooked our catch with the help of Ahmed. Such a great experience! Visited Rasdhoo island for $10 each return ticket on speedboat. Bought our lovely souvenirs from the shops there. Went to Coffee Ole’ which stands by it’s no. 1 rating in Trip Advisor. Make sure to bring lots of mosquito repellent if coming in Nov. There’s plenty of them around! Love the fruit bats, singing birds, great beach, sting rays at the harbour and sea life in general. Great and unique experience especially being our first time in the Maldives! 

Definitely a unique experience!

We stayed as a family of 5 (very tight in the room). The food was fairly good (kids loved the syrup breakfast juice and hotdog sausages for breakfast but thankfully grownups got a lovely, more traditional, maldivian fish/coconut breakfast!)). On the one night the chef was absent we ate at a local restaurant - suffice to say we'd not return and definitely appreciated the Ukulhas Breeze chef even more! Mosquitos were an issue so we didn't tend to sit around at night but were generally exhausted from the long days of snorkelling anyway. We organised multiple trips directly and had a great time on all - snorkelling with manta rays and twice 'stranded' on desert islands. The prices were high but on a par with everything else we've seen in the Maldives.
The beach directly out from the Inn was gorgeous (narrow) and snorkelling good. The beach on the other side of the island was deserted except at sunset when al the locals came out and then it was a gorgeous site of families relaxing quietly.

Beautiful quiet local island

I really like it very much. Home atmosphere, friendly stuff, good room. The island is not big at all, but very beautiful. Not only for tourists, local people also live there. Amazing beach, nice views, silence and fantastic diving!

Very nice and friendly place.

First of all I should say this is not a cheap place to stay, and the accommodation is not luxurious however the location is outstanding.  To break it down then:

Accommodation:  We booked the seaview room for a family of 4.  It was clear on arrival that the room is too small for 4 people using 2 put-up beds.  We explained this and, to be fair, the manager allowed us to have 2 bedrooms. This made a big difference to our stay and was a good compromise.
The 'sea view' is stretching it a bit - its a ground floor room with a sort of bit of sea visible if you look through the forest area!
One of the rooms did have a smell when the shower was used and neither room had  TV working until several days into the stay.
FOOD - the chef was helpful and make a great curry!  Breakfast is quite repetitive.
The small fridge is useful and there are kettles and tea/coffee with sugar available to make your own drinks.
One room did get quite a few ants in it.
The air con was good and did work.
The staff Mr Ahmed Koyes was very kind and helpful and would try his best to help with any problems, he was always working hard.

LOCATION:
This is where the guest house (5 rooms) comes into its own.
The beach is idyllic with a view of a sandbank island. It is on a nice clear reef close by with loads of tropical fish, we saw Eagle rays, reef sharks, turtles, squid, golden pufferfish and huge numbers of other fish here. Something different each time we went to the reef.
It does feel like a private beach, although we noticed building work going on next door which will be a new guest house possibly meaning more shared use of the beach in future.

We did the Manta safari which was excellent, we saw a Manta and a coral garden.We also did the snorkelling safari which was OK.

Ukulhas is a nice little local island and I am guessing a million miles from a resort island holiday.  This was however what we wanted, not to be surrounded by loads of tourists and getting a real taste of the Maldives local life.

The hotel kindly organised a buggy tour of the island for us as well and did a free BBQ on the beach.

WIFI - Very intermittent on the island and fragile connection.
Mosquitos - take your repellant and buy some on the island (the white and green lotion) when there is little wind there are more mosquitos.

Overall despite the problems (which we saw the funny side of) we had a good time here and I recommend it.

All about the location

First they forgot to collect us at the airport, not a great start.
Very helpful staff but everything has to be deliverd to the hotel so your food can be a little cold. It is best to go and eat at the restaurant near the harbour.
The beds are a little hard but that will suit some. After we complained they did find us a softer matress.
A very funny small from the water in the bathroom but that is aparently normall for the island. We have stayed at other locals islands and they have been much better.
And the wifi didnt work for 3 days which was a bit of a pain
