After one night in October 2017, I specially returned to this guesthouse to enjoy another night there. That nearly says it all. The quirky decoration, the friendly staff, the very convenient location in the centre of Taiping and lots of foodstalls across the street from the guesthouse contribute to the attraction. The bunk beds have very large storage room under the bed or in the room for upper bunks. There is a/c in the room, but the room mates have to agree whether to keep it on or off. My tiny fan was not up to the task, and I would have preferred to enjoy a/c instead but had agreed to a/c off with my other room mate. I had to leave before 9a.m., therefore did not meet the daytime staff in the morning and did not experience the cafe. Sojourn offers water and hot coffee/tea, no breakfast included

excellent guesthouse with excellent location

Stayed 3D2N at this hostel. It totally gave me a whole new experience about traveling at Taiping.

The hostel owner, Tricia, is superbly wonderful, very patient with my queries, great at recommending things to do and to eat at Taiping. We had a great chat and the other guest had a great chat too. 

The rooms are clean, well maintained, the process to check-in and check-out are fast and simple. The place has wonderful deco for IG. The cafe also serves nice drinks, which I had, sat at the table, do people watching and relax as time passed by.

Taiping is a town I would definitely want do go back to visit again. And Sojourn would definitely be my first choice in accomodation selection.

For those who are driving up to Taiping, there are other offsite street parking and just need to pay an hourly parking fee to the town council.

Towel is provided, toiletries are available in the bathroom.

Excellent clean & comfy hostel / guest house in central Taiping, a short walk from railway staton. Friendly & helpful team for check-in, walking distance to Lake Gardens and countless nearby food stalls, coffee shops & restaurants. Small private room s & hostel beds.  Great for solo traveler or friends. Private room, small but nice bed and facilities all very clean. Highly recommend.

Great Budget Stay in Taiping

Nice place to stay with old-fashion style in heart  of Taiping. Walking distance to the Lakes and can easily find food, restaurant. 
The host was very friendly and helpful!!! Love her bookshelves 
Small tip: Better to bring mosquitoes repellent.

接待櫃檯在晚上七點以前關閉，民宿一樓是一間咖啡屋，二樓則是住宿處。在馬來西亞的六十年代，房子的設計充滿家庭的味道，而在這裡待一晚將使你有個難忘的經驗和特殊的回憶。
The reception has to be done before 7 PM, the ground floor part is a cafe and the stays are on the first floor. In Malaysia '60s, the design of the house full of the family feels and you will have a very special and unforgettable experience if you stay a night here.

民宿的地理位置也相當適中，附近有Taiping Mall，如果你喜歡道地的美食就在馬路的對面。
The location is very convenience, Taiping mall is nearby if you like to have local foods which are just opposite the main road.

同時也靠近太平湖的美景，更適合情侶散步共同創造美好的回憶。
Also close to the best location of Taiping lakeside which is a good place for a couple to walk and enjoy the scenery for memories.

一些古跡建築就在十分鐘步行之距離，比如馬來西亞第一家博物館、太平鐘樓、太平市場等等。
Some heritage buildings are locating within ten-minute walking distance such as museums (the first museum in Malaysia), the clock tower of Taiping, the market place and so on...

A 60's Time Mechine

Almost everything in walking distance. From Mc Donalds, Petron, convenience shop, restaurants. And they provide free breakfast too. The ambience inside the room is perfect for me. And 5 minutes drive to atm, taman tasek taiping. Backpackers will love this place as much as i do

For solo traveller, this is the most recommendable place

Boutique style guesthouse/hostel! In fact the only hostel in Taiping! Very friendly staff Lin & Tricia working there make you feel at home. Great WiFi and strong ac with hot showers. I will definitely be back to stay here again! 

Friendly and comfortable stay!

This is a great place to stay as it's so quirky with lots of interesting nooks and crannies, books, antiques, a great cafe and a lovely ambience.  The owner was very helpful with local advice and we loved the town which has a heritage trail and some great sights. The hotel is very clean and has all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay.

Unusual and fun place

It was our first time away from home with our toddler. Was a bit nervous with the "shared-bathroom" concept. Nevertheless, went along with it as the extended family wanted to stay here. Put my confidence in the raving reviews by fellow "tripadvisors" and hoped for the best. 

Verdict?

Clean! Very clean! Like how can they maintain it so clean, clean!

Everything was clean. Couldn't even find dust on the furniture in our room. 

We took the double room with an extra mattress. It was comfortable. Sharing the bathroom ... not so convenient...

The other rooms with bunk beds is only suitable for the 30s and below I think as it was quite a climb.

Overall, enjoyed the stay there :)

It was as the reviews said it would be ... clean!

The Sojourn Bed & Café is a very pleasant hostel. I stayed one night in a 4 person dormitory (we were only two). It's a renovated old house with a lot of 'cachet' (class, style). Staff is friendly and helpful. All normal facilities are available (breakfast included). It's clean and well located. I had a very pleasant stay.
